Cannot upgrade to windows 10 from windows 7, Fails at 25% with error 0XC1900101 - 0X20004. How can I get around this error and what is causing error.
View 3 RepliesI received the error shown as the installation started, the first reboot after downloading the files and updates.
View 3 RepliesWindows 10 goes through the entire download/installation process, restarts, blue screens with a "system thread exception not handled (iastora.sys). It then restarts and shows this error for windows 10. Am I screwed? It goes back to the desktop and works somewhat (other than windows 8.1 bugs). I don't have any files on this computer that I need to keep. I just want it fixed!
View 1 RepliesI've been having a problem with upgrading to Windows 10. I've tried using the tool both by running it on my PC and putting it on a USB. It gets through the first part of copying files and does the first reboot, then it starts back to the screen and the Installing Features and Drivers sits at 0% for a few seconds then resets and restores my old version with this error:
0xC1900101 - 0x30018 - The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with the error during SYSPREP operation.
When I originally looked this error up I read that it might be an encryption error so I decrypted both of my drives, ran the install again.. Same error. So now I am at a complete loss as to what to do so I can get myself upgraded.
System:
Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Mobo: ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero
PCU: Intel i7 4790k 4.00 GHz
GPU: ASUS ROG MARS760x2 (2 GTX 760 chips on one card)
RAM: 16GB DDR3
how to solve this error, I have an asus p8z77-v lk mother board and an intel i7 32 bit processor. Windows10 seems to complete the installation then exits with the error "Does not support the processor configuration. error # '0xc1900101-0x30017' It then reverts back to win7.
View 1 RepliesStill trying to update to windows 10. Have updated windows 7 w/sp1 and have checked that my computer is ready for update 10. Everything goes great until final shut-down and restart. Then I get black screen with Blue Flag and locks up, will not go any further. After 5 hours of waiting tried turning off and it restarted and gave this error message: Instalation failed in the safe OS phase with error during Boot. 0xC1900101-0x20017
View 3 RepliesThe upgrade process seems to go on Ok, but, near the end I see this message:
"The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again.
"Errors 0xC1900101-0x20017
"The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation.
I cannot start Windows my laptop. I can get into safe mode. I've tried to system restore and clean boot. I have tried verifier which gives the error iastor.sys

Upgraded a stable Win7 laptop to windows 10 and started getting Bad Pool Header BSODs. Some I cleared ( It used to happen immediately when connecting the network cable).
It happens a short time after I connect with the regular windows VPN to our office.
Attached is the dump files...
Currently, whenever I am playing or starting up any online game (League of Legends, Maplestory etc.) My laptop will freeze with the audio becoming an incredibly loud buzzing sound, often saying that my headphones became unplugged even though they hadn't. When this happens the only way to get the computer to respond is to hard reset using the power button. This issue has persisted for a while now, and I have previously reported it to those over at sevenforums, although sadly that didnt end up getting resolved. Here is the link to that thread:

I have Win 10 installed and activated on one computer - Asus z97 Deluxe/USB 3.1 mobo - but it ABSOLUTELY refuses to install on another computer - EVGA z97 Classified mobo. Regardless of the method - and I have tried all I know of - I ALWAYS get the same message: "Installation failed 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during Boot Operation".
All bootable win 10 USBs and DVDs refuse to boot. Out of desperation I even purchased Win 10 Home (which means I simply purchased a too expensive key. I was extremely disappointed that no different software came with with the purchase. Some of the solutions I have found are so difficult I might have been able to write a C++ program that would be much simpler.
I download windows 10 pro 64bit ISO file and extracted to pen drive pc restart and loaded windows 10 setup format Disk C give the install windows after its goes 100% all done pc restarted after screen black nothing happening.

Im trying to install windows 10 final on my ASUS x205ta, but the problem being that it has a 32GB ssd, and there is nothing on it but the OS, yet i still have the error of it saying there is not enough space, what should i do?If i get the ISO and install it that way will i still run into these problems? Plus i dont know my product key since it is a free upgrade and windows offered it to me? Is there any way to do this? I hate windows 8 and much prefer windows 10,
View 1 RepliesNever once had a blue screen or crash in the years I ran 7, which is pretty surprising given the stress I've put this thing under. After upgrading, my system's locking up constantly and I got my first BSOD last night. look through the dmp for me? Looks like it's a problem with one of the USB drivers, but I'm not sure where to go from there.
View 7 RepliesI have been trying to upgrade 7pro for a day or so with no luck. First of all I tried the 'get windows 10 app' this tells me a update (KB2952664) is not installed. It was showing as failed in my update long but has since installed ok. However the app still says its missing. So I tried the media creation tool. This starts up fine but about 40 min in this screen appears
I press ok and after about 10 seconds the installer just closes, and that's it we are back to normal. I have tried this 3 times and I get the same result.
I am now getting a new error. The error i am now getting is error C1420127 windows 10 now installs almost but towards the end it stops and says error and then when i go to look at it that is what the error is.
View 9 RepliesUsing the media creation tool (both usb and ISO) I get an error. Something like "installation has encountered an error during first_boot with sysprep." In not at my toshiba laptop at the moment so the wording may be a little off. Upgrading from my 8.1 current os. I just read about removing my eset antivirus before upgrading so I will remove that and my malwarebytes program as well and try again.
View 2 RepliesI have a domain based on samba 4.1.17-Debian ... I bought 10 laptops with W7 preinstalled .... With some fiddling in the registry the can successfully join my domain and everything works perfectly.....
But ... after upgrading those PC to W10 ( with automatic upgrade) i cannot logon anymore on domain. (local logon is ok) ... I get the message " no access server is currently available to open the session " ( translated from french , so the english message can be slightly different...)
Note that with a local session I can see and access the shared folders (mydomainsharedfolder )on the domain pdc, meaning that i can eliminate an authentication or dns problem ...) Same behaviour on all laptops...
I recently upgraded to windows 10 and now my verizon wireless "VZ access manager" doesnt work right. It still connects, but When I go to the statistics page the tx rate and rx rate is 0. My laptop which is still windows 7 still works fine.
View 1 RepliesI clicked on the "View download progress" button and I get the message; "Something went wrong. Please try again later".
I should note that I got an error message earlier when upgrading that said I was getting the "update error 0x80080008". I eventually fixed that using a .bat file I learned from another site but now I'm getting this new error.
I put my PC to sleep and when I wake it up, I'm getting no display on my monitors although the PC itself wakes up. I reboot the computer and encounter a BSOD "VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (nvlddmkm.sys)"
I recently updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Nvidia drivers have been updated as well.
Uploaded zip file.
Have had home builds for years with no big issues before windows 8.1 and now windows 10. I thought i had issues with memory or graphic card on my previous computer so i ended up buying new parts for a new build.
But nothing changed. Not so frequent as before but up to several times a day my computers gets an BSOD. I must say it is random for me what i am doing while this happens.
Different messages before restarting. The 2 last one while trying to create this thread and making the dump zip file was Kernel check failure and DPC watchdog violation.

Basically what happens is, I get BSOD errors when my computer is idle after about 5-10 min, pretty consistantly. It doesn't happen after a windows complete re-install for about a week (give or take) then I start seeing symptoms again. Ive also been getting, what seems to be the same 3, not in ay particular order.
They are: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXEMPTION, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. After doing a lot of homework and trial and error (not installing Norton Internet Security, Not updating Chipset Drivers...etc) ive resulted to the professionals. FYI Ive ran MEMTEST 86 at least 8 cycles with no errors.
My debug codes are attached to the post.
This has been going on for awhile and I cant seem to figure out the issue. I have turned off all C-State settings to fix the issue
View 1 RepliesThis is the first BSOD after I installed Windows 10 a few days ago. I suspended the system (closed the laptop), and when I opened it nothing weird happened. But, after a few minutes, I got the BSOD.
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000c2 (0x0000000000000007, 0x0000000000001254, 0x0000000000000000, 0xffffc0002b3a2010.
