BSOD :: Won't Get Past Boot At All

Feb 10, 2016

Last night I accidentally hit 'hibernate' and as i was in a rush i held the power button. Low and behold i woke up this morning went to put it on and got to the BSOD. I basically get to the login screen, login and then it repeats. Ive had the BSOD before but it just restarted and everything was fine. Now I'm trying to turn the pc on and its stuck in a reboot cycle, doesn't get to the login screen. I've literally tried everything, the PC won't even reset or anything. Genuinely stuck....

Performance :: ASUS G74SX Doesn't Boot Past The ASUS Logo?

Feb 10, 2016

The other day, I tried to do a factory reset on my laptop, but it failed, and I could only click cancel. Now, when I booted up my computer, it goes to the ASUS logo, then a black screen, still backlit, with an underscore flashing in the upper left corner of the screen. I can access the BIOS, and have been trying to do boot overrides. I don't have the ASUS Recovery partition installed on the laptop, and I don't have any possible ways to install an ISO. T

Cannot Get To Continue Past Welcome Screen

Nov 30, 2015

Decided to install Windows 10 this weekend. From what I can tell, it installed properly. But cannot get past the "Welcome to Window 10" Screen. See image below. I am on a home-built PC with Window 7 Pro. All current updates to Windows 7 are installed, and the Win 10 compatability screen shows that my system is 100% compatible.I have been searching all over the internet to find a solution, and nothing seems to apply to me. here's what I've done:

I have rebooted. Disabled Microsoft's antivirus. Disabled ALL USB ports except for Mouse and Keyboard within the BIOS. I made sure my Bios is up to date (Asus Rampage IV Extreme). Unplugged everything from the PC, USB and Ethernet cable.

I have been able to get to a troubleshooting screen. See below. I can use Mouse and Keyboard here. But cannot boot into Win10 with mouse and Keyboard. I enabled Safe Mode, but when F8 is hit at startup, I am only able to get to a selection of Hard Drives (3rd Photo). The only thing I am able to do is revert back to Windows 7, which works fine after that.

I have tried installing from Windows Update, and the direct link download. I've uninstalled the Nvidia drivers, and still not able to proceed past the first image below. It's as if the mouse and keyboard do not work. So I cannot tell if the system is locking up when it gets to this point, or if something else is happening. The error code I get is: c1900101-40019, but don't see an exact answer to what that full code means.

Installation :: Can't Get Past Login Screen

Oct 17, 2015

I have a desktop computer that I just built with Windows 7 home premium installed on it. It was working great but yesterday I decided to upgrade to Windows 10. After the upgrade, it brought me to a screen that says welcome back with my username and a space for me to put my password. When I input the correct password, the computer freezes and eventually restarts and brings me to the same screen again. Pressing F2 or Del while it powers on does nothing and so does pressing F8. I cannot restart while holding shift because there is no restart option on the login screen it brings me to. I know that the password in right because if I put in something else it just says password incorrect. Clicking on "I'm not *myusername*"also causes a crash.

My computer easily meets the requirements for the OS and the SSD it installed on still had over 40 gigabytes left on it after downloading the 5 gigabyte file so I don't think it's a hardware or storage problem.I don't care if I have to restore it to windows 7 or reinstall windows 10, I just want it to work.

Installation :: Can't Upgrade To PRO / Can't Get Past Product Key Window

Jul 21, 2015

I am trying to upgrade GENUINE Windows 8.1 PRO x64 to Windows 10 Pro x64 from the ISO I made from the Microsoft RTM files. I am upgrading from within the 8.1 OS and choosing the option to keep "nothing" of my settings and personal files.

I have two problems.

The first is that the installation asks for a product key. On the other hand, when I upgraded my Windows 7 machine to 10 from within the OS it didn't ask for a product key. Why do I need to provide the product key to upgrade my 8.1 system, but not my 7 system?

Second problem is that I can not upgrade from 8.1 PRO to Win10 PRO. When I put in the general product key for the Win10 HOME edition the install proceeds, but it does not take the other (different) product key corresponding to the Win10 PRO version, even though it should. Why can't I go 8.1 PRO -> 10 PRO?

Computer Won't Load Past Start Up Screen

Nov 11, 2015

My laptop began moving incredibly slow last night, like the cursor would hardly move and it sounded like it was running extra hard. I turned it off and this morning it won't load past the start up screen. And still, the windows loading icon spins incredibly slow.

Eventually it goes to a black screen for some time, then the automatic repair icon appears, then "diagnosing your pc". It made it past that once and got to the advanced option screen but was moving so slowly that I couldn't click on anything.

Can't Get Past Password Screen When Logging Into Yahoo Mail

Mar 13, 2016

I had no problems with either upgrade on my laptop to Win10 Home or desktop PC to Win10 Pro, It's only after a recent update on my PC with Pro that I can't get past the password screen when logging into Yahoo mail. Filling in my user name/email account works fine but the next screen for my password won't work. I click the "continue" button but nothing happens. This is the only site so far where this happened.

Unable To Get Past Loading Screen - How To Get Into Safe Mode Without Restart

Oct 16, 2015

I installed Windows 10 on a MS Vista OS, Viao laptop about a month ago. Everything has been fine. I've been learning how to use Windows 10, and have been more or less happy with it.

On October 16, 1015, I booted the laptop just like I do every morning around 8:30 am. I got past the loading screen, got the Loading screen photo image, and then the login screen. I logged in, and got an alert that Windows 10 updates were available. Since I had 30 some minutes before I needed to actually USE the machine I told it to update. I clicked the update button, and Windows 10 partially logged me out to do the update. When windows restarted, I got past the loading screen, and got to the Login screen.

But after putting in my Windows credentials, I got a blue screen with a white circle progress indicator, and it sat like that for about 20 minutes.

I restarted by pressing the power button, but am now unable to even to the loading screen. As soon as I hear the "booting windows" sound, the blue screen with the white circle progress indicator comes up. I've tried this about 5 times, letting it sit for about 30 minutes each time.

I am trying to find a way to get into safe mode without the use of the "restart" function, but either that data doesn't exist or I am not using the correct search terms to find it.

BSOD :: While Using Chrome Or Right After Boot Up

Oct 2, 2015

I've gotten the BOSD 7 times today. The BOSD said it was because of various things throughout the day, at first it said it was Memory Management, but after that I just started to get annoyed.

Checking back through the event logs, the bugcheck says the errors were: 0x00000050; 0x000000ef ; 0x0000001a; 0x0000000a; 0x00000139; 0x000000c1

If it isn't obvious, I really don't know how to solve this or if the bugcheck errors useful at all. What I do know is that I was just using google chrome when some of the crashes happened. Also during the day, several times I booted up my computer and logged in and then went away for 5 minutes after logging in (without doing anything). When I came back, it was obvious that my computer had restarted.

BSOD :: Computer Won't Boot Up

Feb 10, 2016

I am using Dell inspiron laptop (pretty old one) which started acting weirdly. Upon examining, there was a problem with HDD so I had it changed.

As soon as I got new HDD installed and installed Windows 10 on it, computer started acting weird again - slow startups, random freeze etc.- but it was running ok and I was fine with it. But earlier today, it suddenly displayed BSOD and crashed when it was idle. Now to the main and the funny part, it does not boot anymore. To elaborate, blank screen appears after BIOS screen (right when the logo of windows should be displayed) and it remains blank for several more minutes before the logo and spinning dots magically appear, it doesnt disappear thereafter.

I figured, I could run startup repair or some other tool to solve the problem by booting from the DVD of windows 10. Now for this one, the logo appears with the spinning dots which disappears after a while like it should. And after it disappears, blank screen persists thereafter. Dumbfounded, I tried booting from a USB stick of Windows 8 I had which gave the same problem.

I have already tried altering most of the options in BIOS and the diagnostic tool gives and all-ok for all the installed hardware.

BSOD :: After 30 Minutes Of Boot Up

Nov 5, 2015

I run Win10 under Parallels at MacBook. Few days ago it started to crash about 30 minutes after boot. I don't need to do anything, just wait and it will die. Usually it's REGISTRY_ERROR, but sometimes another error.

sfc shows some errors, but they don't look dangerous.

I've talked to Parallels guys and they claim it's Windows issue, not VM. Checked Win7 VM and works fine.

Installation :: Laptop Won't Move Past Start Screen - Been Rebooting For 8 Hours

Nov 14, 2015

I have a Lenovo flex 2 laptop that is brand new and used to run windows 8.1 until earlier today.

I opted for the recommended win 10 upgrade, and things went smoothly until it was time to reboot.

The laptop begins to boot, I get to see the Lenovo start screen for a few seconds, and then it turns off before starting over again.

This loop has been going on for 8 hours, as of right now.

All attempts to access the boot menu via the F2, F8, F11, and F12 keys have failed, and the novo key has had no effect.

I am desperate at this point- the laptop is brand new. And now it is next to useless. No actual customer support is available in the country I live in. I just want a way to go back to win8.1.

BSOD :: From Cold Boot If Computer Has Been Off A While

Oct 30, 2015

BSOD happens only when the computer cold boots from a prolonged inactive state. If the PC is off for several hours and is turned on it occurs. Computer typically blue screens, sometimes it freezes at the bios splash screen where they Windows 10 circular loading icon appears on this Gigabyte. I've seen multiple reasons for the occurrence such as bad pooler caller and irql not less or equal. The BSOD happens once then after the computer functions as normal with no other issues.

Power supply, graphics card, and SSD were both pulled from a previous build with zero issues in that build. New to this build is the motherboard, processor, and RAM.

Ran Memtest86 with no errors for 8 passes but I just realized it was after the initial cold boot BSOD and not going from the inactive state to the test directly. Will be swapping out the RAM at Microcenter today just to eliminate that possibility.

Windows 10 was a clean install but it happened on the previous install, BIOS is flashed to the most recent release.

BSOD :: Crashes Happen In First Boot

Oct 15, 2015

I have bsods and game crashes of steam. I putted a new ram because the previous ram kit died (faulty rams causing bsods)and also I have a new graphic card r9 280 (because the previous gtx480 died too). What can I do? Bumps are not specific. I believed that sound driver causing problems and I disabled sound controller from bios and uninstalled the drivers. Unfortunately bsods don't stop. I have checked for drivers , updates, memtest but nothing. I noted that bsods and crashes happen in the first boot. If I have a bsod or I reboot after a game crash then BSODS and crashes stop to happen.

BSOD :: System Crashing - Can't Boot To OS

Nov 16, 2015

My Windows 10 (64bit) has always had issues with "page fault in nonpaged area" errors, usually when rebooting from sleep. Yesterday, my system crashed again again. Instead of booting up as normal, it crashed again with the same error, rebooted, and crashed again. My computer can no long boot to Windows.

I've searched online and have seen that it could be my RAM, so I tried running one stick at a time and it didn't work. I also tried to use a bootable flash drive (made with Media Creation Tool) to reformat my hard drive / reinstall Windows 10, but I get the same error/crash when I boot from the flash drive.

Here's my system specs:

CPU: Intel I-4790k
RAM: G.Skill RIPJAW 2x8GB
MOTHERBOARD: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150
STORAGE: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD

BSOD :: No Boot After Partition Extended

Jan 18, 2016

I just recently upgraded from an earlier build of Windows 10 to the latest build 11099. That went okay. But the problem was when I decided to extend the system partition (as it had only 3GB free left), after rebooting to extend the partition with MiniTool Partition Wizard (it required me to reboot so it could unlock the partition). That seemed like it went okay too, but after restarting, I would get a BSOD and no boot up at all. It seems like the partition extension has messed up the boot files. I say that because a folder named "$WINDOWS.~BT" has been created in the root directory of the system drive. (Now it's drive G: because I'm on another system in another partition temporarily).

And some other folder as well:

So my question is this. Since I have all these boot files here, could it possibly be that while the partition was being extended, the software I used might have messed up those files, and now my Windows doesn't boot up?

If so, or whatever the reason for that matter, is there anything I can do to take those boot files back to where they belong?

BSOD Saying Unmountable Boot Volume

Aug 20, 2015

After upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 within the last week, everything was fine at first. Then this morning Everything on screen froze, and when I did a force restart, the following happened (and continues to happen ad nauseam):

Windows tries to boot as normal, but I get the BSOD saying Unmountable_Boot_Volume

It then restarts, saying it's going to repair the problem, only this time it flashes to a blue screen that says Chose Your Keyboard Layout. At this point I am unable to use either my mouse or keyboard. I've tried wireless, wired, all USB ports. Nothing.

I don't have Windows 7 disc (came pre-loaded from the factory), and I don't have a Windows 10 disc or flash drive. The only other computer I have to work with this is an old laptop running XP. I downloaded the Media Creation Tool, but when I try and run it on my XP laptop it says it's not a valid win32 application, so making a flash drive boot seems out of the question.
