My Windows 10 machine is stuck in Shutting Down mode and will not respond to any action, including turning it off. When I turn it back on it is still in Shutting Down mode. How do I get out of this mode, and what causes it?

My Asus T-100 hybrid tablet/laptop won't wake up from hibernation. It tells me to swipe to shut down computer and nothing happens. I ran down the battery, plugged in and then recharged. It's still stuck on hibernate and won't let me into windows at all.

The computer does not respond and the hdd light stops blinking.When I kill the power and reboot, the computer loads properly into windows 7 desktop then says that windows 10 could not be installed and says this:

Windows 10. while typing a email in outlook I try to open a word document. the machine immediate went into error mode saying there was a power problem and restarting my PC. tried with working word and opening another folder - same result.
View 1 RepliesI have windows 10 pro and in my notifications and action center, airplane mode is in blue and wont let me turn it off, I'm using a desktop and not a laptop anyway to fix this or is this normal?
Also in the notification and action center, the wifi tab is greyed out.
I just upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10. The computer is connected to the home network via a gigabit switch. I notice that when the computer is in sleep mode ,there is still network activity but only the 10 mb/s connection LED is lit. When I had win7 OS and computer is in sleep mode , that same LED on the network switch would be off signifying no network activity at all .
Is this normal for Win 10 ?
I have been using win 10 for quite a long time and am happy with it. This evening when I was opening up a word document it behaved strangely . I could shut it down but after that everything stopped working. Ctrl alt delete wont respond. I had to shut down the computer using the Power button. When I restarted the computer . It immediately went into update mode screen with the usual configuring windows and warning about not shutting down the computer .The screen is orange with circulating dots. ( first time I see an orange screen , its usually blue) .At the beginning there was a short indication of % like about 35% but now only circulating dots . Nothing else works . Its already been running for 1/2 hour or so. I will leave it overnight to see whether I can get to the log in screen.
What to do if I cant get to the log in screen ? Without log in screen I cant get to system restore? Is there a way to boot into recovery mode? I do have a Macrium image and a Macrium recovery flash drive. Will windows recognize this thumb drive on boot or do I have to boot into Bios first to change order of boot .
Alternatively can make and use win 10 recovery flash drive from another window 10 machine?
I was shutting down my pc, when suddenly a Blue Screen Of Death appears after the "Shutting Down" screen...resource_not_owned
View 1 RepliesI am running Windows 10 Pro. My computer had BSOD quite frequently these few days. It's kind of weird. I was unable to replicate the problem if I just use it for like 1-2 hours. If I use it for a little longer, BSOD will occur when I am trying to shut down. There were no problems at all when I am using it. It is not interrupting my usage but it is really annoying to see BSOD every time whenever I am shutting down.

View 5 RepliesI have upgraded from w 8 to 10, and later a did a fresh install of windows 10. The PC is a Lenovo M180, CPU D2700, display adaptor AMD Radeon HD6400 that I use to drive a HDMI TV. It has been working fine for some years with windows 7. Then I got the messages for upgrade to 10.
Every attempt to run video crashes the machine with error. WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR .... Using W10 Photo or TV and Video, but also when accessing any video on Chrome, or apps like NETFLIX. What can I do?
Every since I upgraded to windows 10 and boot my desktop machine I get a BSOD with Bad Pool header. It keeps looping and rebooting with the same error. The only way around it is to go into the bios and save changes and then it allows me to log in. I have disabled fast reboot and still no joy. Attached is a log file with all the relevant info

I have a 3 day out of the box, Asus Zenbook pro. I am getting the BSOD fairly regularly.
I have updated both display drivers from the manufacturers website, the WIFI driver, as well as the BIOS. Everything else was up to date. I have done a hard reset, and chose to have the drive wiped during the install.
I have installed, and uninstalled the few apps that I have had time to put on here, but after only 3 days, I don't think I have given myself time to narrow down if it is a software conflict.
my pc was fine when i played it using windows 8, its jsut after upgrading to 10 this error has occurred. Here is the Debugg. Ive updated most of my drivers to Windows 10 and i doubt its a hardware thing as it as was fine before.

I installed Windows 10 PRO, and played with it for some hours with no problems. I also run Intel XTU to stress it and all is good.
Now I want to connect the hard drives from my old PC but I have this problem: after a few minutes into windows or even at boot, the PC freezes with machine_check_exception blue screen - no numeric code at all.
I tried to connect an old WD 1TB disk, an old Maxtor 1TB disk and also with a brand new Samsung 850 EVO 1TB, these drives connected to different SATA ports each time.
When I detach all the drives apart of course the boot drive, the PC will start normally.
Later I tried to connect the new SSD (one SSD is M.2 boot disk, the other is SATA data disk) and I got into Windows, had the time to format the SSD data disk but then on the next boot I got the same problem.
Could it be some UEFI settings?
Date: 10th September 2015. Machine working fine under windows 10 for over a month. Checked to see what Microsoft updates after doing a Microsoft Defender full scan and everything ok. It seemed from settings->check for updates that there were a number of updates that required the machine to download and restart. Decided to update immediately and did the same on a dell laptop and Linx 10 tablet all running windows 10. All machines did update and restarted fine, except my main laptop - Toshiba Satellite S55t-A5334 did not recover after the update and is now continuously in "Restarting" loop. Tried powering up and down and trying to force it to reset into some sort of safe mode. how I can get it into state that will allow me to go back to the last known working state as I'm fairly sure this is an update that is not compatible with the hardware.

View 2 RepliesI recently set up 3 computers for my family, doing clean installs of Win10 for all. On two of the computers youtube is set to restricted mode all the time and can't be changed. The third computer has restricted mode set to off.
Many people have this problem, and in every single troubleshooting thread I've seen the problem is supposedly with Microsoft's family safety feature. All three of my computers are signed into my one MS account. Under the family safety tab there are no other "child" or "adult" users listed.
How is it that one computer can work properly, but the other two have youtube stuck on restricted mode?
So I was trying to restart my Windows 10 desktop computer a little while ago, and accidentally hit Sleep Mode instead. My monitor is dormant, and there are no lights on the front of the computer. I moved the mouse around. Nothing. Pressed a mouse button, still nothing. Hit various keyboard keys, still nothing. Alt-F4 a few times followed by an Enter. Nope. Ctrl-Alt-Del a couple of times. Nada. Hit the power button. Zip. Held down the power button for four seconds, PC shuts off! Pressed power button again, the computer started to power up, but no graphics, no POST beep. Hit restart button, heard fans power back up, but that's all. Shut it off on the power supply, waited 30 seconds, switched back on. Nothing, no fans. Apparently it is off. Pressed the power button, I hear the fans spin up, then it sounds like it shuts down, then they spin back up. Hold power button down for four seconds to shut it off, then unplug power cord from back of PC for 30 seconds. Plug it back in, press power button, and fans spin up, then it sounds like PC goes into sleep mode for a second or two, then fans power back up. Still no lights on front of computer.
I have been a PC tech in the past, so I know my way around a computer. I've tried everything I can think of, save trying to reinstall Windows 7, dancing over the danged thing while singing Bibbidy Bobbidy Boo, or tossing it out the window. This is an older PC, built by me in late 2008. I need a new one badly, but can't afford it right now. I MUST get this one back online!
In the diagnostic startup mode there's no search so I can't run msconfig. Is there another way to do run this? I got to where I'm at now by running msconfig, staying on the general tab (not the boot), unchecking normal startup, then checking diagnostic. No matter what I've tried (including combing this forum and searching online) I still can't get out of diagnostic startup. There are other things going on with my PC, such as at least one virus, the Trojan Zeus Banker. I'd like to try a couple of more things before I put my PC in the shop and probably pay mucho dinero.
View 1 RepliesThe upgrade to W10 has left me with a blue 'Welcome Back' screen and a 'Next' button. That's it! Clicking Next causes a reboot back to this screen. I cannot even open in safe mode and all boot options take me back to this screen.
