View 1 RepliesJust had an update overnight to what I think is Windows Phone 10.The icons in the corner of all the banners flash constantly and pressing the banners does nothing.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to get to my toolbars in IE 10 and when I press alt nothing happens I can't find the toolbar to add my favorites bar. It is already checked in settings.
View 1 RepliesI have this constant loading going on somewhere in my computer. it interferes with my games or if I put anything to full screen it automatically pulls it out of full screen and minimizes it. It also interferes with my typing. If I'm trying to type in an address to go to a website the flashing loading will make it so I have to keep clicking in the address bar to finish typing out the address. auto saved usernames are also an issue. where I'll type the first three letters of my username. It will pull up then immediately disappear. I have to be really fast to click it or result to the constant clicking of the username bar to put my username in.
Also an issue with right clicking anything. the right click "open, delete, new folder, etc" will come up and before I can move to click what I want it disappears. I restarted my computer and it went away once. I thought the issue was resolved and paid no attention to it. I then turned my computer off and back on after a virus scan and the problem persists again. I tried turning the computer off and on again but again the problem continues. how I can find whats constantly loading/causing the flashing loading icon next to my mouse?
I upgraded from Windows 7 Pro and find that the 'Show Desktop' rectangular space at the far right side of the notification area is missing although posted desktop images Windows 10 have the same rectangular space. However, if I hover the cursor over the screen border in that area for about 5 seconds the desktop appears and if I click on the border it remains otherwise it reverts to the previous screen. So, I assume that the 'Show Desktop' functionality is working OK even though the rectangular space is missing. How to restore the rectangular space?
View 3 Repliesi'm using windows 10 insider now in build 10547, recently some file with specified extension showing the wrong icon, all the wrong icon is same as in the screenshoot:
All error files have icon same like this picture, but all file is can opened with right program, the document is one of from some error file type, last time i have error with archive file and video (all extension eg: mkv, mp4, etc) but fixed when i'm install the media player, and archive file fixed when i'm reinstalling new theme in winrar application. This error can't fixed by change open with, example for my picture file, if i'm using windows photo viewer icon is error, showing icon like the above picture, then when i change open with using photos file icon is right showing the photos application like icon, if i change to windows photo viewer again then the icon wrong again. Rebuilding icon cache not fixing the problem, so what i can do? see icon like that even though the program is run correctly.
When pressing Start. all of my applications avatar/icons are missing.. suddenly last 2 days

Also, icon thumbnails wont show up in folders, only on desktop when refreshed.
View 1 RepliesThe little "table and chairs" icon on the task bar that would take me to a window that showed what programs were open "behind the scenes" is missing. How can I get it back?
View 1 RepliesRecently I have downloaded the bookwalker pc application on my pc. Whenever I double click on the icon on my desktop or try to run it as admin, my cursor would show that its loading but the app never launches. The specs of the bookwalker pc app clearly states that it is compatible with windows 10, and yet it would not launch.
Here's the link to bookwalker for ref: [URL] ....
I have several computers, one laptop recently has a new problem. The internet network connection in the corner has a tiny yellow triangle and says the connection is limited and says it is NOT connected to the internet - even though it IS connected to the internet. It does this for both the wireless icon and the ethernet icon, so it can't be a driver issue.
I have rolled back the drivers, gone to the HP support site to get their drivers, updated to the latest drivers, and nothing gets rid of those triangles.
It's also not a router issue, because I have another computer on the same router with no problem on either the wifi or ethernet. I've done sfc /scannow in both safe mode and normal mode. I've looked for any errors and there are none. It is very annoying.
Ok, I thought this was just bitlocker stuff but its all removable drives.
When I connect a removable drive I don't get a notification banner. I get a sound and the notification goes straight to Action Center instead of showing the banner. I've gone in and disabled and renabled all the notifications, Ive made sure both "Banner" and "Sounds" are enabled for everything, but still nothing.
When I get an email in Outlook I get the banner like I'm supposed to, others programs like Logitech Gaming Software are also showing banners, so it seems like a device connection thing at the moment.
I just received my MSI laptop with Windows 10 and I'm still feeling around on how to use the new OS (upgraded from Windows 7). I plugged in my ext. HDD and something popped up asking something along the lines of "What do you want to do with this?". I was like "Okay, everything's going fine so far."
The problem came when I wanted to eject my HDD though. I couldn't find the icon in the little notifications area with the arrow. I couldn't eject the HDD from "This PC" either. In the end, I just unplugged it, since there wasn't anything too important on it.
I've tried enabling "Quick Removal" in the device manager, but that checkbox doesn't even show up. Instead, it's replaced with the "Write-caching policy" options. I've also tried turning the notifications on in the taskbar, but that doesn't work either. I turned on task manager, safely eject..., and location, but none of them show up. I've restarted my computer as well.
Sometimes while im playing games or watching youtube videos or just doing nothing i will get random white banners of text that have ads in them like when you scroll over something and it tells you what it does. Here is a picture http: [URL] ....
They keep popping up on random spots on my screen and dont go away until about 5 mins or so then another one pops up. This might be adware or something i dont know any fix?
Intermittently, when I press some keys on the keyboard, I would hear a triple-tone from Windows 10. Nothing would happen, but the three tones have progressively lower pitch, immediately followed by a four-tone signal, which have progressively higher pitch. This is the same signal that Windows makes when one unplugs an USB device and plugs it back in.
I cannot figure out which keys trigger this reaction. I know for a fact that arrow keys do it, but I think the enter key does it also, or even the space bar.
This only happens on my son's computer (desktop, home-built). There's no adverse effect on the performance of the computer, but it's a mystery why it happens and what the computer is actually doing.
If you press Volume UP + Volume DOWN 3 times, the screen of your device will flash in black.
If done In the phone, it will vibrate 3 times before the flashing;
If done in PC, the opened windows will be rearranged to completely appear in the screen, just like when you change resolution. The mouse pointer will also be centered.

After:
For PC, it can bring back windows or dialogs that might be placed out of the screen.
For phone, I didn't find something useful for that yet.
I have a windows 10 upgrade from day one and today it said that my upgrade is ready and that i should "click here to schedule an upgrade" but all it did was to bring me back to the "notify my when ready" screen.
View 1 RepliesIn Windows 7/8/8.1 I would press the Start/Windows button and start typing the name of a program (ie: Firefox, Word, etc) and it would pop up, learn, and as I did the same thing in the future.....I would just press Windows key, type wor, and Word would pop up and I press enter. Don't need to take my hands off the keyboard.
Windows 10 does not do that. I type Word and get Wordpad. I type Firefox and get 'Download Firefox - Free web browser', Secure (for SecureCRT) give me 'SecureCRT (file folder)', even though these apps are installed. Is there a way to put the apps in the search?
My windows 10, that I can't solve. every time I press backspace on my keyboard windows shuts down. How to solve that. right now i'm updating my windows and if it works i let you know.
View 6 RepliesIs there a way to get windows Explorer to refresh the view automatically when a new file is added or after renaming a file?
It does it occasionally itself but most of the time I have to press F5 to have the view updated.
I recently upgraded Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.0. I have tried reinstalling Synaptics, removing and uninstalling Synaptics, disabling palmcheck, but it wouldn't work. It's annoying when you are playing a game that requires moving while pressing keys on your keyboard. I also have Synaptics 7.5 (19.0.10). The only way I can move my mouse while pressing any key is pressing (any key) + shift.
View 2 RepliesCan't delete a word in notepad, issue is still persisting since the upgrade from win8.1 to win10. For Example, consider the following sentence (without quotes "Under the hood".I usually use shortcuts,so if I want to erase "hood" I won't erase by pressing Backspace key until it is erased completely. There is a shortcut in windows to erase a specific word, and that is Ctrl + Backspace. That way if the cursor is at the end of word "hood" and I press the shortcut to erase it as mentioned above,it won't,instead of erasing the word it'll just make a rectangular box in vertical positon. You can try for yourself too,try erasing a single word with the shortcut Ctrl + Backspace. It won't,it'll just make a vertical rectangular box.
View 1 RepliesI have a problem with Cortana not opening after pressing the mic button on the taskbar and "Hey Cortana" does not work also. This is a clean install of windows 10 on a Lenovo laptop, I had no problems with Cortana before.
View 9 RepliesI am having an issue with the windows 10 notifications, the ones with the little blue circle with a white i in the middle, sticking. After I press the X to close them they stay on the screen in front of everything until I restart.
View 4 RepliesI sometimes connect to my Windows 10 PC at my work place from home.
When I was using Windows-7(work place PC), I was able to select the menu button (lower-left) and select 'Lock Screen' menu from the shutdown sub-menu. I recently received a new desktop PC which is Windows-10, but I found Windowns 10 doesn't have such 'lock-screen' menu that I can choose with my mouse. So the only way I can lock the screen is using Window-L button which is ok when I'm at work. But when I'm remotely logged in from my home, if I press Window-L keys, my home notebook is screen locked, not my work place Desktop.
So, last week I upgraded my Toshiba L850-161 from Windows 7 to 10. Since the upgrade my laptop now starts up as soon as the lid is lifted, without me pressing the power button to start the computer. I am shutting the computer down via the start menu.
I thought this problem may be caused by the fast Start-Up in Windows 10, but my friend also uses this feature on his laptop but he still needs to press the power button to start-up.
I then did some research and found the Panel Open - Power On software included by Toshiba. I checked to see if this was activated but it was disabled by default.
I'm a bit stuck here. According to my settings my laptop shouldn't start when the panel is opened, but it does, and I don't want it to. I'd rather start my laptop the old-fashioned way - with the power button.
