Black Screen With Repeated Vibrates And Completely Unresponsive?
Jun 23, 2015
I had the Windows 10 DEV mode, battery died and only had three icons on the screen when it came back on. Tried to press the power button to have the screen turn off, and then it became completely unresponsive. Tried to do a soft reset, made it start vibrating repeatedly and had an entirely black screen or would just continuously restart after the AT&T symbol. Then after that, the screen stopped restarting and gave short repetitive vibrates. Soft reset and hard reset don't work.

I downloaded windows 10 and all had been running smoothly, however, when I turned my laptop on this morning my background was black and about 20 new icons had appeared on the desktop all of which were just white and blank, i normally only have rhe recycle bin. i tried to run things but nothing worked, i also couldn't get the start menu up, I've tried restarting but it isn't doing anything.

It's been a while since I've upgraded to Windows 10 but the problem still exists. To leave this short, when I'm doing something like watching a movie, installing files, browsing the web, playing a game, etc. My computer just becomes completely unresponsive. I can't move my mouse, I can't use ctrl+alt+delete to get to Task Manager, when I check to see if my keyboard is still working, I try to turn caps lock off and on and that doesn't work. So whatever this issue is, it's just completely crashing my computer. This freezing causes me to hard restart my computer every single time.
I don't want to get back to Windows 7 so I've been dealing with it by keeping my PC close to me that way I can restart it when needed, but it's annoying when you're trying to do something and all of a sudden your computer just freezes.

My mother has a HP Touchsmart 600 that I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Windows 10 works fine on there, once it finally boots up. I've noticed this scenario. Power Button to turn on computerBIOS DisplaysWindows 10 logo displaysscreen goes completely black for a couple of seconds Screen comes back on, stays dark/gray and I can see my mouse pointer and it moves. The boot process hangs here for several minutes, usually and most of the time, the computer doesn't even go past this point.EVENTUALLY, after several minutes, Windows 10 finally gets to the login screen, if it is going to login.

I've just upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I have an HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC. This happened twice: when I left my laptop and came back after an hour or so, the screen was black (as usually), but the laptop was completely unresponsive. I couldn't wake it up neither by moving/clicking my mouse nor by hitting any key on the keyboard (both external and embedded mice/keyboards). Furthermore, the LED of my laptop on/off h/w switch button was constantly on, instead of blinking.

After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10… The 1st time it got me to the welcome screen with my name and asked for my password. Typing in password made it unresponsive, all I could do was move the Mouse around. Searching the Internet for a solution on another computer, I unplugged my Wi-Fi adapter and rebooted. I was able to log into Windows 10 and everything seemed okay.
I plugged the Wi-Fi adapter back in and rebooted, it got to a screen with the date and a picture of a beach. From there I couldn't do anything. The only thing on the screen was the Internet icon in the lower right-hand side of the screen. There was nothing to click, I tried clicking all over the screen, nothing. I unplugged the Wi-Fi adapter and rebooted. It got to the same screen, only difference was it indicated no Internet connection available. Nothing to click on, clicking on blank space, the date, the Internet icon, All did nothing.

Bought an Asus X550Z-WB11 off of Amazon, started it up, immediately upgraded to Win 10, and I'm getting issues with my screen.
If I let it fall asleep for say, ten minutes, then wake it up, it boots up normally, I see the screen for a moment, and then the screen turns of again and no button pressing turns or waiting turns it back on.
Sometimes I can get it to turn back on after it putting it to sleep then waking it up a few times; when I get a success the back light turns on and blinks several times, and then the screen turns on and blinks a few times before stabilizing.
If I turn it off and on, the screen usually turns on with no problem.
The first time I restarted my laptop, it told me there was an error and it fixed it, but the screen still blinks and I haven't gotten that message again.
The way it blinks reminds me of having a faulty composite connection and having to wiggle it around into the right position, but no angling of the screen, tilting of the laptop, or light tap anywhere had any effect.
It's not that black screen issue that everyone else has, the screen is completely off.
The X550Z-WB11 has:
AMD A10 7400p
Readeon R6 7400p
8GB Ram
1TB HDD

Upgraded from Windows 7. Several pages load or don't load:
1. Control Panel loads but the screen is completely blank.
2. Customizing the font page won't even load. Get message the change font page won't load.
Why I get blank screens. Can't find anything on these problems. Have to work around them at present. Have found a workaround for the Control Panel but not the changing font utility.

On battery power, my laptop shuts off with no BSOD after 20 minutes of light use (web browsing). Laptop will not restart on battery power - only when plugged in. When restarted (plugged in) the battery level shows 85%.
Laptop diagnostics say the battery is fine - 99% charge capacity. HP diagnostics say the battery is fine.
HP 455 notebook running windows 10 64 bit. When plugged in, the laptop works perfectly. I see kernel power error event 41 task 63

I've been having two issues for the past few weeks. After a while, (it varies time wise) the start menu and search bar become unresponsive and will no longer open. The only way to make them respond again is to restart; however, this comes with another issue. It will hang forever on the "Restarting..." screen unless I do a hard shutdown.
On the other hand, a hardware error keeps appearing and it appears to talk about an Nvidia driver.
After checking the reliability monitor, it shows that I have two critical faults:
I've tried numerous troubleshooting steps, which I will list below, and none of them have provided any lasting results:
Disabling Cortana (worked at first, now the issue is back)A clean install of the latest Nvidia drivers, twice on two separate days (fixed the hardware error for a day, now it's back)sfc /scannow (It shows no integrity violations)Installing any and all windows updates (nada)
I even chatted with a support agent at Microsoft and the only thing he could tell me was that "User Accounts are being corrupted and that Microsoft is researching a fix". I'm confused how User Accounts interfere with the start menu and cause a hardware error. This never happened when I was on Windows 8.1, so I am confused as to what has changed (other than the OS version, of course).

I have a relatively new Dell Inspiron 7000 series (7548). Installed Windows 10 and about 15 seconds after logging in I keep getting an error message about an internal power failure. What an absolute f#$% up. I have never had a problem with the laptop. I tried the Restore System Point option but it says that there aren't any system points saved.

I did a bit of research and this seems to have been an issue for a while, or has been in the past. Was upgrading to windows 10, I first had to restart my pc cause it was initially stuck on that preparing to install problem with the green bar being stuck around 25%.
It then got through that and began the installation process with the big circle and rebooting process. However around 91% when I last looked at it it was just black screen, this stayed this way for about 3-4 hours. I then decided to reboot the pc and it has now booted to the login screen. Is this a known bug or could there be a possible issue?
The problem seems a bit different as some people I saw have had to fall back on PC restore points etc. So not sure if it installed or what could be the problem.
Also side note, I upgraded my pc when windows 10 first publically released, but rolled back because I had about 5min shutdown times.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge with an Intel I5 processor, 64 bit with no hardware upgrades (stock). I had accidentally stepped on the screen (fell off my lap and then crunch) which was mangled beyond repair, so I have been using it similar to a tower, with a VGA and/or HDMI connected monitor (my HDMI cable went bad, I picked up a new cable but hadn't hooked it up to the second monitor. I started my free upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to 10 last night. I woke up to the black screen/mouse pointer issue which is what brought me to this thread. I tried the recommended fix:
1. Hit ctrl, type in password and enter
2. Win Key + P + Down Arrow. (Win Key + P only seems to do the same thing)
This brought up options to
1. Disconnect projector (Tried this and lost connection to the VGA even after reboot)
2. Duplicate (Screen is still black with mouse cursor, but I saw a little bit of red and blue pixels at the bottom where the task bar should be until I disconnected and re-connected the VGA, then it was back to black screen and cursor)
3. Extend (still black screen and cursor)
4. Connect Projector (still black screen and cursor)
I'm not sure what to do. I must have some OS installed, because I am able to also perform these operations from my USB Keyboard/Mouse. I'm just not sure how to get Windows back on my VGA connection (I haven't tried HDMI because I did not have it connected when I ran the update.) I thought Duplicate displays would do the trick, but apparently not. For as beat up as the laptop is on the outside, the hardware performs fine. I also have a 2nd laptop (work laptop, also a Lenovo W541) that I can use if any solution involves downloading something bootable.

The black screen occurs before login screen. It happens randomly. I have to move the mouse (haven't tried pressing keyboard) and it will show the login screen and windows will continue normally. On my device driver it shows only 1 display adapter that is NVIDIA GTX 970. My motherboard is H87-PLUS and its specs shows that it does have an Integrated Graphics Processor.
Tried installing Intel Graphics Driver but just shows 'This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software.' Tried disabling the lock screen too but its not working. Tried putting PCI-E as the default graphics in BIOS but its not working either. how could I prevent the black screen from showing up again?

I don't know what to do. I've tried everything. I am literally about to break down crying. I've been at this for six and a half hours now. I've completely run out of space on my 320GB hard drive, and I've been trying to clone to my new 1TB since I got home from work.
I've currently got windows 10 on a small HDD that I need to transfer to my newer, bigger drive. I do have multiple hard drive slots, as I need the OS on the big one. Don't ask why, it's complicated. Point is, I can't use the little one anymore and I need the OS as well as my files on the big guy.
I've tried 2 different cloning programs, each one taking ages to finish copying. The problem is, everywhere I go says the reason I have blackscreen when I try to boot is because I'm missing the 100MB hidden boot partition. But it's sitting right there.
I've tried booting with only the new HDD installed, tried 100 boot and BIOS settings, different slots, completely formatting the new HDD and starting over from scratch with the same program and a different one.
I've even tried booting from a recovery disk. That won't work either, and gives me the same black screen with a single horizontal bar blinking in the top left corner.
