Aug 17, 2015Ok so when i upgraded from Windows 10 my boot time was 23 seconds so that was fast, but after downloading the new nvidia driver for my GTX 970 my boot time is now really slow, i just turned on my PC right now and got my phone to see how fast it boots up and it booted up in 1 minute and 50 seconds and im like wtf why is it so slow and when i turn off my PC it usally takes 10 seconds but now its 20 seconds to turn it off. Aug 5, 2015Windows 10 is very slow to detect all USB devices I connect to it, whereas Windows 8.1 was nearly instant.
Since upgrading, it takes about a minute for Windows to realize that I have connected a device to it.
Web Search Not Connected To The Internet
Aug 9, 2015Ever since build 10130, Windows Search claims to not have access to the internet, yet my laptop DOES. I checked if my internet wasn't kidding me by searching up random shit on Google Chrome, and it turned out that god dam Windows Search was lying. I DID have access to the internet. Plus, when I try to search for an app on my PC, the Search Menu's background is just blank- nothing shows up! Tons of updates later- the problem still exists. I hope I'm not alone.

I am having trouble with my DNS. I can connect to the Internet. I can ping all devices from my NIC to the default gateway, I can even ping other networks if I have the IP address. This includes Google's 8.8.8.8, but when I try to ping URL..., it cannot find the host. I have tried virtually everything I know and what my IT network professional friend knows. I have all the correct drivers. This all started about a month ago when I lost my LAN connection after a Windows 10 update. Then a couple weeks later I lost WiFi. Here is what I have tried so far:
-Any and all ipconfig commands
-Set Google DNS as my DNS
-Full reformat with clean install of Windows 10
-New wireless adapter (Sabrent NT_WLAC 802.11ac USB WiFi adapter)
-New Ethernet cable
-Uninstall and reinstall drivers for LAN and WiFi
Performance :: Slow Boot Time On SSD And Slow Desktop Icons Loading
Aug 6, 2015I'm using an Intel SSD 240GB 520 series. Always loading very fast, i.e., about 8 seconds from cold boot.
Since windows 10 is installed, boot time is about 20 seconds and desktop icons take some time to refresh and load their images.
Regarding the boot time: I've narrowed it down the an unexplained read/write access on my external HDD eSATA which is used for backups, though currently all backup process are stopped.
When I remove / turn off my external HDD, boot time is about 8 seconds. I can't figure out why all of a sudden it required this access to this HDD.
As for the slow icon refresh.. how to fix this.
Networking :: Connected To Internet But No Access
Feb 10, 2016Recently my laptop has a boot error and auto recovery and maintenances could not solve the issue. So I reset the laptop but kept the files and now it boots perfectly fine however none of the internet is working. It shows that I am connected to the wifi but there is no access whatsoever. I even uninstaled my network adapters and even tried a wired conmection and everything seems to not work. All my other devices are connected to the router perfectly.
I am using a lenovo y50 touch with windows ten 64bit.
I have already tried updating drivers, deleting temp files, disabling firewall (antivirus was removed from reset), and already tried the ip config release and renew.
Connected To The Internet But Web Pages Will Not Load
Mar 3, 2016My friend's computer will not load web pages:
1. Google and Yahoo searches do work but
2. Clicking on a search result produces a something like "This page cannot be displayed".
3. The problem goes away in Safe Mode.
4. I have run the following commands in batch mode:
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
ipconfig /flushdns
nbtstat -R
nbtstat -RR
netsh int reset resetlog.txt
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
5. Other devices have no problem with the router.
6. I have scanned the computer with Malwarebytes, Windows Defender and Avast.
WiFi Connected But Won't Allow Internet Access
Jan 11, 2016I logged onto my laptop as usual this morning and opened up Firefox. However, on trying to open a website it responds as of I'm not connected. My WiFi says 'no Internet, secured'. I tried the mac and it has the same connection issues, but for some reason I can use the WiFi on my phone alright?

I am referring this to the Wifi Icon on the Bottom Right Corner near the Clock (Notification Area). There is no yellow asterix and I am properly connected to the internet. When I click this Wifi Icon , a window pops up and on its top it shows my ssid and below it shows connected.
Disconnect option is also here.
I have already changed my Wifi adapter - previously it was Wayona and now I am using Prolink. Both works well.
Networking :: Connected To Network But Secured No Internet?
Jan 30, 2016I was having some network problems and in the course of fixing them I uninstalled the network driver for my TP-Link AC600 Archer T2UH USB network card. This card has been working without a problem for months on 2.4 and 5Ghz channels and at high speeds > 150Mbps. When I attempted to reinstall the drivers, I can get connected to the WiFi but I get the Windows 10 message "Secured, no internet I have tried numerous drivers and I have now tried to connect using two separate NIC cards. (I had an old 802.11n usb adapter) as well as a 5Ghz wireless bridge that I used to use that connects to the PC via ethernet. All of these have connected to the network, but I get the same "Secured, no internet" message.
The only thing I can think of at this point is that I've somehow screwed up the adapter. I've looked at that ipv4 settings are they are all set to "Obtain an ip address automatically" and do not have a DNS name specified. I have attempted all the windows repair options as well and they return telling me their may be something wrong with the driver or the adapter. I'm at wits end.

I was trying to fix my rocket league connection so I followed this tutorial to reset the internet options of internet explorer and then to restore the options. I restarted my pc and now I can connect to my WiFi but none of my browsers or applications can access the internet.

Oct 6, 2015I am now encountering a series of bugs that i've never seen before in any windows.
OS: Windows 10 Pro official 64
Connection type: Wifi, no firewall activated
Applications impacted: Steam unable to connect, Google chrome unable to connect to install software, Mozilla Firefox same thing, and probably more apps get the same problem but i can download them and install if the installer doesn't have to download anything. It seems like a services that is not working inside windows installer.
I am able to navigate in Microsoft Edge, and some other apps, but unable to install other application, it is like the firewall is blocking the internet acces but the problem is no firewall are activated right now , nothing has been changed to the router settings as other computers on windows doesn't experience that problem. Networking :: System Indicates No Internet Connection On Restart But Actually Connected
Nov 12, 2015Roughly half the time I restart my PC I am told I am not connected to the internet, the Ethernet icon in the notification area shows a yellow triangle. but the thing is I am connected just fine and can access everything I normally do. Even microsoft.com. So this shouldn't be a problem if I can access all my stuff right? See things like Office and Skype use whatever detection method that is failing to determine if things can be sync'ed. The only answer I have is to reboot until the little yellow triangle goes away. There has to be a better way.

Nov 24, 2015I am having this issue with a Surface Pro 3 on a dock, that when it is plugged in to a certain port it doesn't recognize the internet connection. If I take the surface to a different port and plug it in it works, if I get a different surface and plug it in to the port I am working with it works. Its only when the surface I am working with is plugged into that specific port, that it doesn't work. I need this surface plugged into this port, I can't plug it in anywhere else.
I have tried updating drivers, changing the dock, and also plugging in a USB to Ethernet adapter to bypass the dock. Nothing has worked. I also can't just get a different Surface because I don't have another surface with Win 10 on it. I need to have this Surface connected to this port but it will not work.

Specifically my connection terminates frequently many times per day causing me to unplug my wireless receiver then plug it back in. My wifi unit is a Netgear N300 USB adapter model WNA3100. I updated the software from Netgear but it hasn't had any affect on the issue.

Aug 18, 2015 I was browsing the internet, my computer suddenly began to freeze up and run extremely slow. After roughly 5 minutes of that, I was met with a black screen and really no other choice than to hold down the power button and force a shut down on the computer. Upon the computer booting back up, I see a Windows 10 logo and a small circular loading graphic that's spinning as if its loading. This happens for a few minutes until an error message appears "Unmountable_Boot_volume" and the PC automatically restarts itself.
On the second reboot, I see the same Windows 10 logo but instead of a loading bar, its just text indicating the computer will now try to automatically repair itself. This is when the computer takes me to the "Choose your keyboard layout" screen on what I assume to be the repair interface. The problem is that my keyboard/mouse are not recognized or working at this stage, so I'm unable to select an option and progress. I've read that there are some possibilities at a fix or way to get the keyboard to function through the use of the BIOS menu, however any attempts to press "Esc" on my keyboard or any of the other functions such as "F10" for a boot menu results in an instant freeze of my PC.
I'm running Windows 10 on an HP Pavilion P6000 series. I've already done my own research as to what could be causing this and have tried a few things such as manually resetting the CMOS, reseating pieces of hardware, only plugging in essential cords (Keyboard, Monitor, and Power cable). and disconnecting the power to the Motherboard and reconnecting it.

Huge Drop Off In Boot And Shut Down Times
Jul 31, 2015I just installed Windows 10 and see a huge drop off in the boot time and shut down times. I have an i7 laptop with the OS partitioned on a SSD drive. Windows 8.1 would take 10-15 seconds to boot up.
This isnt the case here, right after the logo displays, I get a blank screen for a good minute. The laptop is fine after booting up, no lagging or heating issues so far.
I really don't want to clean install, just because the AMD drivers for my gfx card are difficult to properly install. Also reading people having this issue even after a clean install.
Performance :: External ESATA HDD Culprit For Long Boot Times
Oct 5, 2015I'm desperately trying to improve my boot times given I'm using SSD and when I used Win8.1 I used to have 8 seconds boot time.
This is a clean Win10 installation and all drivers are up to date. I'm using an external eSATA HDD for backups. It seems that Windows is searching or accessing this HDD quite extensively during boot, just before the lock screen.
By default the boot time is 43 seconds (either restart or cold boot when fastboot is on or off). When disconnecting the external HDD, the boot time is about 20 seconds.. which is far more acceptable.
I know there's a hidden partition of 128MB that windows created on that drive but I don't know why and I can't see this partition on Disk Management tool.
My question is, any guide on using a tool to see what's going on with the partitions of the external HDD and possibly delete this 128MB partition in hope to improve boot times.
