I ahve a desktop running windows 10. This last week I've been running into shutdowns that never stop. The blue screen that says "windows is shutting down" never goes away. In the end I'm forced to hold the power button to kill my pc (which I hate).
PC Specs:
Windows 10 Home
i5-3570K
8 GB RAM

I was using Windows 7 for about 2 years until I stumbled upon Windows 10 last month.I upgraded to it and used it happily for 2 weeks, give or take. Then the problems occur.
One day, after loading to BIOS,it booted to a black screen. No login screen,no cursor, nothing.I tried using the Windows troubleshooting utility and I've exhausted every option besides the wipe all your data option.
I tried booting with cmd, but it didn't do anything.Resetting PC with files intact also did nothing.Startup repair was the same case.System restore did not let me roll back due to some technicality.
In the meantime,I've tried installing Windows 10 on my other HDD,only to face the same issue after I rebooted. The Windows Media USB also did not work.
I'm really out of options here as I need to get some of my files out from my Caviar Black before I reformat it if I have to.
EDIT:For context,I sold my SSD and got a Caviar Blue 1tb.

I have a freshly upgraded laptop (8.1 > 10) which worked fine until now. When I try to shut down the PC, it just hangs at the blue shutting down screen and the circle keeps on spinning.
I have to hard power off the laptop by holding down the off button, but that isn't going to do the laptop any good.
What can I do to fix this? Is there anywhere that will tell me what happens when shutting down?

I recently upgraded to window 10 from window 7 with iso file. I didn't had internet access then, but my window run successfully. Later, when i tried to attach another display with Laptop it did not detect it. So, i installed the windows updates. But after installing i was unable to boot into windows. A black screen with blinking cursor appears right after the Dell Logo. I am only able to go into bios setup by pressing F2, no safe mode option. I tried making a bootable Pen drive for repair but even it wasn't detected. I already change the boot priority in bios menu. Therefore i am unable to fresh install the window as laptop cd drive is not functioning from quite some time.

I've been using Windows 10 for few weeks now and it's been really good.
8GB Ram
1 TB Hard Disc
Asus Motherboard
i5 processor
Used the PC as I would normally do and shut it down last night. Recently installed the latest update for Win 10 as I recall. Otherwise no new changes or installation to the system.
So now when I switched it on its showing Automatic Startup Repair and it diagnose the PC but fails every time and shows a blue screen of startup repair where I can:-
- reset PC (reinstall but this fails at 36%)
- system restore or image restore ( but can't use either)
- startup repair (doesn't work either)
- command prompt (tried sfc/scannow and they won't allow me to do so unless I restart but keeps getting same error.
Tried unplugging the hard disc etc but same old loop again.

I woke up this morning to a constant boot loop into blue screen that gives me a memory_management blue screen error and restarts then occasionally gives me a driver_corrupted_expool blue screen.
It tries to start up automatic system repair which fails and works very rarely. Once i am in the system repair screen i try the startup repair and it just doesn't do anything and redirects me back to the blue screen boot loop. I had restarted my PC this morning after it was working and then it just randomly started doing this boot loop.
I need fixing my issue with a bootable USB program i can use to fix the drivers or something. I need every other option other than reinstalling windows because i have tons of files i need on here.

Last night I was watching a dvd on my desktop when all of a sudden a blue screen came up with a frowning face and said that "Your computer ran into a problem and needs to restart, its collecting info and will restart." It happened quickly so I didn't see what the error was but now my PC is stuck in a loop where it restarts and loads into an empty blue screen. It stays on that blue screen for a minute or so and then restarts again. I tried going into my BIOS or starting in safe mode but my PC won't go into them.

I recently purchased an intel NUC6i5SYH kit PC and fitted it with the following RAM and HDD.
Samsung 500GB 850 EVO M.2 SSD: Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories
HyperX Impact 16 GB 2133 MHz DDR4 SODIMM Memory Kit (2 x 8 GB): Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories
I installed a copy of windows 8 that I owned and then upgraded it to windows 10. It was working fine for a couple of weeks, and suddenly it had and error and is stuck rebooting itself with a blue screen error.
The error appears to be different every time but the ones I have seen repeated are "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" and "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION".
I can get into the BIOS and that's about it. I can't find a way to boot into safe mode and when I try and install a fresh copy of windows 10 via USB created from microsoft i still get a blue screen error after a couple of seconds.

after upgrading my laptop to Windows 10 I am unable to access specific webpages. Some examples are Amazon.com, Chase.com, Cox.com. I've tried updating the network adapters, setting the DNS properties for ipv4 to manual DNS with 8.8.8.8 and alt DNS 8.8.8.4, I've tried using a windows repair to scan for issues with the registry, I've tried disabling admin approval, firewalls, and antivirus.
I'm at a loss as to why only a select few of websites I can't reach. I live with 4 roommates who each have laptops and are able to access all the mentioned websites no problem using chrome, IE, and Safari. We can all also use our smartphones to access these websites using the same wifi as my laptop with no issues.

I'm having some issues with my PC I have never had before. The computer is a personal rig I have personally worked on, but these last weeks some problems started appearing.
Problem 1) Had this problem for months, I think this problem also escalated to create
problem 2) I cannot "restart" my computer. Do I want to restart? I would have to shutdown and then start it up again.
When I press restart, it starts logging off, shutting down, and when my screen go blank (no signal, pc lights/fans = on) it just stays there for ever. Tried waiting once but after 4 hours I gave up.
When I start my computer I get my BIOS screen. After the BIOS timer, the boot screen gets taken over by Windows 10 with it's loading circle.
My computer stays loading here for about 8-10 minutes and then it continues booting like normal.
I am willing to follow many steps to find out this problem!! I suspect maybe unfinished installations or my other HDD interfering with the initial boot?
Also, could this problem be caused by a PSU failing? (My oldest pc component)
My windows is now on my main ssd (samsung evo 500gb) - I also have a ocz 250gb and western hdd 1tb which I had windows on previously (user files still on, no boot)...

So today after updating my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 everything was fine I managed to open the Windows 10 desktop and then it said that is has to update the Windows.I left it to update and when I returned I found a blue error screen saying "Windows encountered a problem and needs to restart".And now when I boot the PC it keeps on restarting and can't even reach login screen. The Windows is genuine it was preloaded on the laptop when I bought it and also I don't mind losing my data I just want to fix the laptop.I don't have a disc to use for repair and even don't know how to repair. system thread exception not handled athwbx.sys is the error and I can boot in Safe mode.

I did a clean install on the Nvidia Drivers (Optimus Technology is On) and restarted the Laptop, Then I installed the drivers and restarted again. After the second restart, the Laptop stopped getting to the login screen, it just keeps showing the loading circle from the mouse. And after lots of time it will stop spinning the circle and will just have the mouse cursor on screen. It stays like that forever.

My wife purchased a Dell 8700 XPS with i7 4790 processor,16GB ram. and Nvidia GeForce GTX 745 4GB and a 2 terabyte hard drive. She also purchased a Kingston HyperX 120 GB SSD. I used a popular software to migrated Windows 8.1 Home to the SSD from the HDD. This seemed to work well but on booting up the system the HDD boots unless I go into the bios and select the SSD in SATA 2 under the DVD reader/burner and select a {boot manager on Disk 1{ which was installed by migration software. I had hoped to format the HDD and use as data disk afterwards.
I noted that some threads mention I should have disconnected HDD when booting from SSD first time which I did not do.It also appears that the OEM partition is still on the HDD. I believe a clean install is required. Will this also remove the > boot manager on disk 1> line in the bios.

I was given an error message on reboot and followed a guide to editing the registry to restart the download. The download did not restart however, and my windows 10 is stuck in an endless loop of rebooting. I have downloaded a copy of windows 10 and put it onto a USB, but when I try to boot from USB it takes me back to the BIOS. The BIOS are 'Aptio Setup Utility 2011', and don't seem to allow me to change from UEFI boot to LEGACY boot, although the option is apparently there. Why the USB boot is not working correctly and how to make it do so, I am more than happy to reformat the computer but at this moment in time it's useless. The computer is an Alienware x51 from 2011. As previously mentioned the operating system the PC is trying to boot (or install) is windows 10.

So, this is a really weird problem I've only JUST started to encounter. I went to go overclock my CPU, as I've been playing FF14 a lot these past few months and figured an overclock would work out with the events taking massive chunks out of my framerate whenever I go near a populated area.
So, the Overclock failed, and I had to restart my computer and go back into the BIOS to reset everything to factory. This is where it gets weird. Now, whenever I boot up my PC it'll go into Windows but give me a 0xc0000225 Error. But, when I go into BIOS and go into the boot menu and boot my SSD from there, it works flawlessly. It's not a /massive' inconvenience I suppose, but it's still baffling.
I've got an Asus Z97-A Motherboard.

So this is not my personal computer, but this is my mom's computer. Its an HP Slimline Desktop computer, not sure about the exact model but it is running with an AMD Athlon X2 B24, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, AMD R5 240 and a Corsair Neutron 120GB SSD.
Everything was working fine when it was running a legitimate OEM copy of Windows 7 Home. However, after the Windows 10 upgrade process, it got stuck in "Welcome Back" Screen and she told me after she clicked "Next" the cursor started spinning, and it rebooted. Now after checking it, Windows wouldn't load to the desktop, it would just go on a bootloop and blue screens.
She didn't back anything up before the upgrade. I do not know what to do.

This might be a stupid question but I havent found a solution for it myself, probably looking in all the wrong places.. would like to be able to have my computer go to the lock screen after an alotted time of inactivity without turning off the screen itself as in the power settings. I usually have screen shutoff/sleep set for longer periods but would like the screen to lock sooner.

I noticed after I downloaded the most recent updates and I disabled the Windows background on the sign-in screen I now have a dull grey screen when shutting down or restarting? When it says restarting or shutting down or when I'm signing in the background is blue, but in between a weird grey screen shows up?

The "shutting down" message is continually on screen so I'm unable to do anything. Turning the power off and on just returns me to the same shutting down message.
