This is not a problem just a observation. I noticed something strange when I went to download Brink's reg file to bring back the Photo Viewer. Either Pale Moon or Windows 10 thinks it's a .TS video file.

I have already go to control panel> default program >windows photo viewer but here is no jpg and png file, I see only tiff, tiff file. so at this time how can i solve this problem.

We are having trouble opening this file for editing." I have not change my file types or anything else. Tried several different pictures and it just keep saying the same thing. The Start Screen in Windows 10 is a mess with the mix of a Windows 7 style Start Menu and the vertical scroll of the tiles.
Would there be any way to bring the Windows 8 Start Screen to Windows 10 as in the early builds?
I don't need any fancy additional features, just the Windows 8 Start Screen style and behaviour.
for some reason Cortana has dissapeared from my desktop computer I cannot find any way to bring it back, it is just no longer there.

I've written a letter on my email and included a few photos. I have W10 and I simply can't understand its photo app! Since I don't know how to transfer some of these photos in W10 ro my email so that the recipient can enlarge them and with one more click can see the next ones, I decided to copy them instead and then paste them on my email.
QUESTION: Do you think that doing this copy/paste will give the recipient what I just described above? I do have Photo Gallery but in this W10 I don't know how to use it.
Whenever I try to download anything with Edge it says "couldn't be downloaded". Every single time.
For example:
When I click on "Retry" it is always downloaded but replaces the "." before the file type with a "_".
This is what ends up in my "Downloads" folder.
So if I want to download anything I have to click on "Retry" and then go to my "Downloads" folder and rename "xxxx_zip" to "xxx.zip".
Is there a way around this? It is the "retry" that bugs me most - I understand the renaming so you don't run it by mistake - but both are a little annoying.
I'm attempting to download Win 10 64-bit Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website. On the Nvidia driver search page, after I've selected the search parameters and conducted the driver search, I come to an download button page. I click the download button and I arrive at an Agree & Download button page. When I click on the Agree & Download button, nothing happens. It's as if the Agree & Download button isn't active. Something is blocking the download.
I suspect there is a setting that is preventing the download. What are the recommended settings and where do you find them in order to set this browser to be able to download drivers?
sometimes when you are looking for stuff and you reach a site you are presented with a whole confusing array of download buttons, install applications or whatever really hiding the actual download you want - sites like DriverMax come to mind for example.Finally Google is going to try and tidy up this lot -- about time too.The confusing downloads can often lead to people installing all sorts of unwanted spyware, PUPS, viruses etc etc.
I consider myself as reasonably experienced - but sometimes I've found it incredibly hard to get the actual download I'm after having navigated through endless traps of arrows etc to spurious links.Note Torrentfreak is a perfectly 100% legitimate News site so no illegal software being offered. !!!!
I am having a problem whereby my default browser keeps changing from IE11 back to either Edge or blank. Why this might be happening or what program is causing it to change? I thought it maybe the Windows Auto Update that keep changing but am now not so sure of that since the last recorded update is back on 14th January and my default Browser got changed again last evening.
The only other programs that run regularly are Norton Internet Security and Norton Utilities. However, I have been through the settings of both of those programs and cannot detect anything that would indicate that they change the default Browser.
Also, in IE11 under the advanced tab I have ticked the option the "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser" and yet (a) I do not get a notification and (b) the default browser keeps getting changed.
Trying to rely on using Edge over IE.
Download a file and then I click on the section to 'open folder'.
The Downloads folder opens, but just stays at the bottom, it doesn't pop up.
The file I just downloaded is there somewhere, but it isn't highlighted like it used to be in IE.
Is it in the settings to fix this by any chance?
I'm looking for the setting that will bring up the "are you sure you want to delete this file" box instead of the default for Win 10 which deletes as soon as I hit the delete key.

View 9 RepliesI've already know this problem of mine is a rather common problem among Windows 10 users. When I wish to open a picture with our good old Windows Photo Viewer, simply nothing happens or even if something does happen, that's an error message that's it.
It's not like there is a problem with the new "Photos" app but it's quite slow compared to the old one and crashes more frequent than it should..
Since updating to windows 10 when I import pictures they go straight into the new photo viewer app but I cant figure out how to get them to my pictures. I am using turbo lister for ebay and I cant find a way to the imported pictures.

So I have two questions how do I get ride of this unwanted program that was made the default view, which means extra step to review an image.
Second how do I get back the white window for general information, like getting to the Control Panel?

I have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I have always printed from Windows Photo Viewer.
Now when I try to print, the paper stops feeding but if I use Photos there are no problems. I would prefer to continue using Windows Photo Viewer.
Is there a solution or am I stuck with Photos? I am using an Epson Workforce 320.
i installed windows 10 home on a new ssd from scratch, all is going great except the image viewer is making me a bit dizzy from the scrolling while viewing images.
i'm thinking there must be a way to disable that effect when changing pictures and just have them appear , or fade in, fade out ?
Or if you have alternative apps to suggest that does roughly the same thing, like full-screen, copy/move images or folders of images, yunno to manage the collection.
Okay so another Windows 10 weird issue! I am trying to make IrfanView my default photo viewer app. However, Windows will not let this be! When I try to choose a default, but this app is not even recognized. What I can do is actually click on a image file and have those open in each app by default (as well as make some changes in "Choose default apps by file type" --> although this doesn't work for everything), but why can't I just make the setting change under default apps?

Just to clarify I sign in with a Local account, do I have to sign in with a Microsoft account to use the apps?
After a recent update I can no longer use the photo viewer, the tile does not respond and nothing happens when I pop my SD card in. I used it with no problems on windows 8.1. I have tried various settings using auto play to no avail.
