When I pin Office 2016 to my taskbar, then click on it opens a new icon on the taskbar instead of using the one already there.
Also, not sure if this is related. But when I right click on this new icon and go to the "tasks" menu with the "New email message, new appointment, etc" links none of them work. Nothing happens when I click them.
Tried repairing and reinstalling 2016 with no luck.
I am running Outlook 2016 under Win 10. Under all previous versions of Outlook I have be enable to increase the time a new email alert stays on the screen by editing the registry like this.

I have set the value of that DWORD to 360000 in an attempt get the alert to stay on an hour. The alerts stay on only about 3 or 4 seconds.How can I make the alerts stay on longer?
I downloaded Windows 10 when it was released and have had no problems with it ... until I updated my Microsoft Office to 2016. Ever since then, if I have Office open I get the BSoD, with it saying either Unexpected_Store_Exception, or Critical_Process_Died. I have no other virus software, so it's not the incompatibility with Defender. I have run all of my maintenance software, rebooted my computer, etc. I'm at a loss for what else to do.

The file is called, "WindowsMSUIGHUB.tt2". know what this file is and if it's just some temporary file I'm safe to remove? I don't really want this file here as it looks ugly but I don't want to remove if it it's required for anything.

View 4 RepliesOn my Surface Pro 3 I am unable to pin Internet Explorer to the taskbar. I have tried all of the different ways to do it but I am only given the option of pinning it to the start menu. Also if I click on "send to" I do not get the option to pin to taskbar there either. I can do it on my Dell PC running Windows 10 but not on my Surface Pro 3. What am I missing here?

I tried right clicking on the file and shortcut but it only says Unpin from Start, and also tried dragging and dropping, but just shows a error symbol on my mouse and takes file back to its position on the desktop. It just randomly disappeared from my taskbar and was left on my desktop one day when I was logging in, and I can't get it back on the taskbar.

View 9 RepliesOne of my pinned items on the taskbar (MusicBee) refuses to act properly. It always shows two instances of the icon when the program is open.
I tried unpinning the items, opening the program from it's folder and then right-click > Pin to taskbar but that creates a duplicate icon as well.
I also checked C:UsersMYNAMEAppDataRoamingMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick LaunchUser PinnedTaskBar for duplicate shortcuts but there is only one.
When I right-click the Microsft Edge icon on either the Desktop or the Start Menu, I do not get the option to pin to the Taskbar, only the option to pin to Start Menu. Also, dragging the icon to the task bar gives an error symbol and does not work. However, other applications work just fine with the exception of Steam games.
View 9 RepliesI have always had shortcuts pinned to my Firefox icon in my taskbar like windows 10 forum,the login for my work place, you tube,ETC.but the short cuts are gone on my windows 32 they are still on my win.64 ..When I drag a short to my win.32 Firefox Icon in taskbar it says pen to Firefox but it don't pin to it. I miss having the shorts there is there any other way to pin them to my Firefox Icon in the taskbar.

View 1 RepliesSince upgrading to Windows 10 from 7, I have noticed icons duplicating in the system tray. I haven't been able to find a solution online, as everyone else is complaining about icons in the taskbar. The most commonly duplicated icons have been Vuze, Samsung Link, and Norton Antivirus.
know a solution or reason for these multiples of icons?

I upgraded to Windows 10 a little while ago, and while it has mostly been smooth sailing I have encountered a small glitch.
Middle-clicking on things in the taskbar normally opens a new instance on the corresponding application. This feature works perfectly for everything but Firefox.
I am not sure if it is a setting within Firefox or Windows that is blocking this behavior, or if it is a bug.
I have discovered two workarounds.
1) Open a new Firefox window using the shortcut in the Start Screen.
2) Drag a tab away to create a new window.

View 2 RepliesUsing Win10 x64 with IE11, and after the latest major update(TH2) immediately I noticed that whenever I save anything in "fav bar" it now saves and the icon appears from left-hand side. Earlier any saves I did the icons started from right-side/far end side of the fav. bar.
So, is there a way I can revert so tht new saved icons get saved on right-side of the bar?
Since upgrading, when I go to file explorer I have duplicates of everything, e.g., several desk tops, several My PCs, several libraries. It's hard to judge how many because inside each on are duplicate icons. So every folder I have appears multiple times. I counted at least 4 for each of my HD's (internal and external) all my USB drives (which shouldn't even show up unless they are in use), etc.
I've included a screen shot but it's a little confusing since there are so many duplications, I couldn't show them in one shot. If you look you will that the first image goes down to Library > Network. The remaining icons are on the second page (though the second page also includes stuff from the first). Just start with Network on the second page.
I use Google Chrome as my search engine.
I downloaded the program and have been using it since I got this computer about 5 weeks ago.
I had a shortcut on my desktop and one on my taskbar at the bottom.
I also had an app in my charm bar in the windows window in the bottom left or whatever the popup is being called now...
A couple of days ago the Chrome shortcut went from the familiar Google colors to a white, blank sheet of paper in the taskbar. I tried to reload it but I keep getting a message about an error code.
I can still search with google using the blank piece of paper looking icon in the taskbar and I get google when I cut on the computer. But I want the shortcut and the familiar looking google colors back.
I was going to delete the program and reload it but I don't want to lose all the bookmarks I have already loaded.
at the bottom on the taskbar i saw 2 faint chrome pages that i had visited earlier and closed a long time ago. they were not functional to open and they could not be closed either. they were next to the bright active chrome icon that will open a new window.
what is the problem that faint, closed windows of chrome would be showing, and not be clickable or closeable? the problem seems new, because i don't think i saw this yesterday.
how to fix, i decided to 'reset' 10 and they disappeared.
If I pin iTunes shortcut to task bar and then launch iTunes, it shows two iTunes icons in task bar. How do I go about fixing this?
View 2 RepliesI'd like to have the Microsoft Edge Icon on the taskbar again as the only way to access it at the moment is using the search field at the far left of the taskbar running along the bottom of the screen and for some reason this doesn't respect the settings I have. In particular, it searches using Bing rather than Google (in the settings I have specified that it should use Google).
How to create an icon for Edge on the taskbar?
