Browser/Email :: Firefox - Easy Way To Access Favorites
Dec 30, 2015
On the Tor Browser ( a variant of firefox it's really easy to access BOOKMARKS (favourites).
On Firefox it's another step to get the bookmarks or is there something in configuration that I can use -- the bookmarks icon doesn't appear in the standard Firefox release (Windows).
I'd like to try Edge, but Edge won't even see Firefox as one of my installed browsers even though it is my default browser. I'm not going to use a browser that requires me to enter hundreds of sites one at a time. Any way to import FF favorites since it won't import html?
I have lost all my Favorites in Edge. I have recovered a copy of the desired Favorites and have placed these favorites on my desktop as a file folder. The file structure has all the folders, and within each folder, the links to all the favorite websites. I have tried placing the contents of this file into the following location:
I understand that this is the default location for Edge Favorites. With the desired "Favorites" folder placed and verified in the above location and I open Edge and click on Favorites and all I see under Favorites are two folders "Favorites Bar" and "BookmarksBar" (as expected both currently empty). I had hoped to see also an expandable "Favorites" folder with all the subfolders. How to use the previous referenced Desktop file folder or its content to restore my Favorites in Edge.
Any easy way to access msconfig in windows 10? I got the download. It wants to disable some apps at start up but I haven't a clue as to how without msconfig.
Edge is a great browser! However one thing I really miss from IE is having my favorites sidebar always visible at all times. With Edge you have to select it EACH TIME and pin it to the window display. This becomes a real pain and seems unnecessary. Is it possible to configure the favorite's sidebar to be always on by default? A real extra would be to have it on the left hand side again like IE which seemed to have this facility/capability just right. The horizontal favorites across the top is useless because so few are visible. (No luck with other forums) else I'm going back to IE.
WINDOWS 10 PRO: Pursuant to the tutorial in Ten Forums, the FAVORITES folder in the EDGE browser is stored in the DataStore folder. Is that correct? Is the tutorial correct? My check of the folder indicates the tutorial was correct.
Had many many compatibility problems with windows 10. HP have been brilliant. I have to use firefox now because 10 doesn't like chrome. It doesn't like avg either.
anyway, I recently had a hip replacement and have other medical issues. I desperately need to send a document that i scanned on my phone to the google drive on my new laptop.
I have the same issue with sending myself an email of my personal spreadsheets.
simply put I have gone from vista to 10, I am trying to teach myself. I use firefox now with settings to gmail. I have downloaded adobe file reader, but no matter what i do i cannot email anything using my gmail email. I do not want to use outlook
Using FF in this forum, Right click on a dropdown item (like Forum Actions, Quick Links) does not have an option to open in new tab, like Chrome for example. But, you can drag/drop the dropdown choice to the New Tab "+" on the open tabs bar, and it will open. Maybe this is old news, just wanted to pass it on..
So I decided to give Edge another try, and seeing that I am still unable to directly import my favorites from Firefox I went around it by exporting them to a HTML file, importing them into IE and then into Edge.
Well only half of them ended up appearing in edge and I now have a ton of empty folders...so I would like to delete them all and start again but I cant find a way to completely remove them all.
After the "November update" to Windows 10, the Edge browser no longer uses a folder structure to store favorites. Instead, it now uses an Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) database. So, that means you can no longer just do a copy-n-paste in an attempt to export your favorites. I've created a demonstration project that reads from this ESE database and produces an HTML-based "bookmark.htm" file that can be used to import into other browsers (like IE, Chrome, etc.)take a look at this article for the technical details: URL....or if you're not squeamish about loading an EXE file from a hobbyist like me, you can download the executable install file from: URL...
IE allowed me to easily pin my favorites - which I used EVERY TIME I opened the browser - on the left side of the screen. This was incredibly easy and intuitive from the get go! NOW I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THAT IN EDGE!
Do they even bother to survey end-users anymore, before they go messing around with a perfectly good browser?
How do I manage my favorites in the new Edge browser? I accidently moved a favorites folder into another favorites folder & I don't know how to get the folder out of the other folder?
I've been asked this a few times already and have always replied "It can't be done"
Anyhow, seeing how I didn't follow the instructions in my signature and have found myself corrupting my Windows system while heavily overclocking and stress testing the CPU on a custom water-loop, I have found myself wanting to export them to IE11 so that my MS account stores them for easy retrieval. (I have also just copied the folder to my backup drive too!)
So I wanted to work out how and this is my solution:
In File Explorer, navigate to your Edge Favorites:
Copy the links (aka favorites) to the folder [URL] favorites will now be in IE11 (If IE11 is currently open, you will have to close and re-open for the favorites to appear). If you want them to be imported to Chrome, Firefox or wherever, you can now import in the normal way.
I didn't like the Firefox Search Bar. I rarely used it. It takes up valuable real estate that can be used by other ADD-ONS Icons. I Just do my searches directly in Bing or Google.
To remove the Firefox Search Bar (this actually just moves it and stores it away, you can bring it back),
-Click on the upper right menu icon (three lines). -Click CUSTOMIZE -Left Click, Hold and Drag the Firefox Search Bar down to the Additional Tools and Features area. It will be saved there in case you want to bring it back. -Click EXIT CUSTOMIZE.
The Firefox Search Bar is now gone and the space can be used to add additional ADD-ONS Icons.
Don't have this issue with Chrome or IE. When using FF (latest), any reply to a post on any thread here does NOT clear after posting the reply. I clear cache, history, cookies, everything and still "remembers" last reply entry.
I install yesterday xmark for IE and I merge bookmarks from both browsers : firefox-explorer. Can I restore original bookmarks of explorer? Also I work to a second pc with win 10. Some how appears and in IE 11 some bookmarks that I try to delete but after restart appears again. I try to delete with right click or delete the folder of favourite in my pc but every time reappears.
I've read several threads here about the homepage resetting to Bing and I've tried all the recommendations. My homepage continues to reset to Bing.
I've scanned for virus' & malware w/ Malwarebytes & Defender. Also used McAfee Stinger. No problems found. Is there a setting inside Windows 10 that prohibits the homepage from being changed?
How only the top half of names in the toolbar shows up. Mozilla forum referred me to you thinking it may be operating system because it occurs on many of the websites I visit, not just Firefoxes toolbar. Please see attached examples.
I have always had shortcuts pinned to my Firefox icon in my taskbar like windows 10 forum, the login for my work place, you tube,ETC.but the short cuts are gone on my windows 32 they are still on my win.64 ..When I drag a short to my win.32 Firefox Icon in taskbar it says pen to Firefox but it don't pin to it. I miss having the shorts there is there any other way to pin them to my Firefox Icon in the taskbar.
I cannot get the My yahoo site to load on either IE or Firefox. It's supposed to be my home page and has all my bookmarks on it. I can get to Yahoo mail and sports, but the home page can't be displayed. Firefox said it was on another server and the path couldn't be completed.
I followed the steps I found, but it didn't work. From old W8 laptop onto a usb, then onto new W10 laptop. It says finished, and "you have successfully.........". But then I check and they are not there.
