Dec 17, 2015I managed to see my friends Windows 10, Home edition, manage to get another problem now.
I did try to change the default browser i.e. change Windows Edge to Internet explorer.
However when I clicked on change browser, internet explorer was chosen, nothing seem to have changed, all I seen was edge browser.
There was no IE11 in the open All Apps.
When I went to Microsoft webpage to download internet explorer 11 a message said I have the latest Internet explorer installed.... still cant get internet explorer to become default web browser.

Feb 10, 2016I successfully installed 14257; however, I have nothing but problems with it. I cannot get Internet explorer to work. It freezes up, cannot use the back or forward arrow, cannot change addresses, and at one time I received an error message saying something about a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error message. I looked in my installed application files, Visual C++ is there, I ran a 'repair' on it, and the repair reported it installed without problems. I also cannot open most of the windows applications (Edge, Feedback, etc) then I cannot open any applications as the 'window' button freezes up. I have been able to run sfc /scannow, which reports no issues found and all system files are intact. I am destined to scrap the insider preview on this computer. It works on my laptop but the laptop is too slow and cumbersome to use. while Internet explorer will not work, it does open and I can view web pages but only those that are already on MSN (my home page). I cannot resize IE, nor can I move it anywhere else on the desktop.
Update: I went to Microsoft, downloaded Visual Studio C++ for Windows 10 that didn't get installed. The install seems to have corrected my problems. I can now open IE, EDGE, Feedback, and my start button works again.

Oct 13, 2015I have 1 desktop and 2 All In Ones which I am trying to configure to W10. I just changed the desktop to IE using the switch under the three dots where it says open with IE. I tried to do the same with this AIO and that switch doesn't work. I attempted to reset the default from Edge to IE but I can't find a IE default.

Sep 27, 2015This seems to be happening to quite a few people on Windows 10 it seems. It has started happening to me too lately. It happens when, say, I have one tab open to the forums, and I open another to get an image from Bing Images to make a point, or just for fun(those who know me, know what I mean, when I use GIF's), I download the image fine, then either switch tabs back or close the Images tab, then BAM: "IE has stopped working collecting information".
So I looked at the crash logs in Reliability History, and found out that it's iertutil.dll that seems to be the culprit:
Normally that could mean either the .dll is corrupted and needs to be replaced, OR, somehow got moved to the wrong place(accidentally drag & dropped while "surfing" File Explorer, happens to me sometimes), and needs to be moved back.
So I tried going into File Explorer and and searching the Windows folder. After about 8 minutes it was still searching (Hello! I have a Samsung 850 Pro I expect a little more speed !!!) . So I opened up UltraSearch, pasted "iertutil.dll" in and immediately got this:
as you can see, the path(s) are correct, but I see there are a few WinSxS files also. There could be a possible corruption there, is what I'm hoping.
What I'm going to try, is, cleaning out the Side by Side folder so well as I can using Disk Cleanup and the Extreme version of SFC-DISM:

Feb 10, 2016I install yesterday xmark for IE and I merge bookmarks from both browsers : firefox-explorer. Can I restore original bookmarks of explorer? Also I work to a second pc with win 10. Some how appears and in IE 11 some bookmarks that I try to delete but after restart appears again. I try to delete with right click or delete the folder of favourite in my pc but every time reappears.

Nov 29, 2015Can't lauch Outlook 2010 from Internet explorer! on Windows 10 Home. Gives me this error message.
I also can't install my printer. Keep getting error message saying printer driver is in use. It asks me to stop the driver so I do and then I get error message saying I need to start it! Feb 10, 2016Finally managed to import my thousands of saved emails (had to buy a program to do it) but cannot get them to be sub-folders of the inbox, only down at the bottom as "Outlook data file". Cannot import contacts. I export to csv but they import blank, now I have about 100 blank contacts that this POS won't let me delete.I have 3 accounts, comcast, gmail, and outlook.com. All are IMAP accounts.
When I started this process hours ago, I was hoping the following could be done:
-Have one combined inbox
-Have all my saved local folders as a sub of that inbox
-Have a complete address book that I'm able to use and edit

I get my wifes chrome favorites from her google account, and not my own?
This happens even if only I am logged in.

Jan 2, 2016Before I wiped my Windows 7 install, I exported my IE11 favorites into an HTM file, "bookmark", by using IE11's "export" feature.
My clean Windows 10 install only has 2 browsers: Edge and Chrome. I do not want to install IE11.
How do I get the saved favorites/bookmarks to be imported into Edge? There is no browse function. Edge only allows an automatic import, and that seems to require a functioning IE11 install.
