Browser/Email :: How To Restore Backed Up Emails To New Computer
Nov 24, 2015
My old computer crashed last week and I think I saw it coming, one of the very last things that I did was to back up all the emails and contact addresses from Windows. I cannot find how to restore them on to the new computer, in fact there are very few buttons in the new outlook or whatever it is called.
changing email from paid for AT&T to Gmail - how do I export from AT&T or import into Gmail? Have an 8 year history of photos and medical info, not backed up anywhere in the AT&T email.
My lovely new Asus Zenbook UX305 came with Windows 10 preloaded. I have successfully set up two email accounts through Mail for W10 and they're working fine , but there doesn't seem to be a junk folder. I'm expecting an email which has been resent three times and has probably been sent to junk box...but where is the junk folder ?
Since updating to Windows 10 my Office 365 Outlook will not send emails - error unable to connect to network - yet it receives them OK and if I go to account settings and use 'Test' it sends and receives OK this is true of all my accounts, Hotmail, gmail and two domain accounts. All can be set up and work from the new Mail App. Have run online repair of Office 365 and rebooted to no avail,
I would like to disable all Windows 10 system sounds except for the sound for incoming emails in Mail. I tried to do this but failed. I went to Settings - Personalization - Themes - Advanced sound settings, changed the Sound Theme to No Sounds and then changed New Mail Notification from Non to a sound. Clicked Apply and OK. However, there is no sound for incoming mails in Mail.
Using Outlook 2016, Windows 10. In the last few days, I've started getting multiple copies of the same email. Not all emails, but most. Some, just two or three. Others, up to a dozen of the same email. I've got four accounts at two different servers (RoadRunner and GoDaddy) ... and it's happening to all four, which is why I think it's an Outlook problem.
Additional clue: Some of the emails I'm getting multiple copies of are from last month ... stuff that had been deleted many days ago.
First instinct is to look at my settings (both POP accounts), to see if things are set up correctly. But that makes no sense - up until two or three days ago, everything was working exactly the way it should. I haven't made any system changes, haven't installed new software ... can't think of anything that would've made this just start happening.
Upgraded both our Desktop & Laptop to Windows 10 in the past few months. Last week I tried to access some Outlook emails that were more than two years old, the attachments & emoticons do not appear. This is on both PC's & the same result using Edge, IE or Chrome.
I installed Windows Live Mail & now I can see all the attachments & emoticons. Forwarded some of the emails from Live Mail to myself & now in Outlook the attachments/emoticons all appear as well (all three browser Edge, IE & Chrome). So say for instance I have a 2 & 1/2 year old email in a Outlook folder that will not display attachments/emoticons but the very same email just forwarded from Live Mail to my Outlook inbox now displays all attachments & emoticons
Tried inspecting elements. See msgs regarding HTML, Java Script in Edge? Don't have either Java or Silverlight installed, guess the newer browsers are moving towards HTML.
I want to do a clean install of Win 10 on my Wife's pc as there is a big "unsolved" problem with BSOD's following the upgrade from Win 8.1. However she uses Outlook.com for email and there is not an easy way to save the emails. If I do a clean install, will all her emails still be available?
I am using Windows Live Mail on Windows 10 . When I receive an email to one address ,it appears in both !! How to get an email to one address only goes to that address and not both
I upgraded to windows 10 and downloaded windows live mail, it works, but when I download new emails it deletes all old and unread emails.
Yesterday I turned on sync as suggested, then I downloaded 10 new emails, I opened 5 and left 5 unopened. This morning I downloaded my emails, as before all previous emails downloaded yesterday disappeared.
I've upgraded my wife's laptop to W10. (She hated/despised W8, W8.1, until I installed the Start8 shell.) Whereas W10 is a great improvement, the bundled email software is not.
W10's mail program does not allow new folders to be created (you can add pre-existing ones, but you cannot make your own); it does not allow you to look at all unread emails (you've got to go into each account); the upgrade process wiped out all her contacts (I'm hoping they still exist somewhere on her hard-drive).
I'd like to have the Microsoft Edge Icon on the taskbar again as the only way to access it at the moment is using the search field at the far left of the taskbar running along the bottom of the screen and for some reason this doesn't respect the settings I have. In particular, it searches using Bing rather than Google (in the settings I have specified that it should use Google).
Whenever I open a link in email I get asked which browser I want to use. I have selected Explorer as my default browser and I keep checking the box that says "always use this app" It is very frustrating. How do I make Windows 10 understand that I always want to use IE.
I used my Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS to create data file back-ups to an external hard drive. I bought and used the Win 10 Home 64 bit disk to install Win 10. I have copied the " Backup Set" to my C drive, but I can not open any files. Vista was "Backup & Restore"..... Is Restore different from copying?
I just re-installed Windows 10. I'd prefer NOT to do that any more than necessary, which includes after a Windows upgrade causes a problem.
SO, I'm trying to set up Windows 10 to make a system image (periodically). It WORKS fine, but instead of just taking the system disk, it's ALSO backing up one of my other disks. I BELIEVE it's because the other disk has a page file on it.
I'm putting the main pagefile on the NON-SYSTEM disk because my system is on an SSD and it's recommended (from what I've read) to minimize keeping things on there that get beat on regularly... BUT, as I understand it, any disk that has a pagefile on it is going to be included in the system image. This is a problem 'cause the non-system disk it's backing up has a couple TERABYTES of images on it along with the pagefile.
SO, can I tell Windows 10 Image backup NOT to mess with the other disk? OR, do I put a little partition on the other disk just to hold the pagefile? OR, do I just say, "screw it" and put the whole pagefile on the system SSD? OR, do I find a 3rd party tool to make a system image?
I have 2 Alienware M18X laptops. Both have been reset to factory settings and windows 10 installed via a usb. They are exactly the same computers. One works perfectly but the other freezes or black screens not long after the desktop appears. My question is can i back-up the one that is working and restore it on the 2nd one? Hardware is both the same and diagnostics show there is no fault.
So I was doing a system restore on my newly upgraded Windows 10. It was stuck at 46% so I restarted it (which was a stupid thing I know). After that the laptop won't go beyond the black screen. Whenever I boot the laptop the lenovo logo appears and the black screen after and that's it. I'm really worried now.
I had 8.1 and now 10, but the issue is with a restore point i did, a program i was using for work was acting up after windows did an auto update.
Did a restore point and now things are not opening right, applications that use to open just hang...i want to reinstall windows 8.1 BUT i dont want to reinstall Photoshop and other essential programs.
I want to restore and keep files BUT if there is an issue with doing that then ill reinstall from scratch.
I created a Windows 10 restore flash drive on my computer, which was updated to Windows 10. If I use this flash drive to reinstall Windows, will it restore Windows 10, or will it restore the system from the restore partition on my present hard drive?
