View 1 RepliesI've been using Windows 10 for about 2 months now and do like the feel of it.Now, I have a problem with the Edge browser not saving a website I try to favorite in a new folder under Favorites. When favoriting a website to Favorites or Favorite Toolbar, is saves the website as the star becomes yellow. But, if I make a new folder under Favorites and try to save to it, no luck. The star does not change to yellow nor does it favorite it under the new folder created.
Additionally, when I try to remove the folder created under Favorites, right clicking gives me the "remove" option but when I select it, nothing happens.
I have lost all my Favorites in Edge. I have recovered a copy of the desired Favorites and have placed these favorites on my desktop as a file folder. The file structure has all the folders, and within each folder, the links to all the favorite websites. I have tried placing the contents of this file into the following location:
C:UsersAdminAppDataLocalPackagesMicrosoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbweACMicrosoftEdgeUserDe fault
I understand that this is the default location for Edge Favorites. With the desired "Favorites" folder placed and verified in the above location and I open Edge and click on Favorites and all I see under Favorites are two folders "Favorites Bar" and "BookmarksBar" (as expected both currently empty). I had hoped to see also an expandable "Favorites" folder with all the subfolders. How to use the previous referenced Desktop file folder or its content to restore my Favorites in Edge.
WINDOWS 10 PRO: Pursuant to the tutorial in Ten Forums, the FAVORITES folder in the EDGE browser is stored in the DataStore folder. Is that correct? Is the tutorial correct? My check of the folder indicates the tutorial was correct.
View 6 RepliesSince installing the November Windows 10 update (11/17/15) none of my favorites are being stored in the default Edge folder. While in Edge the favorites are available but when I go to the default folder they are not listed. Is there another location they may be being saved or has my default location somehow been changed? My AppData folder shows a creation date of 11/17/15 with no modifications being made in favorites since that date.

View 9 RepliesIs it possible to pin web site to start menu?
View 9 RepliesI have 7 "Favorites" listed in Chrome. Is there a way to transfer just these 7 to Internet Explorer? These two are installed on a Dell tablet running Windows 10. I thought it would be easier than going back and forth typing the websites. (Not using Edge).
View 3 RepliesI think after one of the accumulative updates Windows Explorer started to open MSN in my default browser. This is very annoying.
I've tested my theory by restarting Windows Explorer from the task manager. Of course restarting the computer. Disable Automatic startup of Microsoft OneDrive. I scanned my System with Malwarebytes, nothing was found.
sometimes when you are looking for stuff and you reach a site you are presented with a whole confusing array of download buttons, install applications or whatever really hiding the actual download you want - sites like DriverMax come to mind for example. Finally Google is going to try and tidy up this lot -- about time too.The confusing downloads can often lead to people installing all sorts of unwanted spyware, PUPS, viruses etc etc.
I consider myself as reasonably experienced - but sometimes I've found it incredibly hard to get the actual download I'm after having navigated through endless traps of arrows etc to spurious links.Note Torrentfreak is a perfectly 100% legitimate News site so no illegal software being offered. !!!!
Install Firefox Ver 44.0. Add-on and Firefox website display text only.
View 1 RepliesEdge is a great browser! However one thing I really miss from IE is having my favorites sidebar always visible at all times. With Edge you have to select it EACH TIME and pin it to the window display. This becomes a real pain and seems unnecessary. Is it possible to configure the favorite's sidebar to be always on by default? A real extra would be to have it on the left hand side again like IE which seemed to have this facility/capability just right. The horizontal favorites across the top is useless because so few are visible. (No luck with other forums) else I'm going back to IE.
View 7 RepliesWhen using any version of IE Explorer, when viewing a webpage and want to create a desktop shortcut to that webpage I would simply right click just about anywhere on the webpage and select Create Desktop Shortcut from the drop-down Menu and Presto a new icon shortcut would appear on the desktop.
However, when using MS- Edge, when I Right Click on any webpage all I get is a small drop down-down menu with no selection to create a Desktop Shortcut. I have tried every which way to create a Desktop Shortcut of something I am viewing when using Edge to no avail.
My Windows 10 laptop does not save accounts and passwords for sites that I want to do so with. Now, my Windows 10 Desktop PC functions as it is supposed to with no problem, but not my laptop. I have it enabled to do so, but it does not. It asks to save them, but if I log out and log back in, I find that I have to input everything manually.
View 1 RepliesSo I decided to give Edge another try, and seeing that I am still unable to directly import my favorites from Firefox I went around it by exporting them to a HTML file, importing them into IE and then into Edge.
Well only half of them ended up appearing in edge and I now have a ton of empty folders...so I would like to delete them all and start again but I cant find a way to completely remove them all.
After the "November update" to Windows 10, the Edge browser no longer uses a folder structure to store favorites. Instead, it now uses an Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) database. So, that means you can no longer just do a copy-n-paste in an attempt to export your favorites. I've created a demonstration project that reads from this ESE database and produces an HTML-based "bookmark.htm" file that can be used to import into other browsers (like IE, Chrome, etc.)take a look at this article for the technical details: URL....or if you're not squeamish about loading an EXE file from a hobbyist like me, you can download the executable install file from: URL...
View 5 RepliesIE allowed me to easily pin my favorites - which I used EVERY TIME I opened the browser - on the left side of the screen. This was incredibly easy and intuitive from the get go! NOW I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THAT IN EDGE!
Do they even bother to survey end-users anymore, before they go messing around with a perfectly good browser?
How do I manage my favorites in the new Edge browser? I accidently moved a favorites folder into another favorites folder & I don't know how to get the folder out of the other folder?
View 9 RepliesI've been asked this a few times already and have always replied "It can't be done"
Anyhow, seeing how I didn't follow the instructions in my signature and have found myself corrupting my Windows system while heavily overclocking and stress testing the CPU on a custom water-loop, I have found myself wanting to export them to IE11 so that my MS account stores them for easy retrieval. (I have also just copied the folder to my backup drive too!)
So I wanted to work out how and this is my solution:
In File Explorer, navigate to your Edge Favorites:
Code:
C:Users[USERNAME]AppDataLocalPackagesMicrosoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbweACMicrosoftEdgeUserDefaultFavoritesLinks
Copy the links (aka favorites) to the folder [URL] favorites will now be in IE11 (If IE11 is currently open, you will have to close and re-open for the favorites to appear). If you want them to be imported to Chrome, Firefox or wherever, you can now import in the normal way.
I was just wondering if it is possible to keep website as the home page but change the search engine to google? I current have the default homepage where all the news and everything are there as soon as I open edge. but I HATE bing as my search engine and would like to change it to Google search engine but keep the same home page is there anyway to do this?
View 1 RepliesIs there, anyway, to, possibly save web mail from Outlook.com to my computer??
I see no options anywhere to Save As in Outlook.com
I followed the steps I found, but it didn't work. From old W8 laptop onto a usb, then onto new W10 laptop. It says finished, and "you have successfully.........". But then I check and they are not there.
View 4 RepliesI have all my Favorites from IE 11 and Chrome in the Favorites bar in Microsoft Edge, but it shows the icons and titles with them, how do I get only the icons to show ?, would save a lot of space in the Favorites bar.
View 7 RepliesI am likely missing something here, but I can not seem to figure out how I can sort my favorites in Edge alphabetically?
When a favorite is added it is added to the bottom of the list, and so on. I would like to sort them alphabetically if possible.
When I set up Win 10 a few days ago, I imported my IE settings into Edge. All my favorites are there, and the ones I had pinned to my favorites bar are there. But I can not seem to figure out, how to add a favorite to the favorites bar in Edge?
