Web player (iplayer, demand on 5, etc...) will not stay in full-screen mode in any browser on Windows 10.
How to rectify problem.
I upgraded my computer to Windows 10, however I cannot play Flash content in Edge browser. It is enabled in the advanced settings in Edge and it is still not working, saying I have to update my Flash plugin, however it is supposed to be bundled with Edge.
I do not have a problem with Flash content in Chrome or IE11 browsers, but would like to be able to use Edge as well.
Now, I also encounter the following error message from Windows Update:
"Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3087040) - Error 0x800f0922"
which I guess is related to the issue of missing Flash Player in my Windows.
After I upgraded to latest windows 10 build (1151) ,I seem to have a problem of Chrome opening the first several requested web pages after computer comes out of "sleep" mode. I get the page that says cannot connect . After I hit retry it finds it . Sometimes the web pages don't load properly ie no pictures , just a listing or the picture color is not right. After a reload it works fine. After the first few pages of problems everything works fine again. It's like Windows or Chrome is having some delays accessing the requested pages when starting from a sleep mode.
View 9 RepliesWhen I click the icon in task bar, EDGE search window will only stay open for about 5 seconds. Why?
View 4 RepliesI am running Outlook 2016 under Win 10. Under all previous versions of Outlook I have be enable to increase the time a new email alert stays on the screen by editing the registry like this.
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice16.0CommonDesktopAlerts
DWORD: TimeOn
I have set the value of that DWORD to 360000 in an attempt get the alert to stay on an hour. The alerts stay on only about 3 or 4 seconds. How can I make the alerts stay on longer?
At work I extensively use a Flash-based control panel provided by one of my company's business partners. I typically run Firefox to display it.
I've recently switched to 4K monitor and the panel has become unreadable as the font size is constantly the same as in my previous (1920x1080 resolution), meaning way too small to be easily read in 4K resolution unless using a magnifying glass...
I'm aware of the fact Flash objects are virtually impossible to customize, but noticed a surprising thing when run the panel in Internet Explorer (v. 11.11.10586) - it actually gets resized together with a page and this applies to panel font too! At the same the panel displayed in Firefox is completely immune to any size changes, just other elements (non-Flash) of the page can be increased/decreased.
Why does edge say adobe flash player is disabled when it says it is installed . Used the troubleshooting guide to no avail.
View 1 RepliesBut I installed windows 10 build 10240 and my browser cant watch most videos on youtube cuz restricted mode always on. when I click off and save, it will refresh page and this mode still on.
I try with edge, chrome ( firefox has problem with certificate. cant visit too much site)
try to delete cookies, reset win10, upgrade from 8,1, clean install. and I cant disable this mode.
I tried to use vlc or kmplayer too and it still fail
At least for me anyway mail app now shows live messages on the tile and under options one can turn off conversation mode.
View 6 RepliesWhen I moved to WIndows 10 both Edge and IE works fine. But recently, Edge started to falling apart. It crashes with a message and the display is too short that I don't even have enough time reading it before Edge close itself. Since I still have IE so just don't bother to fix it. But then, IE started to slow down and loading a page might take few minutes while Firefox responds immediately. Also, I couldn't download anything from web.
Clicking any download related button (even showing a pdf file) did not have any response at all. I suspect it may be due to some add-on, so I disable almost all add-on except the MS search ones. But still IE is slow in loading pages. I searched the web and found some about enhanced security mode in IE. I switched it on and also another option called something 64-bit processes for enhanced security mode. But after restart IE, it closes itself without a single message, just like Edge. I am not able to change the setting back. So what can I do to get back the IE and Edge?
Is there a way to disable this? Recording history in an "InPrivate" window seems like a contradiction in terms, no?
View 2 RepliesSince the update reboot Outlook is running in safe mode and though the reading panel is correctly set up it is closed every time Outlook is restarted. Add ones are all missing. How to sort it short of removing all the updates. I have run a repair install and SFC /SCANNOW with no problems or change.
View 7 RepliesWhenever I open a link in email I get asked which browser I want to use. I have selected Explorer as my default browser and I keep checking the box that says "always use this app" It is very frustrating. How do I make Windows 10 understand that I always want to use IE.
View 3 RepliesI am having a problem whereby my default browser keeps changing from IE11 back to either Edge or blank. Why this might be happening or what program is causing it to change? I thought it maybe the Windows Auto Update that keep changing but am now not so sure of that since the last recorded update is back on 14th January and my default Browser got changed again last evening.
The only other programs that run regularly are Norton Internet Security and Norton Utilities. However, I have been through the settings of both of those programs and cannot detect anything that would indicate that they change the default Browser.
Also, in IE11 under the advanced tab I have ticked the option the "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser" and yet (a) I do not get a notification and (b) the default browser keeps getting changed.
So we have these tools that need elevated rights within IE to install correctly. In windows 7 we always did the right click, run as admin thing. However, now after the upgrade and Edge there seems to be no availability to run it as admin. Tried all the icons & right click that I can find for Edge but not getting the option anywhere.Tried also with the Edge app from /Windows/Systemapps and it didnt give the option either. Of course if I go back to IE it allows me..
View 9 RepliesEdge is a great browser! However one thing I really miss from IE is having my favorites sidebar always visible at all times. With Edge you have to select it EACH TIME and pin it to the window display. This becomes a real pain and seems unnecessary. Is it possible to configure the favorite's sidebar to be always on by default? A real extra would be to have it on the left hand side again like IE which seemed to have this facility/capability just right. The horizontal favorites across the top is useless because so few are visible. (No luck with other forums) else I'm going back to IE.
View 7 RepliesWINDOWS 10 PRO: Pursuant to the tutorial in Ten Forums, the FAVORITES folder in the EDGE browser is stored in the DataStore folder. Is that correct? Is the tutorial correct? My check of the folder indicates the tutorial was correct.
View 6 RepliesWhen I first got Win 10, the Edge browser worked great but after a time it simply quit working. The opening screen with the icon comes up but then it goes back to my desktop. I can still use Explorer but Edge had some features I liked and I would like to go back to it before too long. I have seen some comments here about proxy servers and the like but I am not brave enough to tinker with that.
View 7 RepliesThe browser icons that used to sit on the bottom of my screen have disappeared. How do I get these icons back?
View 1 RepliesI mistakenly chose IE as the browser for my emails to open in when I imported my mails from outlook and I wish to change this to MS Edge. How to I go about this? I've checked in the settings, but it doesn't seem to have what I'm looking for. MY IE doesn't function as well as Edge and I'd like to correct this.
View 2 RepliesCan't make Chrome default browser, only msEdge .
When in Chrome and I click make chrome default , nothing happens . And Edge won't let go .
This problem has frustrated me to no end. For some reason, flash videos on websites like Gamespot, IGN and Gametrailers will not work with the Edge browser. All I get is a black screen with sound, or most of the time without any sound at all.
Here are some of the things I've tried already:
1) Updating video card drivers. I'm running the latest NVidia drivers, version 361.75
2) Used sfc /scannow and DISM commands. sfc /scannow finds the driver opencl.dll as corrupt, but that's a well known bug. I still can't view any videos regardless of whether I'm using the Microsoft or NVidia version of that .dll.
3) Reinstall the Edge browser using this video
4) Checked whether Adobe Flash player was turned on in Edge about a million times
5) Uninstalled all Windows 10 updates (including flash related ones) and then reinstalled them.
I am wanting to remove or at least disable edge browser in Windows 10. I will never use this web browser and so would like to get it out of the way.
View 9 Repliesim having real problems with the edge browser, it is very slow to open then when it does it locks,i have to other
browsers, google and firefox, they work perfectly
I've discovered one useful feature of Edge is the ability to cast video to my Sony TV. However, the playback is sometimes jerky. Is there a way optimising the playback settings when casting videos via Edge?
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to automate changing the default browser from Edge to IE. We are still dependent on IE and can not deploy W10 with Edge as the default.
