My browsers continually freeze since "upgrading" to Windows 10. It is the now legendary "Shockwave Flash Player" issue - and it is intensely frustrating. Every day, use of any browser - explorer, chrome, firefox and that new "Edge" in Windows 10 results in pages freezing and the same tired old message about the Shockwave pulg-in not working.
View 3 RepliesI have upgraded my laptop over a month now with windows 10 and never had major issues.
Recently (over a week now) internet browsers keep crashing whenever there is video content. Sites like facebook, youtube etc.. even apps for youtube do not work. I've checked a bit and seems like shockwave is the fault. Tried to check for updates but didn't find anything useful on the net.
I upgraded a month or so ago and all was fine but the last few weeks most web sites fail. I know my network is ok as other computers are ok and from the problem host oing and ssh work just fine (ip address and hostname). Google seems to work ok, most of the time, but most sites from google time out. The same if I type the site in by hand. I have tried Chrome and Edge, I was unable to download firefox, the web site timed out. I have AVG antivirus suite installed, I have tried to disable all its componets to no avail.
I have a local web server XAMP running and I cannot reach it locally, but from another host on my net it works ok.
I am using WiFi, but so are all my hosts.
I tried wireshark but it was inconclusive, I never did see any traffic. Coming or going, but I know coming works as the server was working, so I must have been on wrong interface (I had clicked on wifi). Netstat was also inconclusive, I could see the connection to google and the web server but not the timed out connections. I'm at a loss as to what to try next?
I tried connecting with netcat but it timed out just like the browsers.
Few days ago I realized my Google Chrome was having issue with Shockwave flash. I got a popup saying there was an issue and it would not respond. Then I tried firefox and got same issue. I tinkered around with flash, removed and re installed it however when I attempted to play a flash video online, it displayed only a picture and not play video.
So I attempted to play a WMV file on my computer and that too ended up freezing and slowed my system down where I had to exit out of media player. I ran Malware and Virus scans, and I dont seem to have any issues there unless I missed something. Also, I did hear something about Flash being replaced by html5 soon.
Whenever I open something that uses Java it always crashes and says this: [URL] ....
Is there something I can do to fix it? Should I install a different version of java?
The "shutting down" message is continually on screen so I'm unable to do anything. Turning the power off and on just returns me to the same shutting down message.
View 1 Repliesi uploaded windows 10 and it was doing fine for a day or two, then it started updates, stuck at 75% with the update circle continually turning. Only thing it will let me do is restart with ctrl alt del command. Other than that it's just a screen with the update circle.
View 4 RepliesWhen I scroll to make my selection in a drop-down menu, the menu just disappears before I get a chance to select an option from the menu.
It happens over and over, even when I do my best to be quick in my selection. It is very frustrating when filling out forms, especially when unable to manually type selection in the box.
Don't know if it is related or not, but also having frustrations with keyboard... While typing, letters will not show when I type them. I must constantly be reading as I type to make sure each letter appears. Sometimes must hit the key 3-5 times before it appears.
I have a feeling this is not related to Windows 10... just thought I'd mention it too. Took me forever to type this!
Just since my Win 10 upgrade, if I plug in the charger the screen goes black. Then I unplug, it comes back on! I have played with the power settings, not much to rave about there, except one thing I barely caught a glimpse of. In the Additional power settings, at the bottom is the brightness control. When I plug in the charger, the slider goes all the way to the right. Is that not backwards? Anyway, what will fix this so it can be posted somewhere (like here) so people like me can find it.
View 1 RepliesI've got a little issue, whenever I plugin headphones (usb) I dont get sound and the sound is still going through speakers, I didn't had problem with this until the latest update on Windows, its really annoying cause everytime I want to switch to headphones I need to restart my PC. Yes I checked sound settings, the headphones are there when I plug them, there's just no sound.

I don't know if it has to do with me updating to windows 10. I'm not sure. I have REALTEK HD AUDIO DRIVE.

What are the sound plugs on the back of my motherboard for? They are colored as Black and Orange on the top and on the Bottom, Pink, Green and Blue. View 2 RepliesI installed Windows 10 earlier today, and since installing it I've been having an issue, whenever I launch any browser, whether it be Chrome, Mozilla, IE, or Torch, it causes the taskbar to disappear, along with all of my desktop shortcuts, and I can no longer right click on my desktop to bring up the small menu for shortcuts/personalization.
I've already tried things like terminating the "explorer.exe" process, and restarting it, and I really don't know what else to do. It may also be other programs that cause the taskbar to disappear, such as games, but I haven't been able to test it, seeing as just launching a browser makes it disappear and I normally launch Torch as soon as I turn on my PC.
This will be in layman's terms. The new Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Google Chrome, all get stuck, or hang. They take up to 3 minutes or even up to 5 minutes to unstick. Running on Toshiba Satellite. Just upgraded for free last night, and I was too tired, lazy, and dumb to do anything smart like a clean install, use a cool tool, etc.

I have tried black ops 2, gta v, shadow of mordor, steam trailers for games, but to absolutely no avail. It's really starting to annoy me, as all i want to do is enjoy my Sunday afternoon. And there will always be the odd bloke that asks, I am using Razer krakens, plugged into the side of my Blackwidow. I've completely uninstalled Razer Synapse, and restarted my PC countless times.

Chrome is a little more stable then the other two. Example when opening up Internet Explorer my homepage is set to MSN and as soon as the content begins to load it stops responding and I must force quit.

View 1 RepliesQuite often pretty much all of the time. I can be typing an email and the computer slows to a crawl. The words that I type don't show with the keyboard inputs and then they will suddenly fill in the gaps. If I open task manager I will see 4 or 5 instances of chrome using resources even though I only have one chrome tab open. Those 4 or 5 open chrome tasks can be using up to 30% of my CPU and 30-40% of my memory. I have run adware and Malware bytes just to see if something has been installed without my being aware, but both scans come up clean.
