Got this message "CPU isn't supported" when they tried to upgrade to W10. We tried the Media Creation Tool and it came back with "You can't install Windows 10 because your processor doesn't support CompareExchange128". So where do i send her from here ??

I currently own a Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop with Windows 7 installed, but just received the last part to build my own desktop today! I'm looking to get Windows 10 on my new PC.I recently received the "Get Windows 10" button in the toolbar on my laptop, but when I click on it, it says I can't upgrade to Windows 10 because "the BIOS isn't supported".
However, I don't really want Windows 10 on my laptop; I'd much rather have it on my new desktop. So, my first question: is there a way that I can download a bootable Windows 10 file to my current laptop, transfer to a flash drive, and use that to install Windows 10 on my new PC right out of the box, all for free?
So my next question is: will buying and downloading the version of Windows 8.1 Pro in the above link work for my situation? That is, is it a full install in the sense that I will be able to make it a bootable file on my flash drive to install on my new PC? I believe I would have to download a Windows 8 ISO file to start.
My last question: is there an easier alternative to getting Windows 10 on my new PC, and if so, what is it? I think I can download Windows 10 here: URL... I'm not quite sure how that process would work either.
I have upgraded an older Acer extensa 5220 that came with windows vista pre installed and it runs really well but I cant upgrade .a later model Toshiba lap top because the processor is not supported it came with windows 7 pre installed. I thought if it ran windows 7 it could be upgraded ...
View 5 RepliesI have a PC running Windows 7 Pro. I ran the 'Get Windows 10' app and it reported that it was not possible to upgrade because my graphics card (Geforce 7300LE) was not supported. I bought a new graphics card (Geforce GT610) and re-ran the app.
Despite the removal and replacement of the old card, the app still says I can't upgrade because the old card is unsupported. It appears that it hasn't detected the change. Is there any way to make the app 'forget' the original card? As far as I can see in device manager the driver for the old card has gone so what is the app looking at?
I can't upgrade to windows 10 and it displays the message as in the attached image.

When I try to upgrade my Dell XPS 15 running Win 8.1 to Win 10 I get a message "we couldn't update the system reserved partition", I only have an EFI system partition, not the 100MB DATA partition I've read about.

View 4 RepliesNew PC build on MSI Gaming 5 motherboard. Put in an OEM System Builder Windows 8.1 Pro disc and clicked upgrade, not install. Now the machine won't install Windows and if I re-enter setup, it tells me invalid product key. Any way to reverse this or how can I get the OS installed?

Main board is an ACER AST690, CPU Pentium D 2 core 3.4 GHz, OS Win 7 Pro SP1 When I first tried to load Win 10, I was running an Pentium 4 672 HT-Vt, 3.8 GHz. I got a message that my CPU was not supported. Coreinfo indicated prefetchw was missing. I found the Pentium D 2 Core that has prefetchw. Win 10 still won't load from the start menu icon. I downloaded the isoimage of Win 10. It will load but as home addition which I don't want. My last check of compatibility of Win 10 was on 8-10-2015. Do I need to wait until after 9-10 for Microsoft to rerun the compatibility test? I really don't want Home Addition of Win 10, I want to upgrade from Win 7. Will I be able to load Win 10 after 9-10?

View 1 RepliesA friend of mine upgraded to W10 this afternoon after being on W7 Ultimate. Everything seemed okay until he went to change his monitor resolution. It isn't listed under the resolution settings in the control panel. His monitor's native is 1366x768, but even when selecting 1360x768, it says that his input is not supported.
This is strange considering it worked just fine when on Windows 7. My only thought is that his GPU is quite old - It's a ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series, and the monitor is an Acer X193HQ. He doesn't know an awful lot about hardware, but I believe he's using a DVI cable from the PO.
Not long installed the new Windows 10, but I had to change my language pack from English - United States to English - United Kingdom, now I'm trying to activate Cortana, but comes up saying Cortana isn't supported in the region or language you've selected.

I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday, and at first, everything was fine, but when I play league of legends, randomly, my computer just says "input not supported" or "no signal" or sometimes nothing at all, and then shuts down. This never happened before I upgraded to Windows 10. I went back to Windows 8.1, but it still shuts down in the middle of league games. Again, never happened before going to Windows 10. Is it my GPU? or CPU? or PSU?

Also, the SSD is my boot drive and has league on it, it has only about 35GB out of 240GB left.
I installed Windows 10 and found some apps did not fit the monitor screen (too big). I went in and changed the monitor resolution to a larger size (windows recommended 1920 x 1080) but I tried something larger, and now the monitor has a black screen with a little box moving around which says "input not supported". Not being able to use that monitor to go in and change it back, I hooked up a flat screen t.v. which worked but Windows only showed the current monitor size (which was smaller than the original monitor.
I tried the monitor on another computer I have also running Windows 10 and it worked fine. It shows the resolution as 1920 x 1080. When I plugged it back into the original computer I get the same plack screen with "input not supported" so I can't change it there. I suspect the issue is with the registry somewhere in Windows 10 on the first computer, but what the problem is. I've been working on this for a whole day now. You can probably tell I'm not well versed in computer technology. I just want my old monitor back (Acer K272HL) and I promise I won't mess around with it again.

View 3 RepliesAlthough not a specifically Win10 message the regularity with which the message appears since updating to Win10 is beginning to annoy me. My set up has a small allocation to a recovery drive for the PC, a relic from a prior setup. I could probably delete the partition and merge it with another but for now it doesn't use up much space and happy to leave it except... Every so often I get a system message that says I have low disc space on this drive (in fact no space at all) and I want to stop the message from appearing, I know it is low on disc space and don't need to be told every half hour. how to stop it?
Also I do need to get into the depths of the OpSystem to start to understand privileges etc
