Can't Boot With 2 Displays - HDMI Will Flash On And Off While DVI Does Not Receive Any Signal
Mar 2, 2016
I just installed a new SSD and moved my OS onto it, however now I can't start my computer with both of my displays plugged in (1 HDMI and 1 DVI). The main display (HDMI) will flash on and off while the DVI does not receive any signal, until I unplug the DVI and then the computer starts like normal. Both displays work just fine after it has booted.
My display driver is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950, and it is up-to-date as of the time I'm posting this. The Nvidia control panel recognizes both displays and has the HDMI selected as the main display without me having to touch it.
I could boot with both displays plugged in before I installed the SSD.
I did a clean install of Windows (not cloning) originally on the SSD and even tried to re-install again to see if it would fix it and it does not.
The only option in BIOS related to display is to go back to my processor's integrated graphics instead of my Nvidia card, but this really should not be related to the issue at all as both the DVI and HDMI are plugged directly into the Nvidia card's ports.
Something I found very weird when I was checking the BIOS is that if on boot I go to BIOS, exit, and proceed to boot, it works just fine. But not if I just do a normal boot.
when i connect a dvi or hdmi from my gtx 780 to my acer H274HL Monitor all works fine but when i want to connect display port cable on my gtx 780 and the other side is hdmi that goes to my monitor than there is no signal at all.
i am running windows 10 64 bit enterprise and all drivers are up to date also windows updates are up to date.
After installing windows 10, most of the time when I boot after the windows logo with circles below it the signal to display stops, if I press reset then the computer boots but the startup is very slow. With windows 8 from pressing the power button I would get to desktop in 8 secs, here it takes at least 30 secs or more. I would like to know the if problem is with windows 10 or Nvidia drivers.
PC: Alienware Area 51 R2 with a GeForce GTX 980 NVIDIA 10DE-13C0 Monitor: Samsung 4k TV 48JU6700
Only the HDMI1 port on this TV supports HDMI 2.0. I have a good quality IBRA 6ft HDMI 2.0 cable that I'm using. If I try to boot into Windows 10 while I'm plugged into the HDMI 1 port, the screen stays black and doesn't even boot properly. If I press the power button on the PC it instantly shuts off and if I try to move the HDMI cable to a different port nothing happens. However, if I plug into the HDMI2 port which doesn't support HDMI 2.0, the computer boots fine and I can get into Windows, however the mouse jumps around, the text is weird colors and not very sharp on webpages, and images aren't great.
I updated the BIOS, I have all the latest updates for other hardware, including GeForce Experience. I also followed all the instruction on setting up the TV to use as a 4k monitor.
Installed Win 10 and get it working. My problem is I have Win 8.1 Pro on a Samsung EVO SSD T-1. I went out and bought a Samsung 225 gig SSD HDD to install Win 10. I downloaded the Win 7 ISO and it worked perfectly. When I first tried to install Win 10 on the boot up with the USB flash media drive I went into setup on Win 10 and when I selected the new hard drive for the installation it gave me a message that it could not install on that drive. The other partition on the drive said system info. I hit delete and it installed. I don't know if I should have re formatted.
I go to bios setup on my motherboard Asus Z-97 and select Samsung EVO and it goes directly into Win 8.1 Pro. If I reboot and select in the bios Windows media drive it boots into Win 10. My question is I thought (based on all the screen shots I see here in the forum) that when I boot up my computer it should take me to a blue screen with 2 selection boxes Win 8.1 pro or Win 10 and I should be able to select.
I would rather see the 2 boxes where I can select one of them. My last question is when I bring up my Win 10 the fonts on the menus and etc. are so small I cannot hardly read them. I am using a LG 21.9 3440 x 1440 ultra wide monitor and have my text at largest and my screen zoomed to 150.
in windows 10 when I trying to safely eject the USB it says that the USB device is already in use (which is not )and if I'm removing it forcely the pc freeze and I'm getting the bsod with the error: inaccessible boot device and then my pc turning off I tried to format but it still happing I had no choice to go back to win 8.1 and there everything good (also it happing with some USB devices but some are working to but still .
My Surface Pro alerts me when I miss a phone call. I can sends texts through Cortana, but it doesn't show me the text messages when I receive them on my phone.
Win 10 and WLM 2011 (Windows Live Mail.) Previous to upgrading to Windows 10, I sent and received emails using WLM. No problems, everything worked fine. After Win 10 install over win 7, (keep all settings, apps etc) I cannot send/receive emails, nor can I use Chrome Browser "This page is unavailable" But that is another issue for later.
I have checked and double checked the settings, Servers, usernames, passwords etc. Still cannot connect
Message received: "Unable to send or receive messages for the XXXXXXXXXX account. The host 'pop.XXXXX.com.au' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Server: 'pop.XXXXX.com.au' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0D (Googled this, but the answer was to Uninstall Zone Alarm etc, and I do not have it) Protocol: POP3 Port: 110 Secure(SSL): No Socket Error: 11003
Makes no difference if the email is Gmail, Yahoo, or POP/Imap. I don't want to resort to using MAIL/Calendar with Win 10. The internet connection is working fine, but not for WLM 2011 or Mozilla Thunderbird 38.2.0 (Just found out) I can use the internet connection with EDGE, but that is all. Yes, I did goto win10 help pages, but still no fix available.
I have HP Elitebook 8460p with mobile broadband module. Am using internet on my PC with Mobile Broadband using Cellular network sim card. So can any body know hot to send sms from windows 10. I know that Windows 10 have own message apps but it just received sms. and when i try to send sms from it. The an error received that make sure you have turn off Flight mode. but i have also turn off my flight mode.
I'm using Windows 10 Mobile on Lumia 925 and am unable to send or receive MMS (text messages containing images).
Mobile internet is working, as well as normal text messages but whenever I try to send a message containing an image, it simply says "failed - tap to try again". Of course, I can try again, it still doesn't work.
APN settings are ok.
Note that on Windows Phone 8.1 I had no such problems on the same phone. This is Build 10586 but it already didn't work with previous builds.
I am running a Virtual Machine in VM Ware and on Windows 7 Ultimate it worked fine no problems at all. But suddenly after the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro I no longer receive internet on my VM.
Basically, after installing windows 10 I turn on the computer, and it works. But my TV which I run through HDMI to my computer shows and says "no signal". SIDE NOTE: when I turn on my computer my computer runs awfully quiet. For a few seconds I hear something get loud but then it dies down.
I have a Dell XPS 15 L502X + IN2020M_Digital monitor connected via laptop’s HDMI port. Graphics is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I can no longer Duplicate the displays. However, PC Screen Only, Extend, and Second Screen Only will work.In Device Manager I have uninstalled both the IN2020M and the Generic PnP Monitor and restarted. They were added back but no change.I basically confirmed that the monitor is not the problem because I also can't Duplicate the displays when a projector is connected via HDMI.
Recently upgraded to Win10 pro 64bit. I have an ASUS HD7770-1GD5 video card running both a 26in HD wide monitor as well as a 17in square non HD monitor. Duplicating the screen content on both is what I need. Somehow I had this working great in Win 7, but I must have something set wrong, as the content on both monitors now is indeed the same, but the square screen displays in landscape mode which makes it difficult to see. The clarity of the wide screen monitor is much less than optimal as well. What are the correct settings for this type of setup? I have the widescreen connected via HDMI cable and the older square LCD monitor is connected from the DVI output to a VGA adapter for the monitor.
Win 7 allowed this, but I can't figure out how in Win 10. I want Win 10 to "trust" my Galaxy S5 and automatically receive and save files sent by the phone. I send multiple files, usually photos, and having to go through all the manual steps for each picture is not working for me. I have Googled this and searched forums to no avail.
I now get "Network Operation Failed" and below that, "Error with send/receive. There was an error synchronizing your folder hierarchy. Error: 80041004"
This Outlook install is part of Office 2010. Everything was running fine until this morning. I did a lot of searching and found a reference to a Control Panel setting. However, now, it appears that Control Panel has gone missing!!! I ran a utility on the command line, I forget the actual command, to deal with corrupted files. It found some issue, so it said. I rebooted. Nothing has changed... I've wasted the whole day so far.
I don't know if it is related but I seem to also have problems on some web sites displaying images. As if the HTML is displayed only, without the css settings. (Chrome browser) - same on Firefox browser.
Yooooo! I have a Lenovo Y510p with modified BIOS so I could replace the crappy Intel wireless card that came with it (Intel Centrino N2230) for an Azurewave - Broadcom 4352. The experience has been good so far, the only problem I'm having is the low wireless signal with the card. I have other laptops that have higher range and strengths on the same place with older cards.
I've tried verifying (and even swapping) the cables and noted no difference. I asked on another forum and they told me that it could be that the card is not receiving enough power, but I have yet to find a settings in the BIOS or in Windows that dwindles its performance. I have recently updated the driver from Lenovo's website and it didn't improve a bit. How to improve the wireless signal?
Sometimes when turning pc on I get a popup saying input signal out of range change settings to 1600x900-60hz and when pc comes on everything is magnified then after rebooting several times screen returns to normal?
When I first upgraded, the taskbar on my first display was located on the left side of the display and the taskbar on my second display was located on the bottom. I liked this. But I wanted to see how I'd like having both on left hand side. I went into taskbar properties. `Taskbar location on screen` was set to `custom` and I changed it to `left`.
I decided I didn't like this and wanted to change it back. But `custom` no longer appeared in this drop down and I couldn't find any other option to change them separately. Is there any way to change it back? Perhaps a specific registry key?
