Can't Enter The Password Into Box On Login Screen
Aug 16, 2015When the win 10 login screen comes up, clicking on the password box does nothing and the password cannot be entered. What do I do?

Apr 3, 2015I just upgraded a new laptop to Windows 10 with the latest build. Everything was great until I rebooted after uninstalling some bloatware and now I can't get back into Windows. The login screen comes up and the only user account (admin) is listed, but there is no where to enter the password. This has be baffled.
I've been trying to get into safe mode, but the HP Envy 15 that I'm using doesn't seem to want to let me do that.

Aug 6, 2015I (think) successfully updated to Win10. But, when I went to start up I can't get past the hi there screen. The password box will not populate when I key in my password. I do not see an arrow or any indication that my mouse is working. Tried rebooting with keyboard disconnected then reconnected and no go.

Aug 4, 2015After upgrading two old household laptops to Windows 10 through the step up dealio, I decided it was okay and stable to update my one month old gaming machine as well,
( YES I forgot to back it up, stupid, yes. Only truly worried about my save game files as the critical information on my SSD, nothing dreadfully important besides lots of hours of wasted Witcher 3 time)
The update installed seemingly fine, although overnight and I woke up to the password login, whence from there I entered my password and the screen freezes and the PC restarts almost immediately and brings me right back to the endless cycle of Login/password entrance screen.
1.Can I make a bootable USB from my other laptops with Win10 currently Installed and use it to reinstall on my gaming rig, or at least download it online and do it that way?
2. Would reinstalling my Win7 delete any folders and files (save games and steam games not on backup 2TB HDD) that are on my SDD, basically downgrading windows back from the Win10 login to the Win7 stable version?
3. Could it be my GTX 970 crashing new Win10 because I didnt install the new Nvidia driver pre-Win10 install? Maybe try removing the card and booting with onboard i5 4690k GPU? (will try soon)
Why does this happen to my brand spanking new mid range rig and not the jalopy old laptops I have...

Aug 12, 2015Yesterday my friend installed windows 10, but encounters an issue when logging in. He types in his password, but it says its invalid, he then clicks next, but then the screen goes black then reboots.
He has an HP Pavilion desktop.
Is there any way to revert back to windows 7, which he was previously on?

Oct 24, 2015I got a new laptop with Windows 10 about a month ago. Used it several times over the last month, even yesterday. But this morning when I tried to use it, it will not let me enter my password. I can move the mouse, but that's all. I can't get to any other screens.

I have printed how to Make Windows 10 not require a Password on Wake. I went to Power Options in Control Panel, click the "Require a password on wakeup" on the left-hand side. Clicked on... "Change settings that are currently unavailable" link, then click the "Don't require a password " button, and made I saved it.
After the computer goes to sleep and I need to wake it up, it asks for my password. I've tried this at least dozen times in many different way according to some that post how to do it.
Forced To Enter Password When Waking Up
Dec 18, 2015Windows 10 was forcing me to enter a password every time the computer booted up. I ran netplwiz, unchecked the box that said password was required, entered my password twice, then I shut down the computer (not just a restart, a complete shutdown). When I turned it back on it didn't ask for a password. But then after it was idle for awhile, when I woke it up it wanted a password again. How do I get rid of that?

Nov 12, 2015Ok so i am furious with Micro$oft now! the other day i was FORCED to change my microsoft account after much nagging i did so and i dont like changing logins too much. (this was a week ago)
now for some random reason on earth without my permission my windows login also changed login passwords to the microsoft account. I DONT WANT THAT! that password is too long and complicated for someone who locks his computer every 5 minutes or so. why did this just kick in now? i changed M$ account pass over a week ago and today it decides to change windows login?! can i change JUST my local windows login separate from microsoft login?
if i try to change pass from settings it it goes online and says you cant use password that has been used before.

Sep 8, 2015I just upgraded my laptop from windows 7 to windows 10. Before I upgraded, my brother created an account for himself and windows 10 seems to think that his account was the main one. He didn't have administrator access, so now I'm locked out of everything that requires administrator access.
When I try to install new software, the security pop up happens, asking for an administrator password, but there is no field to enter a password.
I can't open the command prompt (windows -> cmd -> enter)
I can't switch accounts, logging out lists no other accounts.
How do I get administrator access back, and how can I make windows stop thinking I'm my brother?

Before doing so I could go directly to my password screen, without the previous window due to a tweak, and when I keyed in my password it would open automatically without having to press the "Enter" key. Now I must do so. My search has only found how to not have the first screen mentioned above but not the password part.

Apr 14, 2016Husband updated his laptop to Windows 10 several months ago. So far it's been good, and he likes it...that is until this morning. He opens the laptop...no internet connection. It shows our wifi network, but won't connect. He enters his password...says he needs to enter password for that device. Enter password from before Windows 10...no good. Enter password for micorstoft...no good.
Using my laptop (Windows 7) to find fix. I've tried: Troublshoot network connection by right clicking. Right Click won't work...nothing happens. Maybe keyboard language is wrong...no settings button available to look at keyboard properties. Try connecting directly to router...won't make connection. We've rebooted the computer a couple of times, to no avail.
Our phones are connected, my laptop is connected, our chromecast is connected, so we know it's not the router. There is something up with his laptop.
Playing ring around the rosey is not the best way to spend a Sunday morning. no internet connection = no ability to enter password = not able to troubleshoot internet connection = no internet connection = no ability to enter password.

Nov 2, 2015I have my laptop at work and have had no trouble connecting the company WiFi (they have Guest WiFi and a WiFi where you need to enter your company provided Username and Password). I have been connecting using my Username and password. Today I had to change my company login password. Now when I try to connect my laptop I get a "can't connect" message because the password saved in my laptop is no longer valid. But I can't find a place in Win10 to enter my new password.
I remember the first time I logged onto the company WiFi a Windows popup came up asking for my Username and Password (which was saved so I didn't need to enter it again - until now). This time not getting the popup - it just says "can't connect".

When I rebooted the computer the message was that the name or password was wrong.
The screen showed two boxes in the lower left hand of the display. The lower had the name of John-0000 and the top box had the name of John.
When I click on the lower box it asks for a name and password
When I click on the top box it asks for a password.
I do not know how to change it back to the original.

Renamed PC And Now Being Prompted To Login With Password
Aug 27, 2015I renamed my PC and now a (new?) account looks like it's been made. Upon logging in I'm told the password is incorrect.But when clicking OK I get this screen and notice my PC is trying to log in to another account, which appears to be the same account but it's not as it requires a different password (which I have not set up) and I do not know it!
My usual log in is my Microsoft account, where I don't need to put in a password it will just sign me in no problems as shown in the image below, it is not ticked. I can't find this second account that has appeared out of no where. Therefore I cant delete it and stop it from automatically signing in!
Basically how do I remove this user so my Microsoft account is the default login, and will log me in without being prompted for a password?Update 16:11PMBelow is the image I found the user "Katie" under System properties (this is where I renamed my computer) but I have no option to delete it.
