Can't Log Into Acer Laptop - Unable To Type In Password
Oct 29, 2015
I have an Acer Aspire V5-573G, recently upgraded to Windows 10 a few weeks ago. Was using my laptop this morning just fine but tonight when I turned it on, I get to the password log in and I can't type in my password.
I can still move the cursor around the screen and go back to the screen displaying the time/date before the password log in screen. I just can't type in my password! Nothing happens.
Also the little icons in the bottom right corner are dull, the clock symbol and the power symbol, although the wifi symbol is highlighted as it's connected. I've unplugged all external hard drives and even turned off my wifi.

I just installed the free upgrade (Windows 8.1 to Windows 10) on my laptop and can not enter the password.
My existing 8.1 account's password had an (german umlaut) character and now after Windows 10 (language english US) is installed I see no chance to type in my password. I'm stuck at the login screen...
I already tried the virtual keyboard and [Alt][0][2][4][6], but it doesn't work. What the heck!! How can I login?

2.Troubleshoot>Reset this PC>Removes everything>= error:Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing.

4. Troubleshoot>System Image Recovery>= error:Windows cannot find a system image on this computer. Attach the backup hard disk or insert the final DVD from a backup set and click retry. Alternatively close this dialog for more options.
5.Troubleshoot>Startup repair>= error: start up repair couldn't repair PC. Press advance to try other options to repair you PC or "shutdown" to turn off your PC. Log file:
6.Troubleshoot>Go back to the previous build>= Windows ran into a problem and wont be able to take you back to the previous build. Try resetting your current build instead(Troubleshoot > Reset this PC).
7. Install>Upgrade>Compatibility report: The computer started using the Windows installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that windows stars normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade.
8.Install>Custom> We couldnt find any drivers. To get a storage driver, click load driver
when trying to load the USB it says no signed drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK
I just want to get my laptop running at this point and probably go back to windows 7. dont mind losing my files cus most were backed up

I have installed intel's driver detection tool and it informed me that I have a custom driver installed by the manufacturer. Acer site scanned my pc and found new driver VGA 10.18.15.4248, which i downloaded but upon installation tells me is the wrong driver for my pc. I have upgraded(haha) from win8.1 to 10, not sure if this is part of the problem. This driver was released 7/15. I ran windows driver updater and it tells me the driver I have, the only one btw, is current. I have tried to contact both Acer and Intel and get no answers.

I have an Acer Aspire laptop that used to have Bluetooth on it. I just recently noticed that all evidence of Bluetooth has disappeared from the OS. The Bluetooth module that I am using is:
Bluetooth 4.0 + HS, the two drivers listed on the support portal for my model number are an Atheros Wifi/BT combo and a Broadcom. I can't tell since there since the OS doesn't see it.
First thing I tried is to download and install both drivers from the manufacture's site (Acer Support). Both installers did not detect the BT module being present and ended prematurely.

It seems now that every time I run or delete an EXE file, the system makes me type in the password for the Administrator; especially as I typically do stuff in the dark, having to locate the keys for my password is a real pain. Now, I don't mind having that dialog box come up and making me simply click on the button (or hit Enter, etc.) In fact, if this is something that can prevent "drive-by" downloads or other nefarious stuff from happening, I want it (although I still mind typing in the password). In Windows 7, the system behaved in this latter way, and I'd like Windows 10 to behave in the same way.

I've just upgraded my laptop to Win10 (did my desktop several months ago). The laptop is unable to take input to the Search the web and Windows task bar. I've searched the web, but all I've found was references to killing and restarting Search from the task manager, but there is no Search running. Also any time I try to start Cortana, I can see it start in Task Manager, but it then disappears. So the short of it is can't start Cortana and there is no Search running to restart. How do I get this feature to work?

I'm unable to type all special characters that require the Alt key to be pressed. €, ², ³, μ, and most importantly, @, are no longer possible with a German keyboard layout. I tried German German and Austrian German, and both failed to produce those signs. Normally, the @ sign is produced by pressing Alt+q, but since upgrading to Windows 10, nothing happens when I press Alt+q (or any other combination of Alt+letter).
Only German keyboard layouts seem to be affected, as I'm able to use Alt+letter combinations in other languages; just not in German.

Not being able to slide to type in the browser address bar is my pet peeve with W10M, considering I use Edge quite frequently. The address bar is used for search and it only makes sense to do so!

Windows kept asking me for the password upon startup and would not recognize the password I input each time. So I would have to reset it. I went to the forum and read how to shut the password feature off by holding the windows key + r , typing the letters provided and unchecking the box. The system then asked me to restart. My laptop will not restart - blue/black screen appears and nothing else.

I tried that Windows 10 registry fix, and my laptop no longer recognizes my password. It keeps saying my password is incorrect. I got the update error on both of my laptops, but I tried the registry fix on an older laptop before I tried to fix it on my main laptop. My laptop starts fine and I get to the log in screen okay, but my password is no longer being recognized as correct. Did I destroy my laptop? I followed the directions exactly.

My laptop has been running windows 7 very successfully and after being prompted numerous times to install Windows 10, I went ahead last night. Had no problems with the installation, however, on attempting to close down, the laptop would only turn-off after closing the lid which is not a problem, but after about an hour or so, it turned on automatically again without me touching it. It looks as though it only goes into stand-by. I have not found a solution to the problem - the result is flat battery when I tried to use it today. What is the solution?

I have a HP Pavilion 15 laptop that I bought in January this year. I had no problems with this laptop at all until I updated to Windows 10 and still don't for the most part.
When I attempt to shut down, hibernate or sleep my machine it goes to a black screen with the power still on, meaning I hold the power button down myself to switch it off (which is not good for it) or wait until it runs out of battery (also not ideal).
