Can't Move Music Folder To Another Drive
Feb 10, 2016
I'm trying to move all of my documents to a new hard drive and I successfully did it with all of them except for the "Music" folder; each time I try to move it to a new location I get this error message:

When I had Windows 7, I had literally every single thing in My Documents. Every song, every file, every tax record, every picture...literally everything. That way, when I backed up my hard drive, I just plugged in the My Passport Ultra drive, synced it with My Documents, and everything backed up.
But in Windows 10, I'm seeing Frequent Folders that include ThisPCMusic and ThisPCDocuments. So I figured I would just drag the music folder into the Documents folder, and it would just create yet another subfolder within Documents (other subfolders within Documents include "Resume", "Travel Info," etc. So I figured "Music" would just be another subfolder, as was the case with my Windows 7 setup.
Instead, it made a copy of the music folder, which is not what I want. I want to actually migrate the Music folder into Documents as a subfolder. I thought that maybe I could just copy it over and delete the original Music folder, but what if the copy doesn't work because the original version has been wiped out.

My 'documents' folder suddenly got moved into another folder named 'Doctor Web.' Looking into this, I find that Doctor Web is a piece of security software originating in Russia, apparently quite respectable, but it's not something I ever installed. According to its properties, the Doctor Web folder was created in 2014, but it wasn't on my computer two days ago when a backup I ran had no errors. Today, it choked on the new folder. I'm attaching a screen grab to illustrate the situation.
My question is, is there some method by which I can move the 'documents' folder from the 'Doctor Web' folder. put it back where it belongs and delete the 'Doctor Web' folder? I have access to all my documents, but I am not at all happy with them being spontaneously moved like this. Al

There is a great feature in win7 explorer that you can arrange your music in the music folder by a few options such as albums, genre and artist. There is a way to get it again in win10 explorer?
Example.....

I have 2 partitions in my PC. One is an SSD one is an HDD.It seems that Windows 10 put my users folder by default onto the SSD. I'd much rather it be on the HDD. Is it possible to move? My SSD isn't very large. Also, my user folder has a ridiculous name on it. It was cool when I was in high school when I first made my MSN account but it is a blight on my system. Can I change the name?

I don't sync my OneDrive music folder because it contains too much data. However, everytime I open Groove music, it creates a folder called Music in my local onedrive space. This folder then tries to sync and gives a conflict.

Any way to use a single network folder for my music across three local computers. I’d like to just be able to point the folder to a location on a networked laptop so that I don’t have to maintain and use the space on each machine. However, I cannot seem to figure out how to accomplish this. Any similar method that achieves the same thing would be great. I’d rather not use “cloud space” for this although I know it’s an alternative.

They do not use OneDrive or Box Sync, so my PC is linked to my personal accounts. Is it possible to somehow ask Windows not to display those items up in front?
I keep some work related items in these so I can sync the data with my home PC to do work there, but there is also personal information that I keep in these.
Before (i.e. Windows 7), these were kept only in the User folder.

Is it ok to delete Music, pictures, and videos folders from C:/Users/user? I recall this not working and having to hack the registry a bit to make it work in Windows 7. How can I do it in Windows 10? I really don't need these folders as I find they just clutter up my file explorer and anyway I choose to store my media elsewhere.

scanned through the 250 odd titles that came up but could not find reference to relocating the offline files folder. I frequently take an image of the system drive as a backup but, with an ever increasing offline folder (windowscsc), this is getting unworkable so I want to move the folder to my data drive (D:).
I've tried using a symbolic link to a folder on the C drive (as I've successfully done with the OneDrive folder) but win10 seems to object and stops working.
Surprisingly, with google there's loads of references to doing this with previous versions of windows but I can't find anything Win10 specific. Any reliable way of relocating the csc folder?

I can move this folder by myself and i'm not trying to move this folder to another partition or drive. This folder can be moved with "Move" command if i move it by myself first. Also, other folders that are in the same folder as problematic one can be moved without any problems. Move command from command prompt.

I've newly installed W10 Pro and am constantly being pestered with permission nags (see attached) while attempting to reorganise files within the Local Disk.
I've tried changing the User permissions via "Properties>Security" but encounter nothing but a load of error messages.
I upgraded from Windows 7, bypassing 8 entirely so I've never had to tackle this issue before. I'd like full access without annoying UAC-related notifications every two minutes!

I created the USB recovery drive successfully with the option "Back up system files to the recovery drive".
Since I needed the USB for another purpose, I transferred the files from the USB to a separate partition on an external HDD and made this drive bootable using YUMI.
So now, on the same laptop, I am able to boot to this new partition on my external HDD where windows recovery environment comes up just fine. I did not want to test the reset or refresh part. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the "System Restore" option on the advanced options screen. I got an error message "To use system restore, you must specify which Windows installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an operating system and then select System Restore"

Its a common issue, but a long time ago I have fixed this issue but i forgot how. I have already tried all the fixes I could find on the internet. I disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" on every port, I also went to power settings and disabled use selective suspend setting on EVERY POWER PROFILE.
And i also updated the usb 3.0 extensible drivers and the intel series 8 intel chipset drivers. but everytime i plug my external HDD to my new laptop the first 3.0 port sometimes just keep connecting and disconnecting instantly, and on the second port it connects and stay connected but if i move a big file it will start flickering on and off ( small files i can move) and yes i know about the radiation that 3.0 devices output and i have moved the drive away from the laptop. last step is to disable wifi and try again.didnt work.
USB 2.0 ports work fine

I recently got an SSD, with my old HDD set as a storage. I was trying to move the quick navigation folders on the left of Windows Explorer from the SSD to the D: drive (HDD).
However, with the 'My Music' shortcut, I accidently moved it to just the D: drive, rather than a folder within the D: Drive. This means the 'My Music' now directs me to straight to the D: drive, and when I try and move it, Windows says access is denied.

Is it possible to move the entire "Users" directory from C drive to D drive and have it be recognized without doing anything special?
I do a system image of my C drive regularly but my D drive is continuously backed up to a local NAS and I would like my user information backed up the same way.

I have mu music collection on a QNAP NAS. This is mapped as a network drive. I can add this a loacation for Groove to get it's music from but while it accepts this is doesn;t actualkly find any music even though it's there. Odd thing the old 'Music' app did work after the upgrade to 10 but then seemed to stop after the recent update when I think 'Groove' replaced it.I found this on a MS article: If you have music stored on a network or network access storage (NAS) drive:To use a network drive with the Music app:
The drive must be hosted by a Windows operating system. You must have Windows Search and Desktop Experience features installed. You must enable Indexing for the share. If you have to install or enable these features, you may have to rebuild the index for the share to function correctly with the Music app.I don't know if these options are already enabled or how to check..

I'm about to build my first desktop, and I have a laptop with Windows 10 (upgraded from 7 which it came with). I don't plan on using the laptop anymore, so is it possible to install the laptop's hard drive into the desktop then move the Windows install to an SSD? If not, should I just buy a Win10 key or would it be possible to contact Microsoft about transferring the OS over?

I just upgraded from 7 to 10, and I kept my D drive disconnected until the upgrade was done. Previously the D drive had only what I expected, but now there's a folder called systemprofile which is blocked (although I can choose to see what's there), and there appears to be nothing there.
I ran a search and didn't see anything about this specific problem. I can see that there's supposed to be a systemprofile folder under c:Windowssystem32, but it's not there. And I can't find anything that tells me just what this is.
