Jan 7, 2016It started to happen yesterday, and when I "Right Click -> Properties" in any icon, nothing shows up. I tested with every other right click menu's options and they worked fine.

View 4 RepliesWhen right clicking on taskbar to open properties window it does not show start button tab in Win 10?
View 1 RepliesI tried the powershell command, but it did not work. Is there any quick fixes to this? I'm not ever good with OS related problems! Also, I can't use cortana, so I am guessing this is definitely an OS related problem.
View 1 RepliesI am running Windows 10 on my Acer Aspire Laptop. Today I could not find my control panel at all. When I right click on the start menu where it says control panel, I seem to get a flash and the control panel does not open. I really want it back.
View 11 RepliesI have upgraded Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and I am experiencing those kind of problems. I did some searches and found out that I am not the only one and that we have to wait for a patch. I ran a powershell code without success and there seems to be no other way.
View 2 RepliesTrying to figure this out in Windows 10. I have a file on my system, and windows doesn't yet know what program to open it with. When I right click the file and select "open with", the dialogue is quite different. Now I no longer have the option of selecting a perfectly fine program from my computer and open the file, my only option is to search for a program in Windows Store which turns out to be a dead end. What option is there to associate a program with a file extension in Windows 10, as the on the fly method that always used to work perfectly.
View 5 RepliesRight clicking on a file/folder (On shortcuts it is working) And selecting properties will do nothing.
Having this issue since Windows 10 installation
Laptop Lenovo flex 2.
Additional detail: Well the properties opened once. After half hour I clicked on properties.
Also Cortana wont launch. It takes several clicks to start. And after it starts it is unable to hear me. But screw cortana. I will probably never use it anyway.
Ever since upgrading to the latest build, I have been unable to bridge/ unbridge my connection, nor get into Properties for any selected network adapters. What happens is if right-click on the adapter the task bar goes blank for a brief bit, refreshes, then the control panel/ network and sharing window closes.
View 4 RepliesAfter upgrade from windows 7 everything works properly. After o while it was not possible to open the START MENY by left click the windows 10 icon in the lower left corner. Right click works ok. What is the reason to that?
View 1 RepliesAll the app icons have disappeared from my desktop, as well as task bar and file Explorer. Where the icon should be is just a blank (but clickable) space.
I tried to manually alter the app icon by right clicking and going into properties, but no properties will open!
I've been fighting properties window since I installed window 10... I use this function a lot. The problem is the properties window opens in the background. So I have to minimize all the windows I have open to see the properties window. The weird thing is the properties window is the only one that does that, When I open a new window of anything it opens in the forground. Is there a way to force the properties window open in the forground.
View 5 RepliesOkay, I was following this tutorial ( How to customize the Start list in Windows 10 ) and noticed that I don't even have the, "Start Menu" tab. Is it supposed to be gone? If so. How am I supposed to customize the start list?
View 5 RepliesUpdated my Win 7 Pro x64 computer last night to Windows 10. Now can't click on the start menu items or really any windows menu. Some other random things won't accept a left click either. Chrome seems to respond just fine but not firefox. I'm puzzled. I have a Razer Naga 2014 but tried a Cheap little logitech mouse with same results. I also logged into my machine Via team viewer from work and left click still doesn't work on things.
I'd be totally fine doing a fresh install but not sure of the procedure yet to have it activate without installing windows 7 first then doing the upgrade again.
On the Task Bar and Start Menu Properties screen, my middle tab is 'Navigation'.
Isn't it supposed to be 'Start Menu'???
I tried everything to solve this problem but i can't fix it.
View 4 RepliesHere's a screenshot of "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog from a fresh clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64
As you can see, despite its name, it does not have a tab for "Start Menu". I remember that Preview versions of Windows 10 had a "Start Menu" tab. Did they just remove at the last moment? And how I change Start Menu options without that tab?
I've not got the 'Start Menu' tab in my 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' control panel (right-click on taskbar). I've seen screenshots on the web, but my Win 10 Pro doesn't have. How can I enable?
View 1 RepliesWe use a lot of VPN PPTP Connections. On most we turn off "Use default gateway on remote network". See the image below that shows where this setting is turned off.
We cannot open the properties for Internet Protocol Version 4 on VPN connections under Windows 10. This is located at Network Connections and Properties of a VPN Connection. Networking Tab, then select Internet Protocol Version 4 and click Properties. But under Win 10 the properties dialog does not open.
This has been tested on several Windows 10 systems and we have enabled Administrator and tested under that login as well.
Whats up with the missing text labels? Sometimes its my start menu sometimes its the right click menu.
View 7 RepliesI have just upgraded to Win10 and most items on the "Power User Command Menu" do not work if the menu is accessed by right-clicking the Start Menu button on the Task Bar. The only items that do work are Search, Run, Shut down and Desktop. If the menu is accessed by the other means, the menu items work fine.
I've tried SFC and a day searching the web with no luck.
The computer is a Toshiba laptop running an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5500 with 4 Gb of memory. I don't know what the proper name for the "Power User Command Menu" may be, but that's the only way I've seen it referenced elsewhere.
When I right-click the Start Menu (Win10Pro) and the menu pops up, selecting any of the menu items does not do anything. The menu just closes.I ran sfc /scannow and the log is attached. There are a bunch of errors based on 'duplicate owners' and something about 'opencl.dll' possibly is corrupt at the very end of the log.
I ran a driver uninstaller app found on this forum and then downloaded and installed the recent NVIDIA GeForce drivers for my dual GT640 cards (3 monitors). After rebooting, Geforce indicated a new updated driver and I downloaded and installed that as well. The only menu items that will work when right-clicking Start Menu are the "Run" and "Search" options. Control Panel, Event Viewer, Command Prompt, etc. do nothing. The only way to start these items is to do so via the search box or run box.
I just got Windows 10 installed, and the first problem I'm having is that I can't get the folders in my taskbar to open either by regular click, or by right click and selecting "Open". The exception is File Explorer which works by default clicking the folder icon, or by right clicking the taskbar icon and selecting it either by click or right-click-open. The rest of the folders, ones I pinned and ones that are there as frequent folders, just sit there and do nothing when clicked on. I tried a restart, turned off a lot of the apps that start with my computer, but still not opening files. It's slowing down my work to have to go through the file explorer each time.
View 1 RepliesThe settings window will not open when I click on the icon either in start-up, apps or "This PC" what's the problem is it an installation fault or something I'm not doing correctly? I can access device manager etc. and all the other Icons I've so far tried.
View 3 RepliesRunning a Win 10 laptop. One month old. Fully updated OS. The system is not remembering Sessions when I open up new Tabs. For example, I will sign into Gmail and then go open a New Tab and go to Google, but I am not signed in. Additionally, I will be signed into my university library site and click on a link that is supposed to take me to a report of document and I get an error about not being able to open the page, which is really strange.
I have the settings set in Options -> Privacy -> Advanced to 'Always accept session cookies'. However, when I Reset IE 11 and restart unit and then go there, upon leaving the window, it does not say 'Apply' at the bottom of the main window as if the system didn't recognize I made a change it needs to save when I in fact have made a change by checking the box to allow sessions. I would have thought a reset in IE would have fixed this but it did not.
I also have no Restore point to go back to. I certainly do not want to start all over loading programs after another Windows restoring option like Refresh.
I also have tried searching on the Internet but I do not have the correct language / terms to search effectively.
Is this a common problem? As a last resort, I could send this back to the manufacturer but that would take a lot of time.
windows 10 where you can't open programs or click on the cortana box? Is weird, like, the desktop is all glitched, left click doesnt work on pinned icons in taskbar, also sometimes when I'm in game (left 4 dead 2) the audio goes, I have then to restart the computer to get it working again.
This has started happening since I updated from windows 8.1 to windows 10. I then got my laptop with windows 10 and downloaded the same game (gunbound) as my other computer, since then my laptop had the same problem as my desktop pc. I think is a compatibility issue since when I tried to restore and scanned for damaged programs in the list appeared the game.
can a program that is not compatible with your OS cause glitches in the desktop such as left clicking an icon in the taskbar and nothing happenin? Also, when I turn off the pc during this glitch it doesnt shut off, it just goes black screen. I have to force shut down.
Yesterday, out of the blue, I was no longer able to left click on a folder to open it. If I right click and then choose open, it will open. I get the error message:
I have not made any changes lately and I don't know what could cause this as I have never experienced this on any version of windows. I am running Windows 10 Enterprise on my Dell XPS 8100 with an Intel i5 Processor at 3.20Mhz and 8 GBs of DDR3 RAM, and a 1 TB HDD which is about 1/2 full/empty.
