View 1 RepliesI couldn't fit it all in the title. Basically what I'm trying to ask for is if there is a way to remove the folders from "This PC" so I'm just displaying my hard drives like before. I'd like to keep the folders under quick access, and I would like to keep the folders in general, but they simply do not belong right by the drives under "This PC". I like change, but this one, I do not like at all.
View 9 RepliesHow do I remove "Folders" from Windows Explorer? I use only "Devices and Drives." I see nothing in folder and search options that lets me remove "folders" from Windows Explorer. Is this customization possible?
View 3 RepliesI have noticed that some folder i use have appeared under the quick access list and there does not seem to be a a way of removing them
Folders i have added to this list have a small pin on the right and its easy to unpin them but these folder do not have the pin so how do remove.
How can I remove default folders from libraries? EG "Cameraroll".
View 2 RepliesI actually do use OneDrive, and I am not trying to remove the app entirely. However, it seems like if I remove the OneDrive folder from my libraries (music, pictures, documents), next boot they show right back up.
This is incredibly annoying as I actually want my folders isolated... Documents is my local documents, and only the stuff I want put in the cloud is in OneDrive.
I was wondering/can't figure out if I can hide the desktop library and other things from the file explorer.
View 3 RepliesI'm unable to add new folders in groove music app on my PC. When I click on 'Choose where we look for music', nothing happens. If there is any way to solve this problem or to restore the music app.

Every time i install something the program will ask where to install to an existing folder this is part of install shield. i see a folder named "????:????" well there is no folder named this on the C drive. I can not locate where it is. I have tried the registry and a search but nothing.
View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble opening folder within folders. For example, I can open any folder on my desktop but when I try to access any folders within that folder they show me this message;
For now, I transfer any folders I need to access out onto my desktop. By the way what the pop-up even means....
I am a hardcore Wow player, recently i encountered a problem that wont let me play wow due to my folders not able to being write wow files on my windows 7.
The was a message when ever i tried to run wow and that was "[COLOR=#EFC9A0][FONT=Arial]The CAS system was unable to initialize: Client Handler: initialization error: failed to create storage component"
At first i thought it was wow's problem and looked on battle.net forums but they all said that i must remove read only tag from properties of my wow folder.
I did everything i could on wow's side but nothing, then i tried looking on various windows's error forums and did the take ownership cerficate guide, the attrib -r [path] guide, changing security parameters from properties --> security ---> edit etc.
But nothing worked, as soon as i unchecked the solid square read only option and closed it , it came back like before. So I thought maybe windows 7 wont let me play the game, i bought windows 10 and installed it clean and removed windows 7 completely. and with no surprise the same problem persists. cant remove read only.
Then I read about NTFS being the problem, i have 2 sata harddisks and i formatted one and converted it to FAT system and copied wow folder to that drive. still it wont do anything same problem is there.
I play video games and all my games are saved in my documents as many other steam users but the games cannot load any save data from countless games like skyrim, Arma 3 etc. As soon as I remove the read only attribute from the document folder and apply the settings it does the whole apply to all the sub folders and files crap but as soon as its done I click okay and right after i check the properties again and voila there it is read only is checked and i cannot do jack about it.
View 6 RepliesIs there a wizard around that can give me a .reg file to remove ''Customize this Folder'' from the context menu?
''Customize this Folder'' context menu : techsupport
The documents folder and its subfolders are "read only" which prevents me from storing files in them. I am the administrator and can not remove the "read only attribute." How can I accompiish that? I went to properties for the documents folder and the system appeared to be doing what I wanted, but was not successful.
View 1 RepliesI recently uninstalled Adobe Creative Cloud. Even after uninstalling, a folder named "Creative Cloud Files" remains in the File Explorer. I can't find a way to delete this. How can I remove this folder?
View 1 RepliesIt only happens when I open the Downloads folder from Quick Access and This PC.
I've already checked the Folder Option. Launch folder windows in separate process and Open each folder in its own windows both are unchecked and I also tried everything that I've found, but nothing works
New in Windows 10 the file explorer opens in documents folder no matter which folder is clicked on. Open with in context works ok. Windows 10 is an update of Windows 8.1.
View 4 RepliesI just got my hands on a new UX305 from ASUS and it's working wonderfully. However, I wanted to change the icons for the Desktop, Downloads, Music, etc. folders in Quick access in File Explorer. I was able to do it on my main rig, but there is no customize tab for most of the folders in quick access, and those that do still don't allow me to change the icon.
View 1 RepliesI have the option "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar" off.
However since the last update whenever I either copy or move a file into any folder windows puts that folder under the Recent group in the taskbar.
On Windows 7 start menu you could have a folder such as EA Games and then sub folders within. For example a folder for tiger woods golf, a folder for say Fifa and so on. It seems on Windows 10 you can only have one folder level. I have tried creating sub folders but all the shortcuts within the sub folders all appear under the one top/master folder when actually viewing the start menu. Am I correct in this observation/restriction?

Have combined all screenshots into 1 PDF - else the post would be way too big. never uploaded a PDF before.
My 'documents' folder suddenly got moved into another folder named 'Doctor Web.' Looking into this, I find that Doctor Web is a piece of security software originating in Russia, apparently quite respectable, but it's not something I ever installed. According to its properties, the Doctor Web folder was created in 2014, but it wasn't on my computer two days ago when a backup I ran had no errors. Today, it choked on the new folder. I'm attaching a screen grab to illustrate the situation.
My question is, is there some method by which I can move the 'documents' folder from the 'Doctor Web' folder. put it back where it belongs and delete the 'Doctor Web' folder? I have access to all my documents, but I am not at all happy with them being spontaneously moved like this. Al

View 2 RepliesI tried to take screenshots via the WinKey+PrtSc and the Fn+WinKey+PrtSc method. As expected, the screen briefly dimmed and then reestablished normal illumination as you would expect when taking a screenshot with previous Windows OS-es. (No functionality at all apparent via Ctrl+ WinKey+ PrtSc.) When I went to locate the screenshots in C:Users*****Pictures, there was no "Screenshots" folder. I tried searching for the folder and for the screenshots to no avail (though my search skills are rather novice, so I may have missed some obvious way to locate the missing folder). Screenshots will save to the clipboard through the two operable methods above and can be pasted to Paint. I tried visually searching numerous folders and hidden folders for the screenshots, to no avail.
So, I looked in the registry and found:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer
The ScreenshotIndex DWORD value is "3".In Win8, from what I have found trying to understand and solve this issue, you would also find an expandable string at this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUserShellFolders.It required value data which pointed to the pictures folder (%USERPROFILE%PicturesScreenshots). There was no such expandable string value present in my User Shell Folders location. I never had this problem in Windows 8/8.1 and I realize things may be done very differently in Windows 10, so I didn't add the expandable string that the tutorial I was reading referenced in order to to fix this problem in Windows 8.
I want to remove this shorcuts from... Start - All apps...
