As the title says, I can't set the bg image in windows 10, at first it worked perfectly but after a couple of days i cannot set a bg image, if i set any photo as the bg its just a black bg.

When i upgraded to windows 10 on my toshiba laptop the display changed from black printing on a white background to blue printing on a black background which i can"t read. my old eyes aren't working so well any more and i would like to switch back to the black on white.
View 1 RepliesWhen I go to Settings -> Personalisation -> Background and try to change my wallpaper to one of my own pictures nothing happens. When I choose one of the Windows pictures (that one of the guy running along the beach with those big rocks in the background for example) again, nothing happens. The only thing I can do is change it to another solid colour.
Bizarrely, on my wife's account (we're both Administrators) she can change the wallpaper to whatever she wants.
I'm a photographer and work mostly with black and white images. I took the jump from win7 to win10 today and in setting my wallpaper as "centered" (not fill or stretch etc) I am faced with not being able to choose an appropriate background color to go "behind" the wallpaper.
How can I get a simple black or white background color to go behind / around my wallpaper image. There are plenty reds, purples, greens and blues, but precious few neutrals.
I want to be able to select background color by RGB code or a 24-bit palette.
I would like to know if there is a way to enable rotation of the background wallpaper in win10. It was easy to enable or disable in win 7 but I don't see a button for it in win10.
View 4 RepliesI upgrade to Windows 10 from 7.1 today and everything seems to be working fine, but it won't display any desktop images. Trying to select one of the images in the customization screen or another image using the search option won't result in any changes. Right clicking an image and setting it as background image doesn't work also. I checked the Ease of Access options and it is set to display Windows background.
Solid color backgrounds work correctly. Slide show seems to be not available.

View 9 RepliesI've been trying to make my desktop background be a slideshow of images rather than just 1 image. I want the images to change frequently, so I have it set to change every 1 minute.
However, after setting up the slideshow last night, the same image has remained my background for several hours, not changing once. I've double-checked the folder that is linked for the slideshow, and it does contain more than one image - in fact it contains 18 images.
I've attached a screenshot of the Background Settings screen. How can I get the slideshow to cycle through the images?

View 7 RepliesAt day 1 of the windows 10 release my Secure Logon background was a specified picture, the same picture as my desktop background. Since Windows automatically updated it has been changed to a picture.
How do I get the picture back?
To be clear, I want this specifically for the Secure logon screen (where it shows "Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete" to unlock), not the standard logon screen.

View 6 RepliesI am currently unable to set a lock screen background image (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit). When on the Lock Screen customization window, it is pretty bare with no images to choose from. Browsing and choosing any image results in nothing happening and it does not add it (refer to LockScreen image attached). If I try to set it when viewing any image it has the error "Can't set as lock screen. Make sure the file isn't damaged and try again." (refer to PhotoSet image attached). Also note that the Slideshow option is not in the dropdown either.
Some background on this is probably needed, so here's what has happened/been done:
In Windows 8.1 I customized the default lock screen to a custom image using the guide at [URL] (the manual method/Option 2). Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 10 and it set the lock screen to a basic color. Then the fun started...
1. Lock Screen customization appeared normal/functional. Tried choosing a different image or custom image. It would appear set, but lock screen would not change (even after reboot).
2. Tried troubleshooting by taking the same actions as in Windows 8.1. Did the same actions for the new folders that Windows 10 uses in the %ProgramData%MicrosoftWindowsSystemData folder (deleted the images within the lettered folder(s)).
3. Checked every Registry Key I found mention of when searching online (none needing to be changed).
4. I renamed the SystemData folder as a website recommended. Windows did make a new, fresh copy. However this is what kicked it over to the state I am in now. Restoring the old folder did no good.
5. Before coming here I did one last thing. I ran sfc /scannow. It claimed the img100 was corrupt and replaced it, but nothing changed.
What I can do to restore the functionality of the Lock Screen customization without reinstalling Windows? Note that I am not trying to change the logon screen background...even though I would love to do that too. Other than this issue everything is running great/perfect.
I made a desktop background in 3ds max and its of a robot standing on the moon. The actual image I is about 10k by 6k so I converted it to 1080p because I was having the same problem with the larger image. When I set it as my desktop background it becomes blurry. The stars bleed out whiteness around into the black space. The textures and reflections just look like crap on the desktop image. But on the real image you can zoom in for miles and it is just fine. Why my desktop background looks worse quality than say an image viewer?

View 4 RepliesI just installed Win10 and had everything set up like I wanted. I rebooted and now I have a black desktop. I can see my icons and the taskbar changes colors to the theme I picked. The lock/log screen shows the pic I chose. I have tried everything and I can't get my theme to show on my desktop.

Below is the current issue I am experiencing with Windows 10. My computer has been running normally for days after having installed the software, only while booting today have I been experiencing this issue. I have tried doing restarts and fully turning the computer off, nothing seems to work. Also the hidden files do not normally show up on my desktop.

View 5 RepliesI did a Windows Update 3-4 days ago ever since my desktop background goes black at random. It also goes black if I click a desktop icon or if I use the highlight tool on my mouse. When I was doing the update it got stuck on restarting and I had to force shutdown my computer. I was thinking about using system restore.

I am unsure if I successfully made it back to the desktop after rebooting(my attempt to solve the problem). I have tried searching the Internet for shortcuts that re-enable screen or turn brightness up(my keyboard brightness buttons do not work since I am on Mac and the functions keys are all remapped- holding fn then function is same as just pressing function now too)

But I've noticed that if I need to restart the system I will get the usual Blue screen saying "Restarting", this will then goto a Black screen.
Nothing happens after the black screen, I never see my BIOS image or any text whatsoever (Which I usually see on a normal boot). IF I then press and hold the power button to force shutdown the computer and then press it again it will perform a normal boot, I see the BIOS Image etc.
My mother has a HP Touchsmart 600 that I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Windows 10 works fine on there, once it finally boots up. I've noticed this scenario. Power Button to turn on computerBIOS DisplaysWindows 10 logo displaysscreen goes completely black for a couple of seconds Screen comes back on, stays dark/gray and I can see my mouse pointer and it moves. The boot process hangs here for several minutes, usually and most of the time, the computer doesn't even go past this point.EVENTUALLY, after several minutes, Windows 10 finally gets to the login screen, if it is going to login.
View 6 Replieswhile playing video (using any software media player, movies & tv, internet explorer youtube, google chrome youtube, vlan), all other inactive windows (any other windows) turn blank and white. I have updated video drivers, did not make a difference. I have then uninstalled all video card driver and used only default windows drivers, played video with same result. Therefore, I am sure it is windows. Tonight while trying to watch the bowl games, I typically watch video and browse/study using IE/Chrome. This is pretty typical for me, but the browser windows turning black and white is getting really annoying.
