Dec 16, 2015When I open my metro apps on windows 10, app like Groove, mail, store, most apps don't start. Can't use most of my metro-apps again after installing updates.

View 1 RepliesI use this PowerShell command to remove all modern metro apps from all user accounts:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage
However, it does not remove some apps and I have to remove them manually using:
Remove-AppxPackage Microsoft.Office.OneNote_17.6027.10071.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
So, is there a single command to remove all metro apps at once?
A bit of background info: I have installed Windows 10 about 5 times.
The first 4 it would only work until the first reboot because during the setup phase it would automatically install a faulty driver and on the first available restart my Windows would break and I would have to reinstall to get the laptop working again. However all metro apps worked fine before the first reboot.
The 5th time I switched my internet off and window 10 setup finished without internet. That means the faulty driver didn't automatically get installed so I had a chance to switch off the automatic driver installation. However it also meant Windows 10 didn't get activated during the setup phase. I switched internet on, activated Windows 10. Now my computer works fine but all Metro apps are greyed out and not working. For some of them the application crashes and others give me the error "This app can't open". I tried all obvious solutions
sfc /scannow and the DISM commandReinstalling them using: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}Reinstalling them using PowershellStarting the Application Identity and App Readiness Services and a couple of other random suggestions I saw online. For me nothing has worked. I tried digging deeper and looking at the event logs the error message when trying to open the store is:
Activation of application Microsoft.Getstarted_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App failed with error:
The application cannot be started. Try reinstalling the application to fix the problem. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information.
Looking at the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log:
Activation of the app Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App for the Windows.Launch contract was blocked with error 0x80073CFC because its package is in state: 66.
I have some issues with the metro apps in Win 10. They don't open, and have unusual names. This actually started a couple days ago when my taskbar and start menu wouldn't open. While browsing the web, I saw exact same issue get told to enter a powershell command and he replied saying it fixed it. The command in particular was:
Code:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}
Long story short, It did anything but fix it, and gave it messed up names. I can click and click, but nothing shows up, even for a split second. I've tried to open an app from the .exe inside System32.
I recently installed Windows 10 Home using the iso. It was fine but after sometime, the start and metro apps had stopped working. I thought that re-install would do the trick. So I reformatted C: and installed Windows 10 again hoping it wouldn't come again. But now after two weeks... the exact same thing happened. Start, Action Center, Settings, Search... not working. Tried the powershell command, didn't work. Also I cannot create a new user because the settings app crashes... Start wouldn't come up at all. Metro Apps like Calculator, Store and all, they just simply crash after showing the splash screen for a second. I can't do another reformat...

View 5 RepliesI must be missing something really simple. How do I uninstall a Windows Store app?
View 6 RepliesI recently upgraded to Windows 10 and installed my drivers and updates, but I noticed that my mouse click is not working on any metro interface (including Edge). It is working fine in games and other non-metro softwares. I am using Dragon War ELE-G7 mouse.
View 1 RepliesLast time I checked Win10 it was only possible to postpone installing certain Win updates that W10 found, nothing more. Is it EVER going to be possible on W10 to do as in W7 ... namely install only the Win updates that the user wishes to install?
View 9 RepliesThis application will also provide privacy if you choose that. It can remove All of the Apps permanently if you allow it to. I did not and I made a current image of my system before I used this. Below is an image of the Apps that were left:If you decide to use this, please make a backup before doing so. I also would not suggest using it if you are using Insider Builds.
View 2 RepliesI don't have Metro (Modern) Apps (Fresh Install). How do i get it?
View 3 RepliesIve updated my 8.1 today and now my start menu and indeed any metro apps wont start (ironic). If I create a new user their start menu is ok. I'm trying to revert back to my 8.1 installation but I cant because I cannot get to the revert option as it lives in the metro settings page NOT the standard control panel (why oh why are there two places with differing options, though in this case if it was all metro I couldnt access anything).
I cant revert using the new user as then it tells me I cant revert because I have added a user since upgrading? I cant start anything metro..I cant start anything from the right click start menu..I cant right click in file explorer (which I have to start via win-r) so its hard to get anything running as administrator..its a total fail of an upgrade for me.
I am using Windows 10 for around 2 days now. But today my computer freezed while playing a game, so i restarted my computer and when i logged in, the start menu, notification menu and metro apps would not open anymore.
View 9 RepliesI know it's not possible to move/install metro apps on sd card in win 8.1 but i want to know if it possible in win 10 insider preview. If yes, do i have to move them manually or can i assign the sd card as default install location.
View 2 RepliesRecently I have removed all metro or preinstalled applications on windows 10 with a powershell command. It removed all the extra software I needed but, I realized windows store and calculator are missing. I've search up many solutions on the web but, none have workped. Now, i want to know how I can get them back.
View 1 RepliesI am getting my 3 year old Dell Vostro V131 laptop up and running. I bought Windows 10, installed it and configured everything without too much of a problem - except for this little issue.
Just as the OS installed, the touchpad just allowed me to move the cursor and tap to click - not much of a surprise, as it ran on stock Windows drivers. I got the touchpad drivers for my laptop model from Dell's site (was labeled as a Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 driver, but there was none for 10, so I just used that). The scroll and zoom gestures worked fine in file explorer, MS Office, Skype, Spotify, Chrome, control panel and desktop. However, there is no reaction from Edge, modern/metro apps (like settings, weather) and the start menu!
I'm pretty much stuck right now. Here are the things I tried:
1. Configuring the touchpad in Windows settings - not possible, as the OS doesn't classify my touchpad as a "precision touchpad", and therefore doesn't allow to configure any gestures.
2. Installing a driver from Synaptics' website (obviously with the Dell one uninstalled) - doable, but it doesn't change anything at all; the touchpad is still listed as "PS/2 pointing device" in the device manager, no gestures are available, no driver is listed in "Programs and features", and no icon is to be seen in the app tray.
3. Same as 2, but first uninstalling the generic driver via device manager - not effective, as the driver uninstall requires a restart, and after the restart Windows installs the generic driver back.
What I thought about: This is obviously Microsoft's fault, as only their new, Windows-10-modern-interface-touch-controllable-minimalistic-cool-looking software faces this issue. Could I, by any chance, fool Windows 10 into thinking i have a "precision touchpad"? Registry editing comes to my mind, but I have no clue how to find such an entry if it exists.
Is there a way to shutdown windows 10 without installing updates? I know previous versions of Windows had command line or registry tricks that worked with this. Note the version of Windows 10 I am using is the normal version you get with the free upgrade.
View 8 RepliesI did a fresh install of windows 10 and everything seemed to work fine. After installing updates (mostly windows 10 updates and two nvidia geforce 650 drivers - not sure why there were two of them) my PC does not shut down. Before the updates, I had two options: restart/shutdown; now I have three restart?shutdown/sleep. When I click on restart or shutdown, nothing happens.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to windows 10 a day or so after it was released and now when I go to plug in my laptop to tv via hdmi or when I plug in an old xbox360 wired controller it keeps telling me that it found the updates for the drivers but encountered an error while attempting to install them. It doesn't give me an error code for this. Also when I check the updated center is says it could not install updates and gives me an error: Error 0x8000ffff.
View 10 RepliesThat's just it. This update is bugged and gives me an awful display experience. I installed windows several times to track it down, and I finally did. Now I need a way to not install it. And uninstalling it after it gets installed is not a solution. If it starts bugging my display it'll stay bugged after the install too.
So, how do I stop this update from installing ?
My computer is a Toshiba 64-bit laptop.
I had a job running last night, downloading stuff from the internet. I knew would take approximately 30 hours to run. It ran most of yesterday and I had hopes I would wake up this morning and it would be finished.
Windows 10, in its infinite wisdom, installed updates and restarted my computer during the night. My job was ended and I had to restart it this morning. I can't run anything else that accesses the internet while this is running because it slows this job down too much. So now I have another day or more of not being able to do anything else on the internet.
How can I stop the updating and restarting of my computer? It is my computer, I should have control over that.
Windows 10 keeps installing the ASUS Smart Gesture touchpad driver on my laptop. The driver is garbage and it runs three memory resident processes, which seems rather excessive for a touchpad driver. The default Windows touchpad driver works perfectly well, so I want to use that instead of the ASUS driver. However, if I uninstall the ASUS driver Windows Update quickly reinstalls it.
I disabled automatic driver installation when I installed Windows 10, as you can see here:
Despite that Windows update keeps installing the ASUS Smart Gesture driver.
how I can make it stop?
Windows 10 Pro and I am having an issue with my Touchpad driver, it seems to want to mess up and not move to where I need it to go, so I uninstalled it from the Programs and Features menu, but my issue is it keeps popping back up in Windows Update and installing on its own, I don't want the driver for it as it doesn't function correctly with it installed it works great when its not installed so how can I hide it
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10. I didn't like it. I reverted back to 8.1. Now, every time I turn my laptop on, the Windows Update screen pops up and starts installing Windows 10. I have changed auto update settings to ask me first, but to no avail. I even selected DO NOT check for updates, to no avail. How do I get this to stop?
View 1 RepliesI have my Windows 10 for around 3 days now, the thing is, in the second day after my computer froze when i was playing counter strike, everything in the task bar but my shortcuts stopped working, they dont open anymore, but when i click it, the cursor blue loading circle shows up but nothing happens.
View 1 RepliesI have been trying to install a few Apps from the Store. I installed an App, clicked on it in the menu, and for one second it flashes and the menu disappears. I have checked my account and that's good, checked settings and they look good, but the installed App won't access.
