View 1 RepliesNavigating to Settings > Personalization > Themes > Theme Settings, we get to the Personalization window for Themes same as on Win 7. In the window it states "Click a theme to change the desktop background, color, and sounds all at once."
However, the icons normally at the bottom of the window to change those settings are missing. All I can do is save the theme (right click).
(window capture missing icons)
(these are the icons I'd expect to see)
Is it not possible with Windows10 Build 1024 to change the title bar color, I've been dealing with a white title bar since Windows10 release; or has this not been resolved yet ?
View 2 RepliesWhen I open anything in Windows 10 the program window is a bright blinding white. I tried the Settings and the color option in there but it didn't work, neither did adjusting the brightness. How do you change the color on the program windows?
View 1 RepliesMy mom just upgraded her HP laptop to 10 last night. I was playing around seeing if I like it. I realized stylish from the chrome store doesn't work. Is there a way to change the white background on CHROME AND EDGE to black or atleast to something darker. I already did the reg edit to put the black theme active. Works great. But both my mom and I are getting sick trying to browse the internet. We both use stylish to change the webpage to something that doesn't hurt our eyes. The white background on chrome is literally making both of us sick. Im typing this from my laptop that runs windows 7 because I havent upgraded yet. I tried downloading Invert from chrome store and themes but still nothing.
View 1 RepliesI want to change the title bar color from white, as I have a white desktop.
In win 7 personalization there was an option to change every part of a window individually.
This seems to have gone and the only choice left is for the high contrast options which are awful.
the background for the windows 10 photo app is black, and that is bad for transparent png and gif files. i normally wont use it but the desktop photo viewer is giving trouble is there a way i can change the background color to white?
View 1 RepliesThe advice given (to go to "personalization" and turn "show color on Start, Task bar, action center and title bar" to "on" and pick a color) does not change the background color of the task bar, which remains black regardless of this setting. how can you change the background color of the task bar from black to something that will actually contrast with the icons? Black is a terrible color; some of the icons are barely visible with that setting.
View 9 Replieschanging the stark white background color of the Chrome tab bar? I'm not sure if it's a Windows function or a Chrome function but in Windows 7 I believe it was Windows.
I'm so used to it being either transparent or at the very least borrowing from my current background color as it did in Windows 7 but there seems no way to change it in Windows 10.
If I'm not mistaken, such a change wouldn't/shouldn't require a separate Chrome theme but is rather a simple setting that I'm just unable to find.
A friend of mine who recently upgraded to Windows 10 is legally blind and is struggling with some accessibility options. Here is what we are struggling with: We need to change the font color of desktop icons to black. Certain contrasts are more visible for some impairments and in this case, a yellow background with black bold icon text is the best condition.
What I've tried : Tried high contrast theme / modeTried to modify regedit based on a suggestion for 8.1 here.
Where I've looked : Control Panel - System - Advanced System Settings - Advanced - PerformancePersonalize - Change Desktop IconsPersonalize - ColorsControl Panel - PersonalizationDisplay SettingsThemes - Theme Settings
I was able to get the text black when using the white high contrast mode, but that option won't work. While it does change the icon text to black, it also takes over many other options that deliver a less than desirable contrast for the user. We originally were thinking we could start with the high contrast theme, save as another theme and then systematically roll back the changes we didn't like, leaving the black text. Does not work - when in high contrast mode it effectively locks out your ability to make certain changes.
How do I change the color of the taskbar, and how do I remove the arrows from the desktop icons.
View 2 RepliesI am using Win X Pro. I just noticed that I could not change the desktop background. It says "Some settings are managed by your organisation". I am the only one using this PC and there is no other account. I can change the colours, lock screen and themes.

My colleague has pranked me at work, by somehow fixing my desktop background so that I can't change it.
I'm running W10 32bit home edition.
I've tried gpedit.msc - not available on home version.
I've managed to change it to a solid colour, but i can't change the picture.
How do I change the desktop background slideshow? Or where is the theme pictures settings located? On windows 7 they were on the same page, not so in win 10, they seem to be hidden...
View 3 RepliesI recently did a clean install of Windows 10 which seemed to go well, but for some reason I am unable to change my desktop background, though the normal Personalization options. I can, however, go to the "Solid" option and change it to a different color. Also, if I download a wallpaper it only gives me the option to set it as the lock screen, and not the desktop.
A little background: This is the second PC that I've installed Win 10 on. The first was a newer laptop and I just went with the express upgrade from 8.1 and had no problems. The other laptop (the one I'm asking about) is a little older and I decided to do a clean install from Win 7 using the Windows 10 Media option downloaded to a USB drive. Also, when comparing the two desktops I notice that this second laptop has "WIndows 10 Home" displayed in the lower left hand corner of the desktop (as if it's a different version of Window 10, but when I went to the Win 10 update it says that No updates are required). After thinking that maybe the OS didn't install correctly the first time I went to Recovery and decided to Reset my computer, but that didn't change anything.
After researching this issue, the first thing I checked was the "Ease of Access" Remove Background Images was unchecked. Beyond that, I can't seem to find anything on the web that seems to address this.

I've recently upgraded to Windows 10 and noticed that sometmes when I click with the right button on desktop or somewhere else, a white background appears for a split second before the menu loads. It actually happens frequently.
I recorded the problem. Watch in 0.25x or 0.5x playback to see it clearly: [URL] ....
Sometimes it loads just fine, sometimes not.
My graphics card is GeForce GTX 650 Ti. I've tried to reinstall drivers, but it didn't solve the problem.

View 2 Replieswhile playing video (using any software media player, movies & tv, internet explorer youtube, google chrome youtube, vlan), all other inactive windows (any other windows) turn blank and white. I have updated video drivers, did not make a difference. I have then uninstalled all video card driver and used only default windows drivers, played video with same result. Therefore, I am sure it is windows. Tonight while trying to watch the bowl games, I typically watch video and browse/study using IE/Chrome. This is pretty typical for me, but the browser windows turning black and white is getting really annoying.
View 5 RepliesMy windows 10 Alienware laptop randomly blue screened and its not to shocking seeing, as all our windows 10 computers seem to bluescreen like its going out of style. but I googled the error tag and proceeded to fix it. The error was a Nvidia driver outdated and I then updated.
But I realized my background changed and to my horror was the same background as my primary PC (desktop gaming rig) There are a few ways the laptop and the desktop are connected Steam Geforce etc/Im a little concerned because I'm almost positive I have never once downloaded the same wallpaper on this laptop. and why it would steal my desktops wallpaper and replace it after BSOD I dont understand.
the BSOD was "System Thread Exception Not Handled".Here is the first set of my dxdiag.txt right after the bluescreen. too much text for an upload site

I have moved from FreeBSD to Win 10. The glaring white of the aforementioned objects is really painful to my old eyes. I cannot find references on Google about how to change this. I found one post that alleges this obnoxious color was hard coded. My desired colors for the background is (RGB) 235.235.235.
View 6 RepliesWhen i upgraded to windows 10 on my toshiba laptop the display changed from black printing on a white background to blue printing on a black background which i can"t read. my old eyes aren't working so well any more and i would like to switch back to the black on white.
View 1 RepliesI've done editing the aero.theme in the themes folder. Did exactly what was said in a few websites(trusted). But no matter what it doesn't change the color. Also I tried a freeware to get the dark theme enabled. It did change the color of the settings, network and a few other windows' borders but the explorer's. :'(( Now I'm back to the same old eye-killing bright white borders everywhere. I didn't mess up any system files in the process as I had backups of everything prepared.
