Windows Camera Not Recording Sound In L930 Video - No Way To Configure Surround

Nov 19, 2015

Yesterday updated to 10586 my L930 and, as before, the Windows Camera App doesnt record audio on video shooting. I know my phone is affected by the L930 speakerphone mic problem, but until previous version of Windows Camera, audio was recorded at least in the other channels. No surround settings to manage in 10581/6. But after the last two updates, WinCamera is not recording audio. Cortana Works ok. And I cant install Lumia Camera, because it is just showing a "move to Windows Camera" message. The thing is, I already reported this through Insider Comments, but, I need to film video with audio urgently.

Cannot Configure COM Port

Mar 8, 2016

I am using a new W10 laptop, with newly-installed software for controlling a telescope. This requires a USB-Serial adapter, which I have used successfully with W7 on an earlier machine. Now I cannot configure the COM ports. I get the message "Device (or COM Port) does not exist". I have tried setting the COM port in Device Manager to all numbers from 1 to 15, but with the same results.

Customization :: How To Configure The Start Menu

Aug 27, 2015

I haven't been impressed with configuring the Start Menu so far. I would like to be able to create new groups in the Start Menu, including the fancy tiles and be able to create my own shortcuts in each group.

I looked at the tutorial All apps in Start menu - Add or Remove Items in Windows 10 but this doesn't work as described. I tried creating a group for all users and copying shortcuts to that group but some items are not shown.

I've installed Classic Shell which I've been using in Windows 8. This gives all the features I need and also still lets you use the standard Windows menu giving you the best of both worlds.

Drivers/Hardware :: Windows Misidentifies C Drive As Solid State Drive - Cannot Defrag?

Sep 9, 2015

When I was running Windows 7, my system had a small solid state C drive that did not have enough space for windows 10 upgrade. I got a larger 2TB regular hard disk and used the manufacturer's software to clone the old Windows-7 SSD C drive to the new 2TB and then upgraded to Windows 10.

Now under windows 10, when go into defrag, the C Drive shows as a Solid State drive and of course windows does not want to optimize it.

The new drive definitely is not SSD. I assume somehow that setting was cloned from the old disk.

Is there either a way to change the C drive to a regular "hard disk drive" or force windows to defrag what it thinks is a SSD?

Updating Windows 8.1 PC With SSD Primary Drive And HDD Secondary Drive

Aug 5, 2015

I currently have a PC that is running Windows 8.1. I have a 120GB SSD as the primary drive ( C: ) with the OS and a few programs installed on it. I also have a 750GB HDD ( D: ) installed in the computer. Over the past year and a half, I've installed some programs to the SSD and some to a folder on the HDD. I plan on updating this computer to Windows 10. To do that though, I was planning on wiping the SSD and doing a fresh install to it and just reinstalling any programs. My question is if there will be any issues regarding the programs installed on the HDD. I'm guessing some of them probably still have certain files installed on the SSD and that wiping it will mess up those programs.

I'm also wondering what a good way of installing programs to a secondary drive is for the future. I'd like to install some programs to the secondary drive without worrying about certain files still existing on the SSD while still being able to install some programs to the SSD itself. This way if updating in the future, I wouldn't have to worry about this issue. Let me know if this makes sense and if I need to clarify something.

Will The Drive Install Windows On Become The C Drive By Default

Oct 5, 2015

Basically, I plan to disconnect every other Drive from my computer (my 2nd SSD and the HDD I use for data storage). From there, I'd do a clean install of Windows 10 onto my SSD.

Will that SSD become my C Drive by default (I want it to)? Will is stay that way when I reconnect my other drives provided I continue to boot from my SSD?

How To Put Windows Onto USB Drive From A Disk

Aug 23, 2015

I've looked all over but I can't find a solid way to do it. I also only have a iMac as another computer so I'm not sure if it will affect how to put Windows 10 onto the USB drive. I need the most specific instructions that you can give me.

PC Won't Run Windows Recovery Drive?

Nov 25, 2015

I recently decided to upgrade to a bigger hard drive because my old ones were reeeeallly old and very small and slow. I soon realized the massive challenge I had undertaken because of the fact that I accidentally installed windows on both drives (1 windows, two drives, not 2 windows 2 drives). One of the drives just contained some install info and some recovery information, but windows wont boot without it.

My next step was to just make a recovery drive (my dvd/cd reader is super old and I doesn't work) on a free USB I had and run that so that it would copy all of the missing files over to the one drive after I unplugged the other one. Well here I am having done most of that but my Bios is really sure that I don't have a usb plugged in (I've tried all of the USB ports). I find this strange because I installed windows 7 on this computer with a USB (the same one actually).

I dont think my signature says it but my motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L

After Reset Windows Needs To Repair Drive?

Oct 1, 2015

My friend's 2 day old Toshiba laptop started giving System Thread Exception Not Handled error, and went into a rebooting loop. I researched this on the web, but none of the usual fixes for this issue would work.

I decided to do a Reset, told it not to save any files.

It did the reset, counting up from 1% to 100% over the course of about 30 minutes, then went to a screen that said "scanning and repairing errors". That took about 15 minutes.

After the scanning and repairing, it went to a 3rd screen that only said "Installing Windows Your PC will restart several times". With a large percent counter in the middle that sat at 1% for about 10 minutes, then went to 2% and is sitting there right now, for about 5 minutes. Now it has moved up to 6%, been at that for about 5 minutes now. Below that in small letters it says "installing features and drivers" This seems odd because I thought it was doing that in the first step.

When I've reset computers in the past (those were Win 8) all I remember it doing was the first of these 3 steps, and then it rebooted and was done. Is this behavior normal in Win 10 or is there a problem here that we should consider returning this computer?

Non-Existent Drive In Windows Explorer

Jan 7, 2016

I am running Windows 10 on a Dell Venue Pro 7130 tablet. There is one SSD installed - Local Disc C: However, in Windows Explorer I am seeing a second "drive" - Local Disc F: This appears to have the same size and free space as the C: drive, but when I open it it says it is empty.

I need to use the drive letter "F" for one of my external hard drives, but need to get rid of the phantom F drive first. How I can remove the "drive"?

Need To Clear Drive Before Installing Windows Again?

Nov 26, 2015

The title pretty much sums it. I'm having some issues with my PC, (not bad, resolved easily from just a clean install) and i'm going to use the windows media creation tool to do a fresh install of windows on my drive. Now my PC came with windows 8.1 pre-installed, but since i HAVE upgraded to windows 10 already, it won't download windows 8.1 right? Also, since i already have windows and everything working on this drive, will i need to do a factory restore before using the media creation tool, or does it clear everything on the drive anyway when i use the creation tool?

Windows Cannot Be Installed On Drive 0 Partition 2

So I did a backup of all my important data to an external HDD, so they're all safe. I then tried to make a true clean install following this guide: [URL] ....

Moving Windows OS To New Hard Drive

Installation :: Can't Boot USB Drive With X64 Windows Installer

Aug 22, 2015

Whenever I try to install a 64 bit Windows 10 copy from a flash drive, I get stuck on the 4 blue squares, with no white dots spinning. Then after about 10 seconds the PC restarts. I have tried the official way with the media creation tool, I have tried just downloading the ISO and using a third party bootable USB maker, I have tried ISO's from pirate sites (yes, I know, not the best solution) but none of those worked. Every time I tried a different method I always fully formatted the USB drive. Oddly enough the 32 bit version worked once or twice but even that doesn't work anymore. My PC specs are quite good so I really don't know what's the issue. Btw im running a 120 GB AData SSD and a 1 TB Seagate hard drive.

Installation :: Want To Change Which Drive Windows Is Located On

Jul 29, 2015

I'm sitting on my windows 7 here, ready to upgrade to windows 10 with the "Get Windows" app.

One complication though is that I'm running on an old harddrive. One of those simple SATA disks.

I got my hands on a new SSD disk which I would prefer to have windows on.

So, How could I in the simplest way get windows 10 and have it installed on my new SSD?

Should I upgrade to windows 10 to begin with?
