Sep 14, 2015I have a Toshiba that I wanted to run Windows 10 Pro, the OEM was Home; I have Windows 7 Pro and decided to install that and do the upgrade and then a clean install, I needed to run Legacy Mode to install Windows 7, after the install and upgrade I wanted to change it to UEFI but since that isn't possible to do without doing a clean install or a recovery media device, I can't and don't want to do that.
If I do a clean install of Windows 10 Pro, from a USB and delete all partitions, will Windows 10 activate?
I have done so on my desktop, it has worked, BUT when I did it on my Toshiba after it activated to Windows 10 Home, it failed to activate during the clean install. What are the chances it won't activate this time? The process from Windows 7 to 10 isn't fast and I don't want to have to do that again..

All relevant OS sections Windows 10, WinXToGo, and Windows 8.1 have bootmenupolicy Legacy included Bootim.exe appears 2x in the registry only.
What do I need to do to fix it and for it to stay fixed!

Sep 1, 2015How do I set my BIOS to have the DVD boot and install Windows 10 in UEFI mode? I do see a setting on my Asus motherboard UEFI "CSM Compatability" and in there are three options:
UEFI and Legacy OPROM
Legacy OPROM only
UEFI only
Do I select UEFI only option here?
What is the benefit of installing in UEFI vs Legacy? All I understand is that the system sets up more partitions.
Computer Reboots To Safe Mode After Clean Install
Apr 2, 2016Yesterday my computer froze a number of times. It started off at about 3 minutes post boot up then got subsequently quicker with each restart. It eventually started freezing on the windows logo screen.
After about two windows logo screen freezes it automatically booted into safe mode. At this point I tried Clr CMOS, which had no apparent effect and then I disabled literally every startup program and that still had no effect.
Where I stand now:
- I have backed up all my data to an external drive.
- I have performed a "full reset" of my computer i.e. all personal data, installed apps and settings are wiped and windows reinstalls a clean version of itself.
- The set up of windows worked normally, but once it rebooted itself after set up was finished it automatically booted to safe mode.
I've exported an xml and a text document from speccy ....

Nov 16, 2015I'm having issues with deploying out-of the box windows 10 on a Lenovo B50-80EW preinstalled win 7 pro and upgradable to win 8.1 Pro however since the new windows 10 update build 1511 ISO I download I thought it would go through OK . without have to do first upgrade install to windows 10
Secure BOOT on UEFI ON
From putting the windows 10 ISO in drive it doesn't prompt for activation key. As soon as network settings prompts I press shift/ Contro / F3
Now in administrator Mode I check windows is activated however I have the same model of laptop and I want to mass deploy an image but want to use the OEM key embedded in BIOS to each laptop of this model is this possible to be done as I deployed on another machine and got message saying this key is already in use is there an issue with the new ISO available from Microsoft .
I also tried fresh install with out no ethernet or wireless connected and still get on same machine windows is activated in audit mode on fresh setup.

Aren't the modern tile apps that you can launch straight from the start menu in desktop mode, exactly the same as the ones in tablet mode? Apart from the apps being full screen.
If so, I'm thinking I may as well just stay in desktop mode and launch the apps from the start menu in desktop mode?

Jan 24, 2016New build. From a fresh install of windows 10 i try to install the drver for my IGPU Intel HD 530. each time i do that i get a BSOD with this message:

I've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software. I always get the same behavior:
The screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self. Even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
I've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
I've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
I've tweaked once the tdr delay to 8 second, but didn't work.

I don't plan on using the laptop anymore, so is it possible to install the laptop's hard drive into the desktop then move the Windows install to an SSD? If not, should I just buy a Win10 key or would it be possible to contact Microsoft about transferring the OS over?

Nov 14, 2015My computer is trying to install Update to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586, but can't. It claims there is no system reserved partition, but there is. This computer was upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, and immediately after doing that I installed a Samsung SSD and migrated the system to it using the software that came with the SSD. The migration went well and I've been using Windows 10 for months.
All of a sudden, when trying to do some updates it claims it cannot update the system reserved partition. The partition is there, it's 100MB in size. So I tried booting from the install CD, which I burned to do the upgrade (so I know it's a good disc). My computer recognizes there's a disc in the DVD drive, but no matter how I set the bios boot order it will not boot from the DVD, so I can't do a repair on the SSD.
Can't Install OS / Reboot When Launching Install
Feb 6, 2016I bought the usb version since i don't have an optical drive bay. The problem: I can start the setup, but when i launch the installation my pc suddenly restarts and boots the usb again, so i get back at the 32/64 bit selection screen. This happens when i click "next" after choosing my drive (see included video). The drive i'm using is a Samsung 850 EVO SSD.
I have tried numerous things to fix it including: removing the ram (2x8GB) and putting it back, trying with one ram stick, removing the graphics card and use the integrated graphics card, use different usb ports, use different sata ports, removing the hdd (i can't even start the setup with the hdd plugged in).
I also downloaded Windows 10 from the official website and put it on an other usb stick, the same problem occurs.I even tried with Ubuntu and the same problem happens!! When i launch the installation my pc reboots and the setup restarts!I have made a video showing what happens (win 10): I also made a video that shows my BIOS.Everything looks fine... but it doesn't work!!

Aug 20, 2015Due to there not being an F8 boot command screen any more I had to go into msconfig to change how the computer starts up.. which is now set to safe mode. So I'm in safe mode (on the other computer).. the problem is I cannot figure out how to reset it to start up in normal mode. The 'search windows' box at the bottom will not allow any text to be entered.. unless I can get to msconfig by looking for it in safe mode.. I'm stuck in safe mode. How to get to msconfig in safe mode without typing it in? again the msconfig was changed to have the computer start up in safe mode.. it's now doing it every time.. even after a system restore to 4 days ago.

Dec 2, 2015I have a HP Envy that is only 11 months old. I installed Windows 10 not too long ago and now I am experiencing issues with the sleep mode function. I have tried many other suggestions in power troubleshooter and other "fixes", but nothing is working.
Here's the issue. When my laptop enters sleep mode, I cannot wake it up. The keyboard is unresponsive with the exception of the backlight key. No matter what I do, I cannot wake it and this includes Ctrl + Alt + Delete. The power button remains lit, but the screen remains black and will not wakeup. The only way to fix this is to hard reboot the laptop by holding the power button down until it shuts off and then reboot it.
