I have entered BIOS many times but now I can not. Previously, tapping the delete key or F2 on start up would open BIOS. Now it will not I have tried many times. I have tried from restart as well as from shut down. I wish to change the boot order but am stymied.

If windows can be loaded, I may disable the fast start up, or simple click the Restart, then tap the designated key during next start up.

I've trying to update an Advent netbook to windows 10 from 7. It's been a hassle all the way with hangs on 'checking for updates'. However, I got through that but now it's stuck on 'Get going fast' screen.
I had selected 'use express settings' and now it's stuck on that screen. The mouse still works but nothing happens. I left it on all night. It's still on the 'get going fast' screen.
If I reboot (even remove battery) I get the initial advent boot screen but no bios info. Del, f12, f11, f2 etc do nothing. The blue 'win 10' logo appears briefly then back to the 'get going fast' screen.
I also tried the usb flash drive that had the old os on it but it won't boot from it despite that being the initial boot setting in the bios. Has win 10 bricked my netbook?

I have a Linx 8 tablet running Windows 10, and despite several hours of web/forum trawling I cannot access my BIOS settings to view my boot manager, either through the Settings/Restart method, or in Safe Mode. I can get to a screen that lets me choose between either UEFI Settings or Boot Manager (by holding the power and the volume up buttons together at start up). Selecting the UEFI option takes me to the expected prompt, but choosing Boot Manager just starts Windows as normal. I simply cannot access my Boot Manager; I have disabled Fast Boot.

Today I restored my system from a macrium reflect system image. I went back only 2-3 hours in time. After rebooting, windows started up fine. But the bios reverted to its default settings, although I had previously tweaked it a bit.
What's more, I can't get to the bios menu at all. I mash the delete key at startup, and I just see a blank screen. Even an hour later, just a blank screen.
This happened to me not so long ago, but that time, the bios screen did eventually appear, and with a little patience I was able to tweak the bios again. But this time it is more stubborn.
I also feel that the boot process is slow. I see the asus advert, and it coughs a couple times and drags on until I get to the windows boot menu where I choose if I want windows 10 or macrium reflect recovery environment.
I very often restore from a system image, and every time, it makes a new bios boot entry. I have dozens of boot entries by now in the bios boot menu. Maybe that's causing a problem?
The fan is unusually loud, although cpu usage is low, just 0-2 %
I just bought an ssd. i installed it then windows didn't detect it so i format it and everything now its working. So I decided to go into the bios to make my win10 boot off of the ssd then the hard drive as a secondary then i save and exit and turn my pc off to test the boot. i get a message saying change the boot device and when i kept restarting it it kept popping up. so i had to unplug the sata data on my ssd. not since its connected, win10 will boot off of the hdd. then i notice after i unplug it and turn it on it wont even give me an opportunity to enter the bios windows automatically starts up; there is no logo of my mobo brand with controls on how to enter the bios under it. i still press the button that would let me enter but nothing happens but win10 starts up. so after that i plug in the ssd and now its not detected and it wont let me format it as if its not even installed in my system! NOW I CANT ENTER THE BIOS AND A USELESS BRAND NEW 250GB SSD...

When I move the mouse, the log-in screen appears (as it would when your computer comes out of sleep).I looked at Windows Event Viewer, and this is what I found for my attempt to sleep just a moment ago (Event 10016, DistributedCOM):"The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160} and APPID {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB70 2511 C276} to the user NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool."
I went to these IDs in regedit, and attempted to change their security permissions. I received an error message saying "Unable to save permission changes on {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276}" (or the CLSID).Looking at the above CLSID registry entry more closely, I find that it corresponds to a program called RunTimeBroker.exe. The official Windows website has instructions on how to change the permissions for this program, namely, by opening Component services, going to RunTimeBroker, opening its Properties, and adjusting its Access Permissions in the Security tab.
Some might say, Windows 10 home can be frustrating. Ok!, When my desktop goes to sleep, I have to enter my password on wakeup. I've searched all over the internet...and that includes www.tenforurs.com and printed out some thirty pages on how it can be done, but, no luck.
I have printed how to Make Windows 10 not require a Password on Wake. I went to Power Options in Control Panel, click the "Require a password on wakeup" on the left-hand side. Clicked on... "Change settings that are currently unavailable" link, then click the "Don't require a password " button, and made I saved it.
After the computer goes to sleep and I need to wake it up, it asks for my password. I've tried this at least dozen times in many different way according to some that post how to do it.
I just downloaded my 2015 1040a form, clicked on the icon and the page appeared on my computer screen. However, I'm unable to enter any text. When I click on a box there is a arrow...no cursor. What is causing this to happen?

View 2 RepliesJust updated to the latest build. Windows 10 build 10547. It makes it to the lock screen, and I can slide the picture up, but it won't let me put my PIN in. I can't click any icons in the bottom right corner, and when I do click, the picture is just above my cursor like I am sliding it up again.
View 3 RepliesMy computer is too slow to enter hibernate in Windows 10, it works fine in Win 8.1.
When my PC enter hibernate, the screen turns black quickly, but I see that PC writing to the hiberfil.sys take 2-3 minutes, it's too long, in 8.1 it just takes a few seconds.
EDIT: Tried to disable and enable hibernate, and increase size of hiberfil.sys, and it seem to be faster, about 1 min, but it is still slow compared to 8.1.
Windows 10 was forcing me to enter a password every time the computer booted up. I ran netplwiz, unchecked the box that said password was required, entered my password twice, then I shut down the computer (not just a restart, a complete shutdown). When I turned it back on it didn't ask for a password. But then after it was idle for awhile, when I woke it up it wanted a password again. How do I get rid of that?
View 3 RepliesI don't know if this is just me and my keyboard or if something happened with an update. Normally to open most apps I will just press the windows key on my keyboard and type its name. I updated today, both normal windows updates and the threshold 2 update (build 10586.3), but I think the issue started happening after the normal updates. Anyways, I used to be able to type my program name and press Enter and it would open.
This is no longer the case for certain items. For example, if I type Regedit, it correctly find the Regedit app but if I press Enter nothing happens, but I can click the found entry with my mouse and it opens just fine. I also cannot open a UNC path (ex COMPUTERC$ or C:Users) using the Enter button, but again the mouse works. It seems that if after finding the program it says "Run command" underneath it it doesn't open with Enter, and again neither do paths. I can type Notepad and press Enter and it opens just fine without any issues.

View 3 RepliesI have clean installed windows 10 on my Zenbook (UX31LA) and i have problem with the sleep mode, when i enter sleep mode (either way) my screen turns off and the power led blinks (normal so far), but when i wake the computer up, I see the "Asus" logo and it loads the sign in screen and all my work is gone. it looks like it stats from scratch and it takes about 8 sec (like stat from power off).
View 3 RepliesAnother strange issue with Windows 10, one I thought I had resolved but the problem appears to have come back.
Both accounts on my Surface Pro 3 are now being prompted each login to "Click here to enter most recent credentials", which takes you to accounts and then verifys the accounts identify. It's everytime and it seems to knock everything off. Cortana needs to be setup again and I don't think calendar and outlook work until I've verified the account.
As mentioned I found a resolution which resolved the problem, but it re-appeared again sometime this week so what is the reason for it happening and a permanent resolution. Never had the issue on Windows 8.
Today when I tried to reset my laptop my battery died(I got up to 29% on the reset), because somehow my charger got unplugged. Now when I turn it on I get to the Logo (asus) then get a black screen. (I have tried taking the battery out and pressing the power button for a couple seconds and I got nothing) . I don't know what to do!
How can I enter the "choose an option" screen, the blue one. I can reset there. I chose continue to windows 10 and now i keep getting black screen after logo. is there like hotkeys to press while turning on??
I am trying to set up the synchronisation/backup program that I use on my desktop/laptop which synchronises my files on my university's servers. In order to connect to my network share I first have to connect to the University VPN. I'd like to automate this in the synchronisation program and what to enter in the box (see screenshot). I'm guessing it would be the same as what I'd enter into the Run dialogue to do the same thing.
