Cannot Launch Apps
Jan 30, 2016I can't launch apps such as pes 13, commando: Behind enemy line or again counter strike. Is it only me having these troubles?

Aug 11, 2015I have a weird issue. My mail and calendar app will not launch.
This started happening on Friday 7 August 2015 after the first cumulative update. I am on Windows 10 Home 64 bit. I have a Sony Vaio laptop and my installation is an upgrade from Windows 7 Home.
Out of all my apps it's only these 2. I click on the icon and nothing happens. It won't load and then fail, it just doesn't do anything. Another weird behavior I am noticing is that when I right click the icon for Mail or Calendar (it happens on both) the option to "pin to taskbar" has gone. Pin to start is there. This is the only app this happens on.
The other thing which is happening if in the Event Viewer under "Applications and Services Log/Microsoft/Windows/Apps/Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational" where app launching is logged.....instead of it saying:
The app microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe!microsoft.windowslive.mail was activated for the Windows.Launch contract successfully.
it says:
The app Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy!CortanaUI was activated for the Windows.Launch contract successfully.
I have tried WSRESET, and also "Get-AppxPackage *communi* | Remove-AppXPackage" reboot, and then reinstall Mail and Calendar app.
Modern Apps Do Not Launch Anymore
Mar 20, 2015I installed build 10041 on my PC and since then none of the modern applications start up. I click on them, there is a small flicker and thats it. No modern app launches. I cant even launch the insider app

Nov 25, 2015I've been reluctant to upgrade to W10 because of fear that things already installed will not work. I took the plunge and upgraded W7-pro on my ACER laptop and my fears are true. No previously installed programs installed in W7 launch when I click the link in the Start Menu, including Office.
Additionally, when I click on links to system items, like services or event viewer or run or anything, I get the following message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action..."
On the taskbar there's File Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and an email client. None of the links work when I single or double click on them. NOTHING in the start menu --> all Apps work. I click, nothing happens, not even a message. If I double click the executable in File Explorer, the program runs.
I've run SFC, created a new admin user, tried a clean boot, even reinstalled Office as a test, nothing is working, no change to the functionality. According to W10, all updates are installed.
I'm glad I didn't upgrade, or break, my main PCs by installing W10.
Apps :: Start Menu Buttons Won't Launch
Sep 17, 2015So today my computer stopped running the apps in the start menu. I have reset a few times and nothing worked. Are my drivers out of date or is there a new update i need. Also the HP support assist says i have an update to need to install but when i install it nothing happens and goes back to an update that i need to download.

Sep 8, 2015I'm trying to get a program to autolaunch when I start the computer.
Previously, I used Task Scheduler, but it does not seem to work. I suspect UAC is making this hard for me. I have it set to default.
How can I make a random program run at startup without issues?

Aug 7, 2015Yesterday my Windows Store is working, but can't download or update any apps in Windows Store.
After I turned off the PC for a few of hours then I open up the Windows Store and I get the error..

How To Reinstall Mail - None Of Apps Will Launch From Start Tile Menu
Jun 20, 2015I am running Windows 10 Build 10130 and none of the apps listed above will launch from the start tile menu or the all apps list. It appears that most of the apps that came with Win 10 won't launch but the apps that I pinned to the start menu work fine. Since I rarely used these apps I don't know how long this problem has been going on. I restored back to an earlier restore point but the problem is still there. I know it is something I screwed up but I can't figure it out.

Aug 3, 2015I had an update to windows a few days ago. Now some of the apps are not launching.
The following work as normal: Settings, calculator, paint, hearts deluxe, witcher 3, Machinarium.
Those not working include: Asphalt, flow free, hill climb racing, super golf land - all games from the store.
I have tried reinstalling them but to no avail. When I click on one there is a brief flash and the screen reverts to what it was. I have no problems with other programs installed. I ran SFC - a few errors were found and reported as repaired.
Ran SFC a second time "Windows did not find any integrity violations"
Ran DISM - no problems reported
Ran SFC a final time, no integrity violations.
The problem with apps not loading remains as it was. The only other thing I have done in the last few days is to use disc cleanup to remove unwanted files on C drive, including "Old Windows"
Why Won't Twitter App Launch
Sep 8, 2015InWhen the new Twitter app for Windows 10 was installed several weeks back I installed it on FOUR computers ( I was previously running the old Twitter app). I installed the new update today as well.
It has never worked for me on any of these four computers. The splash screen opens and then the app shuts down. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Nothing works.

Settings Will Not Launch After Upgrade
Jul 30, 2015I upgraded on 7/29 from Windows 8.2 to Windows 10 without any problems. But Settings will not launch. When I left-click the Settings Icon, I get a very brief flash as if something were trying to load, but quickly the monitor screen returns to the desktop and its icons.

Oct 15, 2015I use multiple monitors while at work (As I assume most people do now). One quirk I have seen on Windows 8/8.1 and now Windows 10 is how the start menu launches applications. Now that Windows has start menu access on all monitors is there a way to force the apps to launch on the monitor they are being launched from? For example, I use the start menu on Monitor 3 I would expect the app to launch on Monitor 3 not Monitor 1.

Aug 26, 2015I'd love to map Windows 10's Task View to one of my mouse's buttons, but SetPoint* (the software for my Logitech mouse) does not support WinKey-based keyboard shortcuts, so mapping WinKey+Tab is impossible.
I was wondering if there is any alternative way to launch Task View, for instance:
a cmd command to launch Task View?an executable for Task View somewhere inside the system32 folder or something, which I can create a manual shortcut tomaybe an alternative keyboard shortcut not involving WinKey?
I use SetPoint 6.32 for compatibility reasons, upgrading SetPoint to a new version (which supports Task View out of the box) is not an option because my mouse stops working properly.
App Launch (Restore) Time Got Longer
Mar 27, 2016After updating to Win10 from 8.1 on my Lumia 640 I've noticed that apps now launch or restore slower. For example on 8.1 Skype started in 5-6 seconds. On Win10 it takes about 10 seconds. The same with other applications. The launch/restore time increased by 80%-100%.

Sep 16, 2015Got a new Dell laptop today that came with W10 pre loaded. Have installed dropbox, and spotify and AVG. Rebooted it a couple of times during all this and all seemed fine.
Now when it is switched on it shows the login screen and I enter the microsoft account password. It shows the desktop wallpaper, and the desktop icons, but it does not show the taskbar icons or the clock in the notification area. It shows the mouse pointer, which can be moved with the touchpad, but neither left nor right mouse buttons have any effect. The keyboard is unresponsive (despite working 5 seconds earlier to enter the password) so Alt-F4, Ctrl Alt Del and Windows key have no effect.
If the pointer is moved down to the taskbar it changes from the default arrow to the 'busy' circle, but after leaving it for half an hour or so, there is no progress. The only route I have found out of this is to hold the power button down to force a shutdown. When I power it back on the login screen appears, and I can move the cursor, type etc and everything seems normal. When I enter the password and login, I get the same thing again - wallpaper, desktop icons, but no clock and then no further response.
I got into safe mode and selected 'recover from restore point'. This failed (when did it ever work!?!). The laptop rebooted and then went straight into the initial reload i.e. asked for country, language, keyboard type, etc etc seems I have lost everything.
