View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 several months ago and the Quick Access menu was working normally. A few months back however, all of the pinned items disappeared and I cannot pin anything to the quick access menu either.
I can find and all I have been able to do is temporarily fix the problem by deleting the "5f7b5f1e01b83767.automaticDestinations-ms" file in the C:UsersRobAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsRecentAutomaticDestinations folder.
Deleting this file does bring back the quick access folders that I had pinned before this problem started to happen, but every time I restart my computer, the quick access menu is again empty and nothing can be pinned to it.
I have three entries (among others) that are slated to startup when I logon. Each of them are featured twice in the start up tab of program manager.
On checking with autoruns I found that they occurred twice in the registry under
HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
and
HKLMSOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun 14-12-2015 02:23
Is this normal?
My laptop is running windows 10 64 bit.
My internet worked fine and I didn't do any changes to it up until it stopped working. I've managed to fix the internet access to allow me to access the internet on my laptop through wi-fi but network access still says no internet access. Websites work however ethernet does not work! I can't connect online on my playstation because ethernet doesn't work. I've tried disabling and enabling the ethernet. I checked the cables, I re-installed the drivers and i turned off and on the router more than I could count.
The internet works on my laptop however a connection test on my playstation 3 says obtain ip address succeeded and internet connection failed. So I can't play online. I am absolutely certain the playstation 3 is not fault as I checked vigurously the settings and I've put in the right connections, however it still does not work? Should I buy new cables for the router?
I'm unable to boot the computer. An Automatic Repair screen runs, then a Diagnosing PC screen. The Repair/Diagnosis fails and I end up on a blue screen that says the problem couldn't be diagnosed and provides options to "Restart Computer" (which just leads into the same loop) or "Advanced Options." I hit "Advanced Options", then "Troubleshoot", then another "Advanced Options", then "Startup Settings" (on this screen there are also options for "Reset System", "Restore Previous Build" and others, all of which failed), then "Restart".
It routed back to the same blue screen "Your PC did not start correctly".
I don't have any startup disk. Do not have other pc to download software.
When I tried to reset the PC, was prompted "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made."

View 7 RepliesOnce every day after first start up my pc decides to reboot, and it seems to be quite random at which time it reboots. Can be just when I enter windows or after 20 minutes. Then the power goes back on for a sec and it tries to start but then in an instant reboots again and then it runs fine for the rest of the day. I have not done extensive testing on different components and since I dont get a BSOD I dont really know where to start and since it only happens once a day I can only test one solution every day .
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to disable the on screen keyboard on startup?
I don't need it on my desktops or my Surface pro...
Upgraded to Win 10 a couple of months ago on Toshiba laptop. All was well until about 3 weeks or so ago, after an OS update. Windows will still startup to the desktop however a couple of seconds after the desktop screen appears, the default browser (Firefox in this case but did not matter which one is checked as default - have Edge, Chrome and FireFox) opens to an MSN homepage. Not really a HUGE problem as I can click and close it out but it is just an annoying issue. Have been virtually everywhere in the system and cannot find anything that will stop this. Have checked plugins, searched for malware, looked at task and startup manager and can find nothing that will stop.
View 3 RepliesI'm having a weird issue since i installed windows 10, After installing, drivers, apps, etc., suddenly after using the PC for a few days, after startup apps finish loading and everything, when i try to open any application (browser, explorer, something with uac prompt, anything..) The screen flashes and turns off for a second and then everything come back to normal, This is my 2nd fresh installation for windows 10, I thought there could be something wrong with the drivers, i double checked them, I even replaced all of the apps that i used to have! , spent lots of time to look for alternatives (Avira instead of Kaspersky, 7zip instead of WinRAR, etc.),
View 9 RepliesYes, I have the box checked to play sounds on startup under the sound tab in Control Panel. When I test other sounds on the sound tab they play fine.
I have noticed that Dolby Home Theater v4 did not migrate with the upgrade from Win 7.
Until I did a Windows 10 fresh install my PC was set in the BIOS (and still remains the same) set to startup the PC at a predetermined time everyday. ASROCK H77. And it did so daily until the Windows 10 Pro install. Did the update first to activate. Then fresh install. Like I said BIOS has not changed. Searched internet multiple ways with no resolve.
View 9 RepliesI'm having an odd issue with my new Windows 10 install. The first time I boot up my PC it freezes at the login screen, when you would normally click to bring up the user/password screen. The network icon in the bottom right shows a red x. If I shut down the PC by holding down the power button, and then start it again it works fine. Setting the PC to sleep and starting from there also works fine.
View 6 RepliesI was having some issues with my previous build (Insider), and hard disk crashing, I went and did a full wipe and a clean install.
Unfortunately, some of my programs refuse to add to startup even when the "Start with Windows" option is checked. I've tried completely removing the programs and re-installing and they simply will not start with Windows like they should.
Aside from manually overriding the situation, (which is a workaround, and not a fix), how to resolve this?
Every time I switch on my PC, it goes through a shortened startup (no startup tune, no checking Steam etc) which is very quick. Some time after this, the PC freezes and I have to hold the on/off button to switch off and restart. There is no obvious trigger for the freeze. When it restarts, the sequence is 'normal' and everything is fine until the next time.

View 8 RepliesI did two upgrades - one 10 home x86 and the other 10 home x64 - and they completed without error. The only issue I'm seeing on both of them is I can't re-enable a number of auto-starting items that I disabled before running the upgrade. I used the Ccleaner startup manager to turn them off; now when I run Ccleaner the disabled items show however when I enable them they don't stay enabled. I ran System Configuration (aka Msconfig) and it is showing "selective startup", however changing to "Normal startup" also doesn't stick. I've been able get a few of the apps to auto-start again by toggling their "start with windows" option, but the other apps don't have that setting. Uninstall/reinstall would probably fix them, but I was hoping for a simpler way.

There was a problem starting

I have attached a snapshot of the error messages. How can I sort this out?
A few days ago, my PC (Lenovo PC, AMD A10 processor) was working completely fine. But then, I logged on and found that all my services had been disabled. After changing them all back to "Automatic", every time I woke my PC up from Sleep mode, it gave me the BSOD (error: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED). Recently, and more worryingly, it now sometimes takes me to the same BSOD on startup, just atfer I have logged on.
(It's my only PC, so it's quite urgent as it constantly disrupts my work)

View 10 RepliesI recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. At first everything was working fairly smoothly; however, just recently, my startup programs are not starting up when I turn on my computer. Certain programs that are Enabled in my Startup menu are OneDrive, Google Drive, Growl, etc.
I have a Lenovo Ideapad U410.
Used to be able to do this in Win 7 by putting the shortcut in the startup folder. How is this done in Win 10
