Cannot Drag Files To New Position
Oct 12, 2015When I'm inside a folder and want to manually rearrange something to a different spot, I can't do this. There's not even an option in the right-click context menu to move it.

View 2 RepliesWhen dragging files in win 10 the icon is so big that u can not see where u r dragging to.Is there a way to turn this feature off ?
IN THE SCREEN CAPTURE WHEN I DRAG A FILE THIS ICON GOES WITH THE DRAGGING FILE AND MAKE IT HARD TO SEE WHERE YOU ARE DROPPING IT. CAN IT BE CHANGED TO HIDDEN OR SOMETHING>?
I just cant drag things from the desktop to any folders. I have to cut and past it....
View 9 RepliesEver since i've updated to Windows 10 i've been having an issue with permissions which im unable to fix.
Basically all of my software and files located on a non-system harddrive appear to be restricted in one way or another despite the fact that i've manually set all of the permissions and made myself an owner of all files.
Here are the examples of issues i've experienced:
1) I can't run any software i've installed on that hard drive unless im running it as administrator. This includes GOM player, Adobe Photoshop, Filezilla and other applications.
2) I can't drag and drop files from that hard drive to installed applications like GOM player or Adobe - it just won't let me.
3) I couldn't use archives and drag and drop files from and to archives without a warning about "harmful files" popping up constantly until i installed winrar on a system disk.
4) Some files gotten locked if they were downloaded using utorrent or any other application which downloads files. I think i was able to fix that by editing permissions and security settings in gpedit.msc and explorer though.

If i installed the software on a system drive - i can drag and drop files (movies, photos, etc) just fine when i need to play something in VLC or edit files in Photoshop.

Is there a reason why this keeps happening?
I have some folders with 100s of gb I want to move them to on other folder in same drive if I copy and paste it will take hours but does moving by hold and drag safe for windows and does not cause any damage to windows or registry and how it can move big files in seconds by hold and drag while copy and paste take hours.
why if I copy and paste it will take long time to copy 100 gb while hold and drag takes only seconds.
when i open "My PC" or any folder in my desktop windows 10 remembers if i resize it, but always randomize the position a bit lower.
View 1 RepliesIn every version of Windows 10 I have used, including the most recent official build (and unlike every previous Windows including XP, Vista, 7, 8, etc...) my window positions on the desktop are not remembered (sticky) each time I close the window. Meaning that each time I open a window I have to either re-position it or adapt to wherever Windows has chosen to place it.
View 9 RepliesAfter an update and at other times I find when I boot up the tiles in the start menu have moved to a different position from where I had set them. I try to keep the tiles for those programmes and folders I use most at the top for easy access.
Is there a way of stopping windows 10 from re-arranging them into a different order?
What I mean is when I use photo viewer (or any program it seems) to view pictures in a folder and I then press left or right to change the displayed picture, it changes it based on the name of the file. I want it to change based on the position of the file in the folder because I like to have my photos organized by creation date. As it is now when I try to use a photo viewer it jumps around the files in the folder and is highly annoying when I'm trying to view them by order of position.
View 2 RepliesI have a third party wallpaper changer that I like, but when I updated to Win 10 every change comes out as centered, with a boarder. No matter how many times I change it to "fill" next changes to "centered". I have plated with the settings in the program but nothing works. The program is Wallpaper Master. if there is a way to set the fit in windows to default to fit instead of center.

i want change position Toast Notifications Windows from Bottom to Top.
Whenever I open a folder and position it on desktop whereI want it to be, after closing and reopening it again, it repositions. With a few opening-closings I realized that every time I open the folder anew, it gets repositioned a bit lower, diagonally. This wasn't happening on Windows 8.1. Is there any way to keep the folder in the same position every time I open it?
View 9 RepliesI have a secondary screen set up for movies or whatever while I play games and other things, there is a problem with dragging any program screen over to the secondary screen. For some reason when I try to drag it over it will just get stuck on the side of the screen and go half or quarter screen rather than breaking through to the other side. Is there a way for me to make it so I can still half and quarter screen but if I keep on pushing it, it will go on through to the second screen? or just make it so I can bring it to the second screen without the snapping?
View 9 RepliesI've just got a new laptop with Windows 10. I've managed to add some icons to the desktop (during installation), but I want to add more for quick use. I'm trying to add Windows Media Player (example). I open start, find WMP, click and hold, and drag onto desktop. However, there's an error sign and it will not transfer the icon to the desktop.
Image shows what I'm talking about. There's an error symbol and I cannot add WMP to my desktop at all. I had the same issue with my Gimp icon, but that added itself to my desktop when I downloaded a newer version. It also will not let me add MS Word to my desktop either, by dragging from the start menu. There's also no right-click option to "create desktop shortcut" like there was in previous Windows versions either. I've even tried pinning WMP to the start menu (in old versions this added it to a list near the top but pinning it doesn't seam to put it anywhere on the start bar at all?)
Until yesterday everything was working fine. This night I shutdown my computer and this morning, when I started it up, I noticed the icons of my dekstop in the default location and with the default dimensions.
I repositioned them , I changed icon dimensions again but if I sign out/sign in , restart , shutdown/startup the computer , all my desktop icons go back to default position and default dimension.
I'm liking 10 the more I use it. However there are a few problems Microsoft has to deal with. In 7 it was easy to copy a program to the desktop. In 10 I've tried for a few hours and I can't seem to copy a program to desktop. In fact when I find a program I want to save to desktop, I can't do it. Is there a pro that knows the method?
View 9 RepliesAfter doing an upgrade from Win 7 to 10, I find that the drag & drop function isn't working. I've tried the fixes found here and on several other forums but no joy. I got the download from MS which also loaded the install files on a thumb drive. I then installed using the "save my files(upgrade)"settings.
View 9 RepliesWindows 10 doesn't seem to allow drag and dropping within the Start Menu... As a result, I can't place anything there which doesn't include a "Pin to Start" option upon right click.
I'm also unable to drag/drop onto existing Start Menu items (see attached). Is there a registry hack to correct this ...
Why can I not drag my icons about my laptop? I am currently installing things for my nephews computer. His is a Lenovo, and does it no bother at all. I noticed Windows photo viewer is not on his computer though.

View 3 Replieswhen I try to move an icon on desktop using "drag & drop" , I get a black circle with a slash on it and it won't move. I have two computers using W10 and this occurs on only one of them.
View 2 RepliesIt's a minor annoyance but once every 5-10 tries the mouse will fail to grab a program or explorer window when it should be dragging it across the screen. I'm positive it's not an issue with my wired mouse because I never had problems before Windows 10. Just to make sure I used the mouse to drag files and folders around over 100 times with perfect accuracy, so it's definately something funky related to just the title bar of any program.
View 5 RepliesNormally, if I have notepad open, I would be able to click and drag an appropriate file into notepad, like a txt file, and it would open in notepad. Now, when I click and drag files into notepad, nothing happens.
View 9 RepliesI'm used to drag & drop pictures when I have to insert them inline in a mail, or in a FB post or in Twitter. With Windows 10 I cannot! AS you can see here, my dragged picture cannot be dropped down in Gmail.
It's really difficult having to push through folders to get the photo instead of drag there in a second.
