View 6 RepliesI have an Acer Aspire V5-573G, recently upgraded to Windows 10 a few weeks ago. Was using my laptop this morning just fine but tonight when I turned it on, I get to the password log in and I can't type in my password.
I can still move the cursor around the screen and go back to the screen displaying the time/date before the password log in screen. I just can't type in my password! Nothing happens.
Also the little icons in the bottom right corner are dull, the clock symbol and the power symbol, although the wifi symbol is highlighted as it's connected. I've unplugged all external hard drives and even turned off my wifi.
Just wondering if this is normal behaviour for windows 10 does not happen all the time just once in a while. I get a little popup like the one when you have a display driver crash. asking to verify user and brings up box to put pin or password in. is this normal
View 4 RepliesPrior to upgrading to win 10 I was able to log in to my desktop pc and my laptop using my Microsoft account details , after upgrading I was still able to for a while , one day I tried to log in to my desktop pc and got wrong username or password message , but I am still able to log in on my laptop using these details , after several attempts and no success , I changed the password but the result was the same , I can also log in to my Microsoft account online ( on my laptop ) I have been in touch with Microsoft help but they say its windows problem , haven't been able to get into my desktop pc for the past three weeks , I have thought of removing the desktop pc from the account , but am unsure if that would work to get in to the pc or cause me further problems.
View 2 RepliesI tried that Windows 10 registry fix, and my laptop no longer recognizes my password. It keeps saying my password is incorrect. I got the update error on both of my laptops, but I tried the registry fix on an older laptop before I tried to fix it on my main laptop. My laptop starts fine and I get to the log in screen okay, but my password is no longer being recognized as correct. Did I destroy my laptop? I followed the directions exactly.
View 6 RepliesAs you all know some people use dial up connection. I am one of them. I would like to click my dialup and automatically connect rather than viewing the " Username and password window " as I have saved UN and PW anyway, Basically, I would like to make it fully automatic, now this is the problem as can be seen in the ATTACHMENT.
It shows, lack of options in windows 10 when it comes to tweaking options for dialup. So, how to do it without GUI. As I downloaded and install the same file to install my dialer, I know there has to be a way to " Remove the tickmark from highlighted fields in the above pic.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, it seems I can't login with a local account. When we install Windows 7, it create a local account with administrative privileges. Usually I name that account LocalAdmin.
I was trying to to the same with Windows 10. I created a local account with the Computer Management MMC Console, named it LocalAdmin and put it in Administrators group.
At the logon screen, I click on "Other user", I enter the username this way MachineNameLocalAdmin and the password.
Everytime Windows 10 throw the error : "The username or password is incorrect. Try again."
How come we can't log on locally anymore???!
I recently downloaded windows 10 onto my ACER laptop, however when I turn my laptop on and sign in, my screen keeps turning on and off over and over again, I've tried turning it off and restarting it. I'm not sure what's going on.
View 1 RepliesI have a problem with my Acer Aspire 5943G. I just upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium OA to Windows 10 Home, and then updated Windows 10 until there were no updates showing. A couple problems appeared which I was able to fix but not a particular one; When I startup the laptop it all goes smoothly but when it gets to the login screen (clock with the background), my screen's backlight suddenly turns off.
I can still see the faint screen info if I shine a bright light in it. If I restart it, it fixes the problem though. This is rather frustrating as I cannot expect when it will happen (right now it happened when I turned it on from hibernation, sometimes it happens with a normal shutdown and startup). My GPU is ATI mobility radeon HD 5650. Also having a sound issue. I can get the sound to work through headphones, but not through the speakers.
Ok so i am furious with Micro$oft now! the other day i was FORCED to change my microsoft account after much nagging i did so and i dont like changing logins too much. (this was a week ago)
now for some random reason on earth without my permission my windows login also changed login passwords to the microsoft account. I DONT WANT THAT! that password is too long and complicated for someone who locks his computer every 5 minutes or so. why did this just kick in now? i changed M$ account pass over a week ago and today it decides to change windows login?! can i change JUST my local windows login separate from microsoft login?
if i try to change pass from settings it it goes online and says you cant use password that has been used before.
My Laptop will not sleep. It's an Acer Aspire 5250 Series Laptop. Below is the screenshot of the issues that I have ran and found from Command Prompt.
View 9 RepliesI have an Acer Aspire laptop that used to have Bluetooth on it. I just recently noticed that all evidence of Bluetooth has disappeared from the OS. The Bluetooth module that I am using is:
Bluetooth 4.0 + HS, the two drivers listed on the support portal for my model number are an Atheros Wifi/BT combo and a Broadcom. I can't tell since there since the OS doesn't see it.
First thing I tried is to download and install both drivers from the manufacture's site (Acer Support). Both installers did not detect the BT module being present and ended prematurely.
Black screen and stuck cursor after upgrading to windows 10 on my acer laptop, I've tried all other forums and nothing has worked ...
View 1 RepliesWould like to log in on the computer start up without using password.
View 1 RepliesComputer is in my house. Win 10 forced a login & forced me to create a password on it's 1st update. MY wife uses the computer also & she;s not very computer-savvy. I could require no password on Win 7, why did it do that without asking? How can I remove it.

View 9 RepliesI installed Windows 10 on my laptop and now it's asking me to enter a password to get in. How can I get rid of this screen so that I can get into my laptop. It's not taking my password
View 1 RepliesAfter altering some of my account settings i now find my password is now not recognised. I know the password is correct. Unfortunately i didn't make a password recovery disc. There are no other options on the login screen i am completely locked out. Surely there must be some way of getting back in short of re-installing.
View 7 RepliesI'm having troubles disabling the password that is required at startup. With my previous laptop(also Windows 10) the 'netplwiz' trick worked, but now it does not (screenshot 1). Another strange thing is that I always have to choose between two user accounts while I only have 1 user account (screenshot 2). I suspect that one account is a Microsoft account en the other one a local account.

I wanted to log in with out a password. So I set the user account to go on with out a password. There is only one user account on this computer
When I rebooted the computer the message was that the name or password was wrong.
The screen showed two boxes in the lower left hand of the display. The lower had the name of John-0000 and the top box had the name of John.
When I click on the lower box it asks for a name and password
When I click on the top box it asks for a password.
I do not know how to change it back to the original.

How do I set it up to login automatically?
I renamed my PC and now a (new?) account looks like it's been made. Upon logging in I'm told the password is incorrect. But when clicking OK I get this screen and notice my PC is trying to log in to another account, which appears to be the same account but it's not as it requires a different password (which I have not set up) and I do not know it!
My usual log in is my Microsoft account, where I don't need to put in a password it will just sign me in no problems as shown in the image below, it is not ticked. I can't find this second account that has appeared out of no where. Therefore I cant delete it and stop it from automatically signing in!
Basically how do I remove this user so my Microsoft account is the default login, and will log me in without being prompted for a password?Update 16:11PMBelow is the image I found the user "Katie" under System properties (this is where I renamed my computer) but I have no option to delete it.
When the win 10 login screen comes up, clicking on the password box does nothing and the password cannot be entered. What do I do?

View 1 RepliesMy father upgraded his Acer Aspire laptop to Windows 10 last week and now his login password is not working. I don't know if he had to put in a password to do the upgrade or if he miss-typed it. How to reset it or find the one he needs?
View 11 RepliesSo I have Windows 10 and want to get rid of the password protected login feature. I found some steps on this site which are vaguely "On your windows 10 Start menu window, right click at the Win logo > select Run option > in the Run box type netplwiz > OK > follow the prompts. Restart Win 10."
Did that. On restart, I didn't need a password. Naturally, I thought the problem was solved. Nope. When the computer goes to sleep, I need to enter a password to re-open it; when it is turned off or restarted, I don't need a password.
