Aug 13, 2015Just upgraded from windows 7 pro to windows 10 Pro.
The upgrade appears to have gone well except for the error which I will describe below.
The symptoms: When attempting to install any software which requires administrator privileges, I am getting one of two errors.
More specifically, I was attempting to install "Speccy" to get more information about my hardware. I double clicked the installer and immediately received the following error: [URL] ....
I attempted a reboot, and then after that, I did a disk cleanup and basically checked everything including the previous versions of windows. Then I rebooted again and have still received the same error.
Now when attempting to install some other software I have either received the error I show above, OR I will sometimes get the following error: [URL] ....
I have done a bunch of googling and have found zero information about those errors or how to fix them, besides "reinstall windows" ...
I REALLY don't want to re-install windows, and would like to fix this problem without wiping out my current installation.

Why Unable To Open Images In Photos App / Force Closes - File System Error (-2145042388)

Oct 9, 2015I have been facing the File System error (-2143326205) ever since I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
Error description: All Windows Store Apps (Metro/modern/whatever they are called now) crash when I am not online. The Photos app is by far the only app that has given me an error dialog box. I can assume that all apps are crashing for the same reason because all of them start working again when I get back online.
I am not a great fan of these modern apps and the user interface clutter caused by them and hardly use them. But there are some games like Minesweeper that I want to play when I am on the go. I dunno why Microsoft even made calc a modern app (can't even multiply big numbers when not connected).
So far, I have not been able to find a proper solution to this problem. I guess it is a problem in Windows 10 itself and it will take a while for Microsoft to set it right. But I have an idea. Is there any software that creates a fake internet adapter that is always connected to the internet so that the apps think that I am online and don't crash? Is there an actual working solution?

The Windows 10 usb drive will autorun Windows setup, I can choose languages then when I click next a message appears "setup is starting" then the error message pops up.

Apps :: Calendar App And ICloud System Error?
Aug 20, 2015so windows 10 is running fine on my machine, the only problem i am having is with the calendar app.
I login to windows with my microsoft account with email njamont , i also use the same email address for icloud.
Now when adding the icloud account to the app i used my login which i use for icloud.com
It accepts but when it tries to sync my calendar i get the following error: System Error can't fetch calendars.

Feb 2, 2016I can't get the Mail app to work, despite making an Outlook account (rather than my usual Yahoo! account) and several hours searching the web. I've put the error message in quote marks as I can't even seem to find that specific message on the web anywhere, just "Cannot" get mail.
I've tried removing all reference to the user on the PC, removing and re-installing the Mail app and nothing seems to work.
Cannot Make System Image - VSS Error 12289
Mar 10, 2015Whenever I try to create a system image or run recimg I get error 12289 and the backup fails. System protection is turned on and maximum space used is set to 20%. I have no third party backup software installed and this is a real not virtual machine.

Error System Thread Exception Not Handled
Aug 7, 2015Downloaded the free Windows 10 upgrade on computer running Windows 7. Am now stuck in the above error loop. I have read the answer that requires a reboot disc and of course do not have one. I've tried reset with no success, and various troubleshooting options with likewise. Don't know much about computers, how to get back to windows 7? The system restore and go back to previous build options don't work either.

Dec 22, 2015I kept getting encouragements from Microsoft and IT guys to upgrade to Windows 10. Unfortunately, I did not check with Dell whether they recommend the upgrade. It turns out that Dell does not recommend my model (XPS 8500) to be upgraded to Windows 10.
I went through the upgrade 2 days ago and yesterday I ended up with "System Thread Exception Not Handled" error. One of the solutions for resolving this error, after much googling, is to download Win 10 drivers from Dell. Well, that's how I found that Dell doesn't recommend it. There are no drivers. Here's exactly what Dell says:
Product not tested for Windows 10 upgrade.Dell is not testing or developing Windows 10 drivers for this product. If you choose to upgrade, some features, applications, and connected devices may not work as expected.I' stuck in a loop with this error message and can't load. How would I undo the upgrade? I get the feeling if I choose to stay with Win 10, I would be beset by a slew of compatibility issues which I would rather not encounter.
