Nov 18, 2015I used the Compatibility Troubleshooter and now I cannot select a compatibility mode manually or turn it off completely. Those options are grayed out.

View 1 RepliesI have Tune-up Utilities, and it has programs that run while computer is idle. When they start to run, I get a popup notification that OneClickStarter is running in Compatibility Mode. So I checked ALL the exe's for Tuneup and all of them have Run In Compatibility Mode UNCHECKED, including Change Settings For All Users. I'm getting tired of having to confirm it every time it wants to run in the background. Is it possible to turn off Compatibility Mode completely?
View 13 RepliesI have an old XP program, xReminder Pro, that I have been using for many years. I am currently running it in Compatibility Mode on Windows 7 and it runs fine. On my Windows 10 test machine, this program will install and run from a "manual" start in Compatibility Mode (Windows XP SP3); but will not auto-start with Windows. I have tried the normal start with the program preferences, adding it to the Startup, and running a bat file right after boot up. None of these work. I have set the program to "Run as Administrator".

View 3 RepliesWhen in full blown tablet mode (physical type cover completely removed), sometimes I want to initiate the on-screen keyboard to popup, but there is no keyboard icon in the "systray" area. But I can see the keyboard icon in the systray area when I'm in desktop mode.
Is there a way I can have the keyboard icon visible/accessible from within tablet mode??
I have an Acer Iconia Tab W500 running Windows 10 Pro. Everything works perfectly except Windows does not exit tablet mode when the USB keyboard is attached. Is there a method for selecting a device that can switch the PC back into normal mode?
View 4 RepliesI have, so far (my PC was upgraded to Windows 10 two days ago), found two applications that don't appear to be compatible but weren't flagged ahead of time. These are AnvSoft Any Video Converter Ultimate and Samsung Kies 3. I'm guessing I'll find more as time goes on.
View 4 RepliesI have the "Sonic Studio DLA" uninstall issue and have done every trick I can find. One time I hid the Uninstall and continue button and it magically went on to install Windows 10 successfully! However the one issue I had was the bluetooth driver was missing so I went to install one from Toshiba site (Satellite L775) and it caused an error condition so I wanted to back it out but it was 2 am and I was tired so I tried the go to previous build option - expecting it to go to previous restore point of when it was first installed but no - It went back to Windows 7 and I am stuck at "uninstall Sonic Studio DLA" message again. Wife is happy because she wasn't that excited about learning Win 10 but I would prefer to have it upgraded anyway and she balks at the clean install. So I know Windows 10 works and message is not accurate , so how do I bypass it? Will a quiet install or unattended with answers bypass it?
View 2 RepliesEvery time that I start up my laptop and load up my desktop, Compatibility Assistant gives me the exact same reminders every time. What do I need to do to stop this constant notification every time that I start up my system?
Notifications:

Lenovo VeriFace was removed from your PC because it doesn't work on this version of Windows.

Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio was removed from your PC because it doesn't work on this version of Windows.
The action center informed me that CCleaner was not compatible and was removed. Every time the PC is booted, it repeats that message. I have tried removing every trace of CCleaner I can find but it still repeats the message at boot.
I don't want to turn off notifications, only stop it from telling me CCleaner was removed!
I've found two sites (so far) that have scrolling compatibility issues with Edge. Musician's Friend: Musical Instruments Store is one and the other is the Cakewalk/Sonar forum [URL] ...
In either site, I can scroll (vertically) through front pages without problems. But, when I get into individual threads, for example, and try to scroll though them, either scrolling slows down to very slow or stops.
It would seem to be a setting in Edge, as I have another desktop (my recording studio backup system) with the same version of Win 10 (Pro 64 bit) and it does not do it in that system.
I've reset, to default, all the settings I could find in Edge.
Is there an application that will check the compatibility of all existing hardware and software in my Win 7 Home PC before I begin an upgrade to Win 10?
View 5 RepliesMy HP Pavilion all-in-one computer does not recognize my Seagate external hard drive after I installed Windows 10. Everything worked well with the Windows 8 but neither system will recognize the other once I upgraded to Windows 10.
View 2 RepliesI have a notebook with nVidia 860m video card. There is GeForce Experience preinstalled and it recommends to update driver. Problem is: Win 10 does not recognize 860m after rebooting my system when I install nVidia's fresh drivers. I don't understand that sort of problem because I always updated drivers on win 8.1 without any problem, win 10 is updated regularly. So if I am interested to install recommended updates, is there a way to understand will it work or not after reboot without actual install? I tried to installed drives via devices manager, it is installed without any problems but does not work after reboot.
View 9 RepliesI have an app which refuses to start and I cannot delete it from the Windows Start Screen (the option when I right click the icon isn't there). Is there a way I can manually remove it so I can reload it from the App store?I've tried going into the registry and deleting all references but some of them are locked.
View 1 RepliesAs my desktop PC (like a lot of I suspect other PC's) doesn't have built in GPS, it means that whenever Windows 10 tries to automatically determine where am I (for example, when I'm looking at the built in map client, or Cortana is finding something nearby) it actually thinks I'm around 70 miles away.
Is there any way to manually set my actual location more accurately in Windows 10?
I'd like to perform a manual revert to Windows 7.An elderly client accidentally upgraded what I believe was Windows 7 Home to Windows 10. This was within the last week, and Windows.OLD is still there, but “Go back to Windows 7” is not an option.
(Yes, he was the only user, and he was an admin. For some reason, Windows 10 says it's the Pro edition now. I don't know why. I don't understand why “Go back to Windows 7” isn't present. Client doesn't know what he did, nor what options he selected along the way. Yes, a clean reinstall could be done, but returning to the old setup saves about four hours of other reinstalls and setups.)
Microsoft has a KB971760 "How to restore a Windows 7-based computer to a previous Windows installation by using the Windows.old folder".I'd like to confirm that this same process would work from Windows 10 to Windows 7.
Is there a way to manually check for new mail in windows 10 mail? There is no send/receive button as in all other mail programs.
View 3 RepliesYesterday 100% Win 10 update files were downloaded around 1 PM. Automatic updates are scheduled at daily 3 PM. I got a notification in action center that "Windows Update will be installed automatically at scheduled time." Still after a day nothing has happened. Even today at 3 PM nothing happened. 'Windows 10' app says that "OK, notify me when ready." There's $Windows.~BT folder having size of 4.4 GB on C drive. I'm using Windows 7 SP1 32-bit.

View 1 RepliesSo, I am Running Windows 10 Home, and I was browsing the store as usual, but I was trying to figure out how to turn down the music volume when I was testing the sound bit rate of it, is there a way to do that? Or is it just stuck at default sound? Also, is it possible to add my own Windows Store Music to my iPad? As I would love to have it whilst I'm walking through town.
View 4 RepliesI was just creating a folder on my C drive (SSD) when I noticed that the attribute is set to read-only. I've tried clearing the attribute many ways using the link below but to no avail. Right-clicking on the folder does not show the option to Take Ownership. how to correct it?
Remove read-only attribute from folder - Windows 8.1
I am unable to download *.xap files from store as Microsoft has changed the store layout. Previously. Before the Launch of Windows-phone 10, it worked for me.
View 1 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 (upgraded from 7 a month or so ago) on an HP Pavilion g6 laptop. My computer suddenly stopped being able to connect to the internet a few hrs ago and now no website opens in any browser. Torrents work fine, surprisingly.
Troubleshooting gives me this "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource is not responding" ... I tried the flushdns, registerdns, ... routine but it doesn't work. Switching the router off and on again didn't work either.
When I try to change the DNS manually in advanced adapter options, on selecting 'validate upon exit' and closing the window, I get this message "Unexpected condition occurred. Not all of the changes could be made".
Upon googling I noticed on some forums people were pointing fingers at Virtualbox Bridged Networking Driver and VMWare Bridge Protocol. I can see these in the Properties window, but upon trying to uninstall these, I get another error 0x8007007E
I have uninstalled VMware, but the damn protocol is still there. I'm not sure if that is really what is preventing me from making changes to the Network's properties like DNS and IP ...
Suppose I install Win10 but skip the stage that says logging into a microsoft account.I'd like to know what that option does. Does it open the Edge browser and go to www.bing.com and log in there?Does it log into multiple websites? If so, which? Does it log any particular programs in? Suppose I skip that stage, then how would I manually do what that stage would do automatically?
View 9 Replieshow to install manually a patch which seems to be quite essential to upgrade my 16gb tablet to the 1511 build of windows 10:
the patch is KB3124260 and I downloaded manually the .cab file from the official support site, but I have no experience about this, and no clue on how to install it. Is there any tool or script available?
