Card Reader In Laptop Won't Upload Photos From SD Card Slot

Unable To Upload Any Photos From SD Card
Aug 23, 2015I downloaded Windows 10 yesterday after having Windows 8. My SD Cards would be inserted into slot and it would always ask me to select the pictures I want to upload and I would select press enter and they would all upload.
Since Downloading Windows 10 I keep getting a window which says connect a device that you want to import from and it has two options try again or close. I hit the try again but just repeatedly keeps coming up with the same thing.
I just want to upload my photos from my SD card. I have tried 4 cards and all happens the same.

Aug 24, 2015I have installed Windows10 on a Gateway FX530 desktop PC. All has gone well with one exception. The OS seems to recognize that there is a card reader attached, I can see them through Device manager. When I insert a SD card the system completely ignores the device and will not allow me to access it. I have tried to change the drivers, without success. This card reader worked just fine with Windows 7 Pro and there was no indication that they would not work with Windows 10 when I ran the upgrade test.

Oct 24, 2014We're having a discussion over at DP Review. It's a photography site, but they also have a PC Talk forum. Anyway there's a discussion thread - USB thumb drives vs Card Readers in which we're trying to figure out if Windows will boot from a card reader with a SD card installed?
Basically you install the boot media on the SD card, use a card reader to read and boot from it.
I've never tried or seen this so I may be completely wrong, but I contend that neither Windows nor the BIOS will recognize the card reader as a valid boot drive.

Dec 9, 2015When I was viewing my windows 10 updates I saw some unusual update history of my Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader, (see attachments)I very rarely use this on my Dell Inspiron ONE but thought I would just check it out, and it did of course not work, I tried to find the driver in Device Manager but could not find it? How to know about installing the driver again if it is missing, I tried an external usb card reader and this is seen in File Explorer unlike built in one with sd card inserted.

Nov 30, 2015Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10, I'm now seeing the 4 card reader drives built into my computer appearing on some of the different desktop folders.
They don't appear on C:UsersusernameDesktop, nor do they show up on the physical desktop screen itself, which also doesn't show the Recycle Bin, Control Panel, etc (ie, it works the same way I had set it up before on 8.1) but they do appear on my taskbar desktop, on the navigation pane, and so forth.
How do I hide these without disabling the drives?

Dec 6, 2015I've just updated my Dell Inspiron 7537 laptop to Windows 10.
All is working fine apart from the built in Realtek card reader. When the PC starts, the card reader appears as a drive and I can read/write to the card. However, the reader will randomly show no content in file explorer and the drive disappears altogether if I remove and reinsert the card. The card reader reappears if I restart the PC. Device Manger shows no problems with the card reader.
I've tried the Dell Windows 10 driver, the latest driver on Realtek's site and the driver installed by Windows update but all fail in the same way. The card reader was fine in Windows 8 so I think it's a software issue.

Photos App Not Finding Photos On SD Card
Jul 30, 2015So I upgraded my Surface Pro 3 to Windows 10 last night and so far quite impressed. However it looks like an issue has carried over from Windows 8.1 to 10.
I'm finding that the Photos app cannot see the photos stored on my SD card. I have directed the library to point to the SD card and it is the only location defined in the Library for Photos. This was a problem in 8.1 but as I never used the app I stopped worrying about trying to sort it. However I can see myself using the app in 10, so would like to figure out what is happening.
It's not a case of the app not showing duplicates because I temporarily disabled the option for it to show OneDrive photos and now nothing shows.

Aug 3, 2015I am using a Dell latitude E6400 that was on 7 and now on 10 and since uploading 10 I can not upload photos from me card reader or my camera a Cannon 400D to my pictures.
I use Flickr as a image hosting site and on there when I want to get the image code to post a photo on to a forum I can no longer get the code as when I select the photo and click the share tag as the dropdown comes up the image code bar slides off to the left not letting you click it to use it , will this be a windows problem or a Flickr problem ??
I am a bit of a Old luddite (69) and find this all very confusing and disappointing for what is supposed to be the most tested system they have ever launched ?
Realtek PCIE Memory Card Reader Causes 80% / CPU In System And Compressed Memory
Apr 4, 2016I have an HP DV4 Laptop(i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) that came with Windows 7, I recently updated to Win10. Everything seems fine except of the high CPU usage in System and Compressed memory. I narrowed it down to the Realtek Memory Card reader. I should also mention that right after the Win10 update two Realtek Memory Card Reader entries were in Device Manager with yellow exclamation icons.
I deleted them and had Windows install the drivers from Windows updates, after that everything LOOKS fine. And there's only one entry now.After a while I noticed the fan making a lot of noise, wasn't like that in Win7.Anyway, after hours of troubleshooting I eventually came back to the Realtek reader, sure enough after disabling it CPU went to normal.I have also downloaded the newest driver from realtek site.

Jan 5, 2016I thought the USB 3 slots were BLUE by convention. On my Envy Laptop there is one BLUE slot - it's also a charging USB slot. However a Toshiba external USB3 device plugged into that slot has a WHITE Led when active indicating USB 2 speed.
I move the HDD to one of a pair of USB slots on the other side of the computer --not colour coded at all --and Hey presto the Toshiba HDD led goes BLUE indicating it's operating as a USB 3 device. Copying files also indicates it's operating at expected speed whereas connected into what I thought was the "Official" USB 3 slot only gave USB 2 data transfer speeds.
Shows you need to TEST the devices - don't always rely on external labeling etc.

How do I see pictures that I take with my surface, on my phone through the photos app/one drive? I don't seem to see anyway to have pictures automatically save to one drive or to be auto upload to one drive on Windows 10.
Also, What determines what albums are shown under "albums" on windows 10m? I have a lot of picture albums stored on one drive but the only two folders that show up are camera roll and saved pictures.
If I scroll to the "folders" section of the app, I can navigate through photos app to the folder I want... But this is annoying.. the album should just show up under albums. How do I get that?

Aug 12, 2015I recently updated to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and I have encountered lots of issues,
Firstly, my graphics card (GeForce gtx 760) isn't detected at all! Judging by the frame rate in the few games I can run, it seems to be just using the Intel built in graphics in my cpu. I can't open GeForce experience to update my driver.
Secondly, My computer is booting and running far slower than it was with windows 8.1 and a lot of programs won't open.
