Change Default File Name And Save To Location When Use Microsoft Print To PDF Printer
Oct 16, 2015
When I use the Microsoft print to pdf printer in Win 10, it gives the file a name and saves it to My Documents. How do I change the save to location to my desktop? Can I name the file myself rather than accept the name win 10 thinks it should be?
when I try to print any documdent with a print command, I only get anoption to save the document as a tiff file. Saving the document and then trying to print it gives the same "save as" option again. Printer is HP photosmart 6100 series.
I need to store files at a location other than my SSD boot drive. I right click on a folder icon e.g., "downloads" and go to properties/location and change the drive letter. I go to the icon, right click and the location has been changed.
However, downloads continue to go to C:users/myname/downloads.
I have a small SSD holding my OS, and a large HDD for everything else. I am trying to change the default install path to my storage drive, but when I go to settings, system, storage, I am unable to change the default install path to my storage drive (F:). Everything else (pictures, documents, music, etc.) can be changed to F:, but app install can't. I am able to manually change it while installing programs, but I would like to set it as the default.
I recently purchased a new Dell laptop with Windows 10. I understand that Windows 10 defaults savings documents to the Documents folder on OneDrive. Every time I download documents, they get saved to OneDrive > Documents; whereas, I want them to save to the local Documents folder. I found an article that discussed how to change this by setting the Set Save Location to my local Documents folder. I did that, but Windows is not recognizing the change. Documents still get saved to OneDrive > Documents.how to fix this?
In previous versions of Windows, a quick registry hack has let me create my main user (after the one in C:Users created when installing Windows) in E:Users rather than C:Users.
I'm using an english windows 10 with hungarian keyboard. Not even complicated, right? My location is set to Slovakia and my problem is that the date on my lock screen is in slovak and if I install anything with "use my default language" language option it's installed in slovak. My question is: Is there any way to change the default language without changing my location?
I have Windows 10 64-bit, I did a clean install on a new build (SSD). I would use the Windows "move" application feature and the default download location option but Microsoft greyed out the option on the final release of Windows and nobody knows when the feature will be back.
So should I change this stuff in regedit, using this method* or what should I do?
In my windows10 the file for the voice recorder is located in One Drive. I would like to change that location which I did drag and drop it into my document folder but the file is still located in the One Drive folder and new recordings do not get stored into my recording folder in documents. How do you change the default file location for the voice recorder, and stop recording going to One Drive.
The issue is I have a network printer selected as the default in Windows 10. I have the option "Let Windows manage my default printer" turned off. At one point randomly, the default printer goes back to the Adobe PDF as the default.
Steps taken:
* I have checked the registry settings to ensure that the options "let Windows manage my default printer" is switched off. I can confirm this. * Switched the default printer back to the network printer and performed a reboot. The network printer remains as the default. At some point of the day it goes back to Adobe PDF.
I downloaded a .lua file and it asked me what do i want it to open with. I exited out and it still made all my .lua files a photoshop file. I have just installed windows 10 and I am listed as the administrator. However, if I try to save a newly written document in a folder that I have always previously used for that purpose, I get a message which says:- You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the Documents folder instead? I can not create folders or save files in existing folders. This occurs when I try to save in Documents folder or the OneDrive. I am able to save on network places though. Is there an EASY permissions fix that does not require changing permissions for all the folders.
After I installed windows 10 my printer won't print. It shoots out the paper but it is blank. I checked and all the drivers are up too date. I use a Canon MX860 All in one. It worked fine on Vista, 7 & 8.
In Windows XP, when I print a doc from my PDF viewer, I can select my network attached printer's FAX machine and send a fax. In Windows 10, when I print I have a print destination of 'Fax' which puts me into the Windows 10 Fax code which tells me that I don't have a fax machine set up and then we go downhill into total irrelevancy.
printer attached to mac mini. have bonjour on pc with win 10. when i open the bonjour printer wizard it says "no bonjour printers are available. all 3 are networked together on a home network (WORKGROUP) i can share files from the mac but can't print from the win 10 pc
I have installed Windows 10 after having 8.1. I cannot get my printer to work it is a Kodak one wii fii enabled but since installing windows 10 it will not print via wii fii. It has a couple of times printed via the usb cable but more often than not wont print. I wondered if it was anything to do with it picking up which port I am trying to print from. What I can do. Was thinking of getting rid of Windows 10 and going back to 8.1 but dont know how to do it.
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and found out that I am not able to print out all. When I was using Windows 8.1, I was able to print with ease. But now, it is unable to print.
When I first upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10 all my Favorites imported into Microsoft Edge. At the time I didn't know that the Favorites for Microsoft Edge are stored in a different folder other than the Windows 7 folder of C:usersmikefavorites. I was told that they are stored in the folder C:UsersMikeAppDataLocalPackagesMicrosoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbweACMicrosoftEdgeUserDefaultFavorites but this is only true for the Favorites that imported during the original Windows 10 Update. Any Favorite that I delete from the Favorites list in Microsoft Edge doesn't get deleted from the Windows 10 Favorites Folder. In addition any new Favorites I create in Microsoft Edge do not show up in the Microsoft 10 Favorites Folder either. So where the heck are they?
Lately when I try to use the Microsoft Print to PDF feature in Windows 10, it is unable to save to any Dropbox folder. It creates the file but it is 0 size. I can print in any folder other than Dropbox. I can print it to my desktop then copy the resulting file to Dropbox, but unable to print directly.
This had worked in the past, but just noticed it within the last few days.
There is no error that shows up to let you know it failed either. So unless you try to open the file, or notice the 0 file size you will assume it printed ok.
This also occurs with the printer "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" so it is not just the PDF.
This only occurs with my user account. 2 other accounts on the same machine do not have the same issue. So probably permissions issue somewhere?
