Where is the folder in user, where the link are stored ?
Lately I've been having a problem where the applications don't show they're open. I know they are and they open fine, they just don't show the grey/transparent box around them indicating they are open. Like in this picture : [URL] ...
Pretty irritating. I'm not sure what I did to cause it, the only major changes that I've made to my computer are some basic mods to video games, and a couple of regedit's for icon arrows.
I've looked for a forum / article on this and have yet to find one describing my issue. Have gone through the task bar properties and display settings, multitasking settings etc.
I use the start menu of the secondary monitor to open an application, that application open on the primary monitor.
Is there a way to get that application to open on the monitor I started it from. (Using the Start Button of that monitor) ?
I don't actually get the point of having an extra start menu taskbar on that second monitor if it actually open the application on the primary one instead of the current one. It defeat the purpose of having a Start button on those secondary monitor. (I means if you gonna open an application on the primary one, I might as well just use the Start button of the primary one!!)
Also i'm having a second issue related to the first one i guess:
Example: I open ChromeFile Explorer or whatever on my secondary monitor and close it. When I try to open a new one on any monitor it would open it at the LAST KNOW LOCATION of where I closed it.
This is very annoying when you use "Virtual Desktop" "Multiple Monitor" If I open an application I expect it to open where I launch it from(Monitor,Virtual Desktop etc).
i don't want to use to built-in windows key hotkeys such as win+D, win+S etc. how can i modify them or disable them altogether?
View 6 RepliesNot sure what Microsoft is thinking, but the "most used" list...isn't functioning as you would expect. I want programs I launch often to go there, with the recent file list fly out, that's the most user-friendly feature brought over from Windows 7....
However, what Windows uses to identify "most used". I use one program every single day, it never appears.
A program I used a few times over a month ago is still in the list, when I chose to remove it, no other programs replaced it...why wouldn't the next most used program appear?
How do I set the number of programs to list...the number grows and reduces all on it's own...it's quite bizarre.
This would all be fine if I could CHOOSE to add programs to the start menu (The "real" one, NOT the "modern" one, with it's useless huge icons)..but...you can't!!!
Windows keeps telling me to disable three programs that start when the computer does, but the 'disable' button in the startup menu on task master is grayed out and will not function. I have followed all the directions, which basically haven't changed for this version of windows and repeated the effort several times, but am unable to modify these programs.

View 3 RepliesI come from windows 7 and i have not problem to copy delete etc. files on programs. Now every time i search to change file o delete or copy a windows appear ask me a permission..There is a way to disable this warning or ahve full acces to programs ?
View 2 RepliesI read many people complain about the Start Menu on Windows 10, specifically about not being able to modify it like they could in Windows 7.
You actually can modify it, pretty easily. Simply open This PC, then click in the address bar and type "start menu". You can then go into Programs and create new folders, shortcuts, etc. And any shortcuts you create can be also pinned as a tile from the All Apps section. And you can have Cortana launch them too.

View 3 RepliesIs it posible to change this taskbar buttons text font to tahoma without antialiasing?
Like this? (external program)
I'm currently testing Windows 10 (in virtualbox), I use Classic Shell to change the taskbar opacity. a way to do this manually?
View 2 RepliesThe apps that are pinned on the taskbar those ones. Any way to do that?
View 2 RepliesI am using a Toshiba 64-bit laptop running Windows 10 Home, 8gb memory, 1T hard drive.
For almost a week, I have been unable to change from one app to another by clicking on them on the Taskbar. To access a different app, I have to minimize all the apps I have open and then click on the one I want on the Taskbar.
I looked at the recent Windows updates and saw some updates to MS Office. I did a repair on MS Office but that did not fix anything. Since this involves all applications on the Taskbar, it would seem to be a Windows problem
I just installed windows 10 but I dont quite like the small size of the taskbar icons. How do i increase their size without increasing the size of everything else?

View 2 RepliesThe advice given (to go to "personalization" and turn "show color on Start, Task bar, action center and title bar" to "on" and pick a color) does not change the background color of the task bar, which remains black regardless of this setting. how can you change the background color of the task bar from black to something that will actually contrast with the icons? Black is a terrible color; some of the icons are barely visible with that setting.
View 9 Replieswhat I see about Windows 10 so far, but one thing that does bother me is the vibrancy of the colors of the start menu and task bar. I would prefer a more pastel color theme, but so far I haven't been able to find how to do that. I've tried following the second half of this guide (basically, just run "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,Advanced,@Advanced") to get to the old style "Show color mixer" menu. And that menu does in fact have sliders for "color intensity" or "saturation." The problem is, adjusting those sliders doesn't seem to actually change anything.
So is it possible with Windows 10 to actually change this color option?
Is it possible to change the color of text on the Taskbar buttons? It is unreadable as black text on a very dark background.
I now have all the other UI colors in Windows 10 looking how I want with a customized theme.
I'd like to change the icon of these icons, but I found no obvious way.
View 4 RepliesJust upgraded to windows 10 and on 7 I was using Ultramon, a super awesome multi-monitor program. Needless to say, ultramon doesn't work on 10 but 10 has some pretty great multi-monitor functionality already.
I've got two monitors and I have taskbar shown on both and buttons are set to show on taskbar where the window is open. What I'm trying to do is hide the Start Menu, Cortana search, and task view buttons on the non-primary monitor taskbar.
Also, I'm wondering if it's possible to change the Windows keyboard shortcuts? Trying to change the shortcut for switching between desktops to something other than Ctrl + Win + (Left/Right)
Build 9926 and using the default Start Menu.
To change the default Color of the Start Menu & Taskbar go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Personalization > Color And Appearance then select Show Color Mixer. These 3 sliders will modify the solid color chosen above that also modifies the color of the Start Menu & Taskbar.
The Color Intensity slider only modifies the color of the window borders.
Color and Appearance - Change in Windows 10
Color Intensity & Color Mixer functions (Sliders) have been depreciated and no longer have any effect of altering a chosen color for builds newer than 10130.
I'd been using this method on Windows 7: Windows Explorer Taskbar Icon - Change Open To Target And I take it that this is how it's done in 8: File Explorer Taskbar Icon - Change Open To Target. Will the latter tutorial also work here in 10?
View 2 Repliessome programs display the filename before the program name in the taskbar eg notepad and MSword2013
some programs display the program name first eg powerISO + most others
because my taskbar space is limited i need only the program name displayed next to the program icon.
if i have several copies of the same program running at once and i can only see the program name in the taskbar
