View 1 RepliesI am having problems changing my profile picture, I have looked around the internet and tried everything I could, When i try to change it I get an error saying "Setting the account picture failed. Please try again." I also cant see it on the lock screen everytime i reboot it.
View 5 RepliesI have Windows 10 Pro and activated. I tried to change the picture on my Lock screen and the beads just keep going around and will not display the picture I have selected. So therefore it will not change So I am stuck with the old windows 8.1 pro lock screen picture.
I decided to try it on the laptop Windows 10 Home and I am able to change the lock screen picture to anything I want to. Is this a bug in the Pro version?
Cannot find how to change/add picture to the login screen?
View 2 RepliesThe upper right profile picture on the default Startup Page of Microsoft Edge doesn't update. It keeps displaying the first profile picture I used when I installed Windows 10.Maybe it's a detail for most of the people but being a nitpicker, and not being given any option to modify it directly (and it should be tied to the Microsoft Account. All my other (tied to Microsoft account) profile pictures, on my phone (Nokia 1020/909) as well as on the online Microsoft services and Windows 10 update correctly, almost instantly, but not this one.
By the way, any valid link to download the WinDbg tool for Windows 10 (not the 8.1 one)? The official one doesn't work. Had found one that was working but I can't find it again. Got some random BSOD, probably tied to (a)faulty RAM stick(s), but I need to do further investigations, and the system restore deleted the tool installation.
When one of my family members goes to sign in, it says "preparing windows." Then, once they are logged in, it says "You've been signed in with a temporary profile. You can't access your files, and files created in this profile will be deleted when you sign out. To fix this, sign out and try signing in later." The problem is still persisting a day later. Aif I turned off sync settings, would that prevent this from happening?
View 2 RepliesBought a new HP Envy 17 laptop with Windows 8.1 and updated it to Windows 10. Logging in with a MS-Account
Some issues have appeared, one that is bothering me is the following:
I try to change the lockscreen picture, but Windows 10 will not allow it. It has a red banner at the top of the settings window stating that some of the settings are managed by my organisation.
This is completely silly as the laptop has never, ever been part of a domain or registered in an organisation. Neither has the MS-Account, it has been used on a single laptop before, but never as part of a domain or in an organisation.
How can I get my laptop "out" of an organisation that I have never joined?
There are some other settings that also are disabled, and I want to get control of my laptop.
I have looked in the Settings personalize Tab and can not locate the time tab for setting interval for picture changing? any other location it may be located in?
View 1 RepliesBelieve I have a corrupt user profile as newly installed apps not appearing in desktop programs menu, so decided to create two new profiles one final and one temporary, using the copy to procedure built into Windows, but used Windows enable app to allow copy to to work.....got an error message at the last step with a pop up windo telling Windows could not delete the folder..
View 1 RepliesJust upgraded to win10. How do I add my picture to the welcome screen?

View 4 RepliesAs a keen flickr member I have a lot of photographs on my computer. These are all neatly allocated to different files, depending upon a variety of variables. So far....all is well.
Yesterday my neighbour kindly upgraded me to Windows 10. Everything seemed fine.
Today I tried to take 4 photographs off my camera and load them up to my computer. Initially I got a dialogue box asking me what I would like to do in future when I plugged in my camera - I said "upload the pix to my computer".
Previously they have always arrived on my desktop in a separate file. I would then edit them, afterwards splitting them up into different files, depending on what I want to do with them.
Anyway, this morning, after taken 4 photographs, I plugged in my camera. I then get a message saying "We found 880 photos. Would you like to import them into your picture folder". And the only alternatives given were IMPORT or CANCEL.
I do NOT want all my pix jumbled together in a picture folder. I want them all neatly organized into the folders I have set up.
Is there any way I can get rid of this 'Picture folder' and go back to using my existing folders (they are all still there, and all still containing the photographs they should rightfully contain.)
I can't figure why I get the generic gray circle with the person on it on my welcome screen when my computer starts up. My account shows my picture as a gold fish. My computer was set to auto login before I made the switch from windows 8.1 and upgraded to 10 and has been logging in with out my entering password since then just like the way I want it.
View 1 RepliesSo when I go to the lock screen in Windows 10 I can select a picture and the preview shows it fine. However when I actually lock my PC it still shows the default Windows 10 one. (Not a solid colour)
PC upgraded from Windows 7 recently. All updates applied.
I have tried so many things, deleted systemdata folder in programdata, tried running registry repairs, sfc scannow etc.
Why it will let me change the lock screen picture with no problems, change the preview but the actual lock screen image itself doesn't change?
Suddenly the lock screen slideshow no longer works, it just stays at one picture. I have not made any changes to the folders i have set and there have been no windows updates recently. I tried logging out, I tried restarting but nothing works. What could be causing this...
View 3 RepliesHaving difficulty adding a picture / wallpaper to the lock screen. I have just set up windows 10 screen saver and I see you can change the lock screen back ground picture.
I have tried adding either one of the windows wallpapers or one of my own pictures but I can't find any option to save the image. on closing the window & returning to the lock screen the picture does not appear to save and returns to the standard blue background with date and time.
I can't find any option to save the image as a lock screen wallpaper.
I would like to change the picture that appears PRIOR to the login screen. It seems to be a default picture, chosen by Windows. I remembered when I first installed Windows 10,each time I started my laptop a different picture would appear and I'd be asked if I liked the picture or not. That ha stopped and now all I get is a picture of a sunrise. How can I change that picture?
View 1 RepliesFrom another forum there were people asking if they could eliminate the default sign in background picture. At the time, it could not be done.
Recently I posted a tutorial authored by Brink from another forum that allows users to change the sign in background pictures. That requires downloading something.
In this new build 10565 ( I think this started in build 10547, but I didn't have that build to know for sure ), we can now eliminate the background picture and replace it with solid colour. This can be done by Settings > Personalization > left side, Lock Screen > right side, under Show Windows background picture on the sign in screen, turn the slider OFF.
I re-flashed the BIOS, remove any overclocking features, my temperatures are fine and I still get blue screened.
This is not a new computer either, I've never had trouble with other games.
I started a clean install yesterday and after today I am trying to install another user profile.
I went to settings; Accounts; Family and other users; Add someone else to this PC; and all I get is "Something went wrong".
I've searched around for an answer to this but I couldn't find anything. Does the People App in Windows 10 bring in profile pictures from Facebook? This worked great in Windows 8.1 and all the mobile versions (even WP10 preview) but for some reason all my contacts in the People App have blank pictures and I'm not sure how to get this fixed. I have the Facebook app installed but I'm not sure if there is anything else I need to do. It's annoying seeing all the blank pictures.

View 1 RepliesI recently did the free upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 on my desktop. Everything went smoothly, except for the fact that Autoplay doesn't want to work anymore. I can get it to come up with the notification in the Action Center when I plugged a USB device in, but clicking the actual device name just gets rid of it from the list, and nothing else happens.
The weird thing is that this only happens in my main profile on my PC. I created a new profile recently (in addition to my main one), and Autoplay works flawlessly there. Is there some setting that got messed up for me during the upgrade?
When I try to login, I get the following error message:"The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in.User profile cannot be loaded."I am literally unable to use my HP Envy laptop, which is running Windows 10, because of this. I do not even know how to get into safe mode. Though I haven't found safe mode yet, I was able to access system diagnostics via Escape (while rebooting). I tried to do a system restore, but it said I had errors on my hard drive and made me check and fix those errors.Next I tried Recovery Manager. But this just gives me a blue screen. Nothing comes up.
