Dec 29, 2015I cannot read the names of the various icons on the desktop. And I have been trying desperately to change them going to the settings etc. But no luck.

Nov 24, 2014I just installed Build 9879 over Windows 7 on a spare machine and it went as expected except for the size of the Icon fonts and size of the taskbar. They both are much larger than they were on Win 7. I can't remember how to make them smaller. I make the icons themselves smaller (medium) by using View on the desktop but the fonts and taskbar are way to big. How to reduce them under Win 10?

Feb 10, 2016I wish to know if there is a way to change the font size/style (bold, etc.) of the icon labels ONLY on the desktop screen.
I've tried the Control Panel method (Appearance & Personalization -> Display) that allows me to change the fonts for 'ICONS'. However, this option also changes the appearance of fonts in the directories/filenames, which is not what I want.
E.g. Labels on the desktop with size 12 and bold. Fonts in folders: size 9 and UNbolded (default style).

Aug 10, 2015It seems the default font on this WIndows is Arial and it's really ugly, especially when reading an entire page in Chrome or in any other browser. Tried to change the font in all browsers- no result. It can change only the size- Arial still there. It bugs me that it's everywhere, even in games. This compact font in games is really annoying and made me quite after playing a few minutes. I have no problems with overlapping or unreadable font problems I've read on this forum.

Installation :: Desktop Icon Font Drop Shadows
Apr 5, 2015Win 10 Tech Demo. I would like to have plain black text on my desktop icons. I have un-ticked the appropriate box to remove the subject drop shadows, but it did not remove them. I have checked the appropriate registry setting which is set to "0".
When I boot into Win 10, the icon font at first appears black but then the desktop "re-draws" and the drop shadows appear.
I have "Classic Shell" installed to give me the standard Windows 7 type Start Menu - could this be relevant?

Desktop Icons Positions Changing
Oct 1, 2015I have Windows 10 since launch and I have all updated installed. I have my recycle bin in bottom right hand corner but if I restart the PC or refresh the desktop, it will go to the left side. This didnt happen in Win 7 and at some point in Win 10 I was able to move them anywhere without it resetting the positions.So what do I need to change for it not lose the positions?

Nov 29, 2015This is in regards to files disappearing and my desktop changing. I downloaded and installed Windows 10 last night but did not do any modifications until this morning. When I started my computer today, I couldn't find my files. I found them in my user profile. So I moved them to the desktop in a new folder. Also, the desktop was not my previous desktop in regards to shortcuts. Which was fine because I added them back.
I then changed the desktop theme to the flower theme. I then went to restart and selected Update and Restart. When the computer rebooted, my desktop them was gone, and now my old shortcuts from 8.1 were on there. AND the file folder I created with all my files is gone.
I have looked in the windows old folder, the new one, did a file search, what happened? I do not have more than one desktop in the virtual desktops.
Should I recover back to 8.1 to get my files or how do I find them? They can't be deleted but somehow hidden on that other desktop.
Changing Screen Brightness On Desktop Without The Calibration Hustle?
Dec 5, 2015Is there a way to change (decrease) the desktop screen brightness without going through the "Color calibrate" settings ?
Am looking for something similar to f.lux but without the orange filter, there is one called Turn off the lights, but it's very expensive ($25).
Also, isn't this supposed to be live a very basic thing ? i know that on laptop the brightness is controlled "physically" to save energy, i also know that f.lux and the other program i mentioned above are not accessing the real screen colors settings so maybe that's why Microsoft didn't add it but how hard would it be to make a software that just apply a color filter over the entire screen (reducing the darkness will just be a transparent black filter).
