Nov 16, 2015
I have recently updated Windows 10, since then I have taken my computer back to Factory settings, everything worked okay, until I turned off my computer and since then it will not accept the password that I have always used.

Like the title says, I have the overclock set since I got the computer almost two years ago and it is running great. Recently the computer has been sluggish and I am assuming its because of a torrent file...anyway looking to factory restore the computer but hoping I won't have to go through and write down all the bios settings in the case it wipes my OC.

i tried to wipe my hard drive using the system wipe function in windows settings, and I let it do that while I had to go do something else. I came back to an error that it had an error during the process, and a sole button "cancel." It now tries and fails to boot up past the hp splash screen, and then black screens and resets. It does this in a loop, f8 does nothing, and it detects nothing. My warranty expired a mere 5 days ago, and I am absolutely lost.

I had a lot of files so I decided to reset to factory settings. Computer at 2% turned off, so I tryed to turn it on again, but windows refused to start, it turned off after the manufacturer's logo showed, so I decided to download windows 10 installer [URL] ..... and put it into my USB. I tryed to reinstall windows through usb port, but it needs to turn on the windows that can not be launched (possibly due to incomplete reset to factory settings that might have deleted important windows files). How can I re-install windows 10 without needing to access windows?

So i have 2 hard drives, one new and one beginning to die on me. I have windows on the dying hard drive, and do not have the original disks or product key. I tried using DriveImage XML to copy everything onto the new drive, but for some reason when it boots it says "Hard disk failure" when i have the just the new hard drive in there (i am 100% sure it is plugged in properly). I really dont have the money to buy a new windows disk, and so i was wondering if it would work if i were to factory reset my computer and have windows 10 reinstall on my new hard drive, or is there an easier way?

I had windows 7 installed, upgraded to windows 10, and then created a bootable USB with windows 10 on it. Built a new computer, used the USB to install windows 10 and tried using my code from windows 7 (I was told that it would be associated with my windows 10 account now), and it doesn't work. Should I try calling Microsoft to see if they will activate it for me or what should I do? I just dished out a lot of cash to build this new rig and was hoping I could get away with the free windows 10 since I owned windows 7 and was able to upgrade it and reserve my free upgrade.

Sleep and password settings do not work. Even though they are set for "do not sleep when plugged in" the computer falls asleep after 60 seconds. I must constantly mess with the touchpad to keep it awake. AND every time it goes to sleep I have to use a password to wake it. In the settings I have it set to not use a password on wakeup. Acer Aspire V laptop automatically upgraded to windows 10 over about a 10 month process.

Windows kept asking me for the password upon startup and would not recognize the password I input each time. So I would have to reset it. I went to the forum and read how to shut the password feature off by holding the windows key + r , typing the letters provided and unchecking the box. The system then asked me to restart. My laptop will not restart - blue/black screen appears and nothing else.

All of the previous versions of Windows that I ever set up, you were able to set auto-start with no password. Inow have Windows 10 and can't for the life of me find a way to do this. Is it not available option now in Win 10 ?

I have been using my sweet gaming PC (Windows 10) since September when Microcenter, who assisted me in fixing a problem with my motherboard, returned my computer to me. I have never had any problems with software until yesterday when I was browsing around and suddenly my computer restarted. It said it was updating, so I thought nothing of it, then it booted back up, and I needed a password, I didn't know what it meant, so I just typed random characters, it told me a hint that I would never set as a password ...

My query is regarding a brand new i7 sixth generation computer with Windows 10 Professional, including all the Windows upgrades, and a new Samsung SSD hard-drive.
The reason I bought Windows 10 Professional was for the full hard-drive encryption provided by Bitlocker in case my computer gets lost or stolen, as has happened to me previously. However, I have an ongoing problem with it and can't find a solution anywhere. I have tried to telephone Microsoft's telephone support several times but it has been beyond a joke with their outsource staff in far-flung countries with poor English claiming Windows 10 Professional does not have the option of Bitlocker or any form of encryption to all kinds of other absurdities.
Whenever I start my computer it does not ask me to enter a Bitlocker username or password (I am asked for the Windows password, but, as everyone knows, those are not totally secure and do no protect hard-drive data access). Also, in the Bitlocker section in Control Panel, I am not giving the option to edit a Bitlocker password, even though that option exists in all the other screenshots I have seen on the web.
How can I set my computer up to present me with a Bitlocker password on boot-up?
My system does say my hard-drive is encrypted, but how can I certain of that if there is not even password protection?
Here is what I see in my Windows Control Panel > Bitlocker section:
I note the warning message about rights being restricted to the system adminstrator, but I am the system adminstrator and have double-checked that.

When my computer boots up now, it is showing my email address and is asking me for my password.
I don't want that because others are going to be using it here at home.
I don't want any restrictions for accessing this pc.
How do I get rid of the requirement to enter my email password?
p.s. same thing happens when I restart or wake it up from sign out.... it asks for my password.

So, a while back I had a problem on the Windows 10 Home Edition where it would not let me change my lock screen. Since I didn't have the pro edition, I couldn't change the policy in the registry editor because of a lack of one, so I transferred all my files to a local account. I then had the problem of programs asking me to enter my admin password every time I wanted to access certain protected programs, so I disabled the admin password so this would no longer happen. I then deleted the account which was considered the program and went on with my normal business on my PC.
Later, I restarted my PC, and when I went to login, it said my password was incorrect for my local account. I then went into my boot options, opened command prompt in safe mode and changed my admin password. I then restarted my PC and now I don't even have the option to login at all, coming up with the error message "Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator." Now this problem usually fixed by holding shift and pressing restart to access boot options, but I cannot do this.
Every time I press OK to go back to the lock screen, it instantly goes back to the administrator message, meaning I can't boot anything. I planned on doing a complete reinstall of Windows 10 using a bootable usb iso, but since I can't boot it, this isn't possible, unless I'm missing something such as a key allowing me to launch the boot options from launch, although I've tried keys such as f8 to no avail.

When I walk away from my computer, I want it to go to sleep in 20 minutes. Sometimes I return after an hour, and the computer is still awake. There's obviously a rat in the woodpile here. Some software is changing my sleep setting from 20 minutes to "Never" without my permission. Sometimes it will sleep normally for a day or 2, then suddenly something resets my sleep time to "Never".
Is there a way I can block this activity, or re-set it to the proper 20 minute setting on each startup?BTW, I had the same problem in WIn7 and Win8. I was hoping it would be fixed in Win10. It has not.
