Computer Powers On During The Night
Nov 9, 2015
Problem with PC coming on during the night? (W10) I get up in the am and it's running, when I turned it off the night before! I have resorted to switching it off at the back to prevent this from happening.
My friend said to see the scheduler which I had a look at to switch off any updates that was due to update during the early morning. Also had a look in my bios for wake on Lan, but could actually see where that setting was.

A note about that complex command on PowerShell, it returned this:
PS D:> Get-ScheduledTask | ? { $_.Settings.WakeToRun -eq $true -and $_.State -ne "Disabled"} | % { $_.Settings.WakeToRun = $false; Set-ScheduledTask $_ }
TaskPath TaskName State

MicrosoftWindowsUpdateOrchestrator Reboot Ready
I can't take this anymore. I find it useful to put the PC on sleep or hibernation because I have a lot applications open for work and I find it useful not having to close all down every day and reopen the next day. But lately, either I put the PC on sleep, hibernation or even I shut it down, it wakes up 95% of the times at 6 a.m.

Each morning when I wake up, my computer is on, rather than in sleep mode, as I left it. I have disabled the power of the mouse to wake it.

I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7, and all is working well. However, after hibernating, the system powers itself on at 8:30 every evening. I've looked through the Task Scheduler app, and I can't see anything there that has "wake the computer" checked. What else might be causing this, and how I can stop it?

PC wakes every night at 11:36. I have disabled the wake for anything feature and I cannot figure this out. Based on settings its not supposed to wake up. Is there something buried that I need to change or is this just a win 10 flaw?

My pc used to be on windows 8.1 and I never had this problem. Ever since I installed windows 10 I have noticed that it has been randomly starting up. I shut it down and then wake up the next day finding that it had randomly turned on during the night. It shows the log in page as usual with no signs of being locked, standby or anything else. it shows as if i shut it down and turned it back on again manually but i haven't. This only started to happen after I updated windows 8.1 to 10 so i dont think it has anything to do with the motherboard.

Yesterday I got a notification that my windows 10 upgrade was ready on my MSI GT60-0NE laptop and decided to give it a try because I really disliked windows 8.1. Windows update went through downloading the files and preparing the computer for installation. It then did the usual, configuring updates on the blue screen, got to 100% and just shut down completely. I left it there for about 5 minutes and decided to try to power it back on. When turning the computer back on, it stayed on for about a minute and then cut itself back off.
After waiting a minute it turned back on, then back off again. It kept repeating this for about 5 minutes. During this phase I saw absolutely nothing on the screen, no MSI loading splash screen, no cursor, absolutely nothing at all. I couldn't enter the BIOS, couldn't run recovery or even get into safe mode. Absolutely nothing worked. The battery light was also flashing blue which I had never seen before. During this time the hard drive light was flashing and flickering the usual red light.
I did a hard reset on the computer and then turned it back on. When i powered it back on the screen was still completely blank, no MSI splash screen, no cursors, couldn't enter the BIOS or anything. During this time the hard drive light was a steady red. The blue battery light was no longer there and it was back to its usual constant red light. After about 10 minutes the computer turned itself off. Being frustrated I left it overnight and tried again this morning.
When I power the computer on now, there is no hard drive light. It doesn't even give a single flash of red. The computer will stay on but just stays there at the black screen. I've tried to look for solutions but I can't get anything to work. The only thing I can hear running is the fan.
I've tried to remove the hard drive and boot to see if I could get into bios, still a black screen.
I've tried removing the video card and booting to see if I could get anything through integrated graphics, still a black screen.
I've tried to plug the computer into another monitor, still a black screen but it does recognize the signal.
Specs for the GT60-0NE 403-US:
Intel Core i7 3630QM (2.40 GHz)
Nvidia GTX 680M (4GB)
Windows 8.1 64-bit (Windows 10 now?)

I updated to W10 and have had no problems and this one really isn't a big deal but it's got my OCD going. I have sleep set after 25 minutes and that seems to work fine. It comes out of sleep pretty well too. But, it seems that ovenight, the system shuts down on it's own.
I've looked at the logs and scheduler and it seems that the UpdateOrchestrator was set at 3:30 am so I changed that time to 6:30 PM and the system turned off overnight again.
So, I left it awake one night and it did not shut off. Tried again the next night and it turned off. I'm going to try to remove the schedule entirely but from what I've read over the last few weeks, it will create a new task again.
What UpdateOrchestrator really does despite all my googling and don't have this problem on any other PC so I'm wondering if it has to do with hardware. WhoCrashed does not report any crashes at all. Nor do the logs tell me anything.

A few days ago I downloaded win 10 and everything is going pretty well except.. every night at 12:15 exactly the computer will awake from sleep by itself. I never had this issue with win 7 which I just upgraded from.

I recently installed windows 10 in my computer, but i got a problem : my computer does not fully shutdown when i click the shut down button in the start menu, it just closes apps, screen turns black, but the pc is still on and i can say this because keyboards lights are still on (power one, wifi one) and i am forced to press the power button for 5 seconds to force a shutdown and then turn it on again. I searched on internet some solutions and the most common problem seems related to the fast startup feature.

so 2 days ago was the scheduled day for the windows 10 free upgrade. I was on vacation and didn't get to my laptop that day. So I come back the next day and my windows 8.1 computer keeps freezing and freezing and FREEZING . I then decide to reset it to factory settings and I don't see the free upgrade button next to my date in time so I think maybe I have to update to windows 8.1 sense when I reset it it reset to windows 8.0 . so I spend a whole day updating to windows 8.1 . Now its day 2 and I still cant see the free upgrade button...

since installing Windows 10 the computer boots up by itself, as I am not that much into computers the only way I can stop this happening is to unplug the main power cable after powering off.

Recently upgraded to Windows 10. Everything seemed to go well. It was working fine I restarted a couple times and it all went well . I shut the computer down for about 20 minutes and when I tried to restart it I get nothing on the monitor. I can hear the hard drive start but monitor doesn't come on unless I hit the power button on the monitor and even when I do it just comes on for a few seconds and it is blank and it says monitor is going to sleep and shuts off again and if I hit the power button again it will just repeat the cycle.

I downloaded and installed the new Windows 10. The installation seemed to be perfectly accomplished. However, when I tried to open my desktop I discovered that the system had set up a new password to enter !!!!
Result: i do not have access to my computer !
*I did not have any password before, so I guess Windows 10 could have fixed a default password.

How I should migrate my OS to an SSD. I recently upgraded to windows 10 from 7, and now want to add an SSD to my computer. So, I was wondering if that would create any licensing issues, since the key for windows 10 is tied to the computer's "fingerprint". I am planning to buy the sandisk 120gb SSD, and will use their migration software.

I held off to upgrade to Windows 10 until I thought it was safe. My motherboard manufacture said it was Window 10 ready, so I upgraded over the weekend. Now I have no audio. This is bad, because this is our media center for our house hold. As a quick fix I purchased a replacement sound card that has Windows 10 x64 drivers on their website. I installed it today, installed the newest drivers, and still no audio. I hooked multiple speakers to it and no sound. I hooked the speakers to my TV and play a regular show, and there is no problem there. Just no audio from my computer. The additional sound card I just put on to try to get Audio working is an Asus Xonar DGX PCIE 5.1 Audio card.
