Yesterday my computer froze a number of times. It started off at about 3 minutes post boot up then got subsequently quicker with each restart. It eventually started freezing on the windows logo screen.
After about two windows logo screen freezes it automatically booted into safe mode. At this point I tried Clr CMOS, which had no apparent effect and then I disabled literally every startup program and that still had no effect.
Where I stand now:
- I have backed up all my data to an external drive.
- I have performed a "full reset" of my computer i.e. all personal data, installed apps and settings are wiped and windows reinstalls a clean version of itself.
- The set up of windows worked normally, but once it rebooted itself after set up was finished it automatically booted to safe mode.
I've exported an xml and a text document from speccy ....
Long story short, W10 doesn't support my built in Intel video chip and there is no driver and W10 wont let me load Windows Basic Video driver so I need to go back to W7. I can only get into Safe Mode so I don't see how to do the reversal. Windows.old exists. How do I get the computer to revert from Safe Mode?
My computer will not go to sleep at all unless it is in safe mode without networking (the monitor does sleep then). When I boot it into safe mode with networking, it will not go to sleep (the monitor will not sleep). When I boot normally into Windows 10 (clean install; up-to-date as of today with Windows Update), the computer does not sleep.
Also, sometimes before when I login after a normal startup, the computer does go to sleep; however, nothing displays on the monitor after I press the power button to bring it out of sleep. I tried disabling the "wake" feature for the network adapter (as suggested in another thread), but that did not work at all. My computer's specifications are:
Operating System Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24) Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. My computer has been having a problem with locking up randomly. Hard reset is the only way to recover. I ran stress test on CPU, GPU, memory checker, Sea gate tools was never able to recreate the problem or find any issues with any hardware. I also swapped out video cards and still had the same issue. I also monitored temperatures and never had it get hot. But if i reboot into safe mode with networking windows never locks up.
Computer specs
windows 10-upgraded from 8.1 i7-4820k 8gb ram mobo alienware aurora-r4 Radeon r9 200 series
I'm having issues with deploying out-of the box windows 10 on a Lenovo B50-80EW preinstalled win 7 pro and upgradable to win 8.1 Pro however since the new windows 10 update build 1511 ISO I download I thought it would go through OK . without have to do first upgrade install to windows 10
Secure BOOT on UEFI ON
From putting the windows 10 ISO in drive it doesn't prompt for activation key. As soon as network settings prompts I press shift/ Contro / F3
Now in administrator Mode I check windows is activated however I have the same model of laptop and I want to mass deploy an image but want to use the OEM key embedded in BIOS to each laptop of this model is this possible to be done as I deployed on another machine and got message saying this key is already in use is there an issue with the new ISO available from Microsoft .
I also tried fresh install with out no ethernet or wireless connected and still get on same machine windows is activated in audit mode on fresh setup.
I clean installed Windows 10 about 2-3 weeks before the problem. During the clean install, the computer crashed once, but was otherwise rock stable.
The first time I had the current problem I got an error saying something like Boot Failed and the Bios was reset to its default values. The computer restarted and was rock stable. I immediately did a memory test using Windows 10s memory tester and all was good. I also rebooted with no problems, but when I shut the computer down all I got was a blank screen.
I removed all the devices from the motherboard and tried using each of the two memory modules in each of the four memory slots, and it posted just once, but I was unable to replicate this when I shut the computer down and tried to restart the computer.
I tried several times to remove the battery to reset the the Bios to no avail.
I sent the motherboard to Gigabyte, but they said the motherboard works just fine!!!
What should my next step be? I highly doubt that it's the CPU, and that seems to suggest the power supply.
I am using the onboard DVI to my monitor. No gaming and no overclocking. I have a i5 Intel Haswell.
Due to there not being an F8 boot command screen any more I had to go into msconfig to change how the computer starts up.. which is now set to safe mode. So I'm in safe mode (on the other computer).. the problem is I cannot figure out how to reset it to start up in normal mode. The 'search windows' box at the bottom will not allow any text to be entered.. unless I can get to msconfig by looking for it in safe mode.. I'm stuck in safe mode. How to get to msconfig in safe mode without typing it in? again the msconfig was changed to have the computer start up in safe mode.. it's now doing it every time.. even after a system restore to 4 days ago.
I put my PC in safe mode but when I try to get out I can't I press the windows key and the R and then put msconfig. A window opens but it closes right after.
I knew better but with the constant nagging for me to update...I accepted the update. This is where the problems started. My HP dv7 took the update and now only shows a sun burst and blue like screen...mouse works but will not do anything else...tried to boot in safe mode but nothing doing there either...... how to just get back to my win 7 home pre.
I was having difficulty with flashing and went into safe mode to try to figure out which program was causing it but now whenever I reboot I am still in Safe Mode.
how it did not work on windows 10 using f8 key..I like knowing if I need to get into safe mode on my pc the f8 key will work... So I started checking the web and found how to make windows 10 go into safe mode with f8 key...The information I found is for windows 8 but I checked it out on my windows 10 pc and it works just fine... How to enable the F8 key to start Safe Mode in Windows 8.Admin...If this is information you all know about just delete this post...
Needed to boot in safe mode, used msconfig to set the boot mode. Of course I was not aware my pen number login is wothless so now I am stuck in perpetual safe login screen. My outlook password is in a program on the system which I cannot access.
Tried shift restart and tried startup settings and press enter, but this does not do a normal boot, just another safe mode. Where is the option for normal boot!?
I work in an education environment and these kids are very savvy. They have figured out how to put the computer in Safe Mode and make it impossible for me to track them. how to Disable Safe Mode?
I want to boot into safe mode but every time I try it crashes and shows BSOD Bad_Pool_Header. I've tried to boot it manually through system config. It still won't work.
My laptop was windows 7 and I have upgraded to windows 10. Over the past few weeks i've seen that some updates have failed, and I was going to try the product on this site , windows all in one, to try and find out the problem. so i followed the instructions for powering off, unplugging and removing battery to drain electricity, and then rebooted to "safe" level...and then.....i can't login from safe mode, it says password is incorrect, and i am unable to get OUT of safe level to sign in the regular way.
So, to log into your computer you have now to enter a PIN instead of a password, right? Well, that PIN is changed (or something similar) because I can't log in with the normal one.
Since I installed windows 10 sometimes my computer just automatically reboots, no warning, no notifications, after it reboots it goes back to working fine but I have checked everything I can think of and can not find out why it is doing this, and it is very aggravating if I am online playing games
Through msconfig I added safe boot with networking, however when I restart with F8 networking does not boot up. Took a while to even find how to get that far and then it didn't work right.
