Computer Turns On By Itself After Complete Shut Down
Nov 22, 2015It turned on from a complete shut down.

View 1 RepliesI have an ASUS UX303ln with a clean install of Windows 10 in UEFI boot mode. It seems that: when I turn off the computer it turns off the screen and fans, but stays on, consuming an unusual amount of energy (in about 30% of the cases it actually turns off properly)When I hibernate the computer, same thing happensWhen I put it to sleep, in about 60-75% of the cases it won't wake up, instead it will just enter this high power mode with screen off, mentioned in the first bullet point.
These issues persist, even after turning off hybrid sleep, fast startup, hibernation, changing over to CSM boot, trying to downgrade/update drivers for Intel Bluetooth (which sometimes was stopped by windows due to not being Windows 10 compatible), the Management Interface, and Intel and Nvidia drivers.
I have a gaming laptop. Recently after updating to w10 november update, i have noticed that my laptop sometimes turns itself on after a complete shutdown. It usually occurs 2 seconds after complete shutdown. Ive checked if maybe it was a battery issue but nothing is leaking. I have not opened my laptop yet but this is the only problem i have. Is there any software to check what could possible cause this. Also my laptop never boots itself up while in sleep either connected to charger or off charger so its safe to say it only occurs when i just fininshed using my laptop.
View 1 RepliesI've just got this computer back and its crashing at Random times, I cant figure out why though and it shuts off with no fanfare and no warning, one second its on and the next its off.
I think.. THINK its related to doing stuff, cause when i play a video game, it happens but when i leave the computer alone and don't touch it, it can remain working, but its blinked off from seemingly small stuff like browsing and such, just less commonly so.
Anyway I don't know how to diagnose the issue, thought it might be a problem with my power supply so i upgraded from 400 to 500 but.. nope that didn't do nothing.
Sometimes, when I shut down or restart Windows 10 64-bit, just before the screen turns black it makes the critical stop sound effect. It does not effect anything, the whole shut down process is like 3 seconds, which I really like in Win 10.
Nevertheless it bugs me a bit, I also had this sometimes in Win 7. I'm not running any programs while shutting down, it would notify me if I did.
I recently upgraded from windows 8 to windows 10. but ever since I have a problem. I shut the computer down (start bar, power and shut down) and at some point a few hours later the computer starts up again on its own but I haven't changed anything so can only pin point it to the upgrade.
View 7 RepliesI have recently upgraded to windows 10 pro from windows 7 and prior to this i have been getting BSOD and it turned out to be a faulty ram which i replaced. Now my pc runs with two different brand rams bu have same spec, ddr2 2GB 800.
anyway I have my pc connected to the 60 inch tv in our lounge and I have been getting this problem for a week now. My tv would suddenly lose signal and after 5 seconds the computer turns off. It's not a BSOD or instant shut down. This happens once or twice a day. When i turn the pc back on the lights on the pc turn on but then about 5 to 10 seconds after it shuts down again (still no signal on tv). After i turn it on a second time it turns on fine with signal coming back on instantly. This happens everytime (i have to turn the power on twice to have it actually come on and let the first time turn itself off).
I have checked the temp and its perfectly normal. I dont play games on it, just watch youtube or movies etc.
Could it be the new RAM? I haven't tried taking it out but my pc was fine up until last week (its been atleast 3 weeks since i've upgraded).
edit: only setting i remember changing is the display setting. "change the size of text, app, and other items: 150%(recommended)" this to 100%. the settings to this changes randomly after the restart or on normal boot. sometimes when i boot its on 150% even after changing it to 100% the day before. and after several hours pc would turn off and when i turn on again its on 100%.
After maybe 10 minutes, I get a complete freeze and I need to restart my computer. After many attempts of restarting, it usually works fine if it doesn't freeze in the first half an hour. I attached the log.
View 9 RepliesI used to have screen-saver set as 'none' and 'on resume, display logon screen', and set the time there the same as the 'display off' option in 'power options'. And that works fine on a PC, no issues there.
Now I started using a laptop, and it has different 'display off' times for 'when plugged' and 'when unplugged', and different display off times for different 'power plans', so I can't use that trick any more.
The title says it all. When I put the computer to sleep, every few hours it turns back on. I cannot seem to find the problem in any power option. I made sure that my drivers do not wake up my computer in sleep.
View 3 RepliesEver since changing to Windows 10 I keep getting a low memory flash and then computer turns itself on and off and restarts how can I fix this problem?
View 1 RepliesMy computer screen turns black sometimes when I leave it for a minute. When I press the power button it doesn't turn on, to get it working again i need to hold down the power button for 20 seconds then press the power button again.
View 10 RepliesMy computer is crashing constantly, and its gotten to a point where its just very hard to use. It sometimes crashes 3 or 4 times a day, with crashes including blue screens, random restarts, complete power offs, and a combination of blue screen and mid blue screen it turns off. I've manually removed software, used malware scanners, cleared data, but nothing so far has worked.
My computer is the CyberPower GUA880, with the single modification of an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti graphics card.
My most common BSOD is CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
As the title states, my computer will turn off the display or go to sleep (not sure of correct terminology) when I go idle for a short period of time. For instance, I get up to get a glass of water and when I come back, the screensaver is up and I need to re-enter my password. This problem arose immediately after the installing of windows 10 on my PC (upgraded from Windows 8.1).
I have already gone to control panel ~> power options but the thing is, even though I've already done that and set the options to "Never turn off display", "Never go to sleep" as shown in the screenshot, my PC still turns off display/sleeps after a short amount of time.
So I upgraded to Windows 10 and I was using it and shut down my computer. Now my computer turns on but won't load anything. It shows the windows loading screen for about 5 seconds and then goes blank and sits that way till I turn it off and restart.
View 1 RepliesI recently installed windows 10 in my computer, but i got a problem : my computer does not fully shutdown when i click the shut down button in the start menu, it just closes apps, screen turns black, but the pc is still on and i can say this because keyboards lights are still on (power one, wifi one) and i am forced to press the power button for 5 seconds to force a shutdown and then turn it on again. I searched on internet some solutions and the most common problem seems related to the fast startup feature.
View 9 RepliesI click the windows10 icon and option comes; shut down. I press that one and I see stars going round the circle but computer doesn't shut down.
Overnight it remained same. Next morning, I had to shut down manually.
Didn't have this problem until upgrading from Windows 7 Pro. Not sure if it is related to the upgrade. I can shut down but sometimes will immediately restart and other times will restart after some time. I have used device manager to disable any hardware option to wake my computer. No yellow exclamation icons in device manager. Otherwise computer runs fine.I hate to have to unplug my computer everytime I shut down.
View 3 RepliesI have installed windows 10 a couple of days ago and since doing so I cannot shut down my computer. Every time I try to shut it down the screen goes black and it stays like that until the battery runs out. When the computer sleeps the same thing happens.
View 12 RepliesAfter clicking shutdown, it goes through and Screen closes but power button remains lit. Won't shut down computer completely. Have to unplug to get light to go out.... and be sure it is OFF.
View 6 RepliesI have recently built my very first computer, and for a few months the computer worked fine and everything but one day my computer didin't power down and i had to force it and since then this happens i try to shut down the computer it starts to turn off and for a brief second the LED on my front fan turned off, then the computer rebooted. . I have been pushing the switch on my power supply to turn off my system,, it also happens that i some times lose time and date for some reason.
I had this problem with this build in windows 7 and then I changed it to windows 10 but it also happens in windows 10
My build is asus motherboard Z97-P i have a intel I5 4460 a XFX XTR full modular 550W or 650W not sure and a nvidia gtx 970 .. I tried to reset my BIOS settings and the problem stayed unsolved... This problem is really annoying and also prevents my computer from installing updates...
I have noticed lately whenever I select shut down on my pc it will suddenly switch itself back on about a minute later and will keep doing it until I push the power button. Then it will stay off
Its a Lenovo pc recently upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 but it didn't occur directly after the upgrade.
Ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I've noticed on many occasions that it takes very long to shut down. Just yesterday, I waited around 4 hours before finally deciding to shut it down by pressing and holding on to the power button. It was just showing the "Shutting Down..." with a blue background throughout the entire time I have waited.
View 1 RepliesI have new Hp Desktop computer with windows 10 home 64 bit. And have not notice this since last night. When shutting down my computer for the night. Computer monitor light stays on is this normal ?
View 2 RepliesSo, recently I left my computer on overnight to download something, I did this multiple times before with windows 7, and everything went smooth. This time I woke up and my computer was turned off, but I live alone, so nobody could have turned it off. I turned it on again to finish the download and went on doing something else. After that, my computer turned off again. I already went into the settings and sleep is not on, and the screen also doesn't turn off. I also went into advanced settings, and I still can't find anything to be causing it.
View 1 RepliesStarting today, every once in a while my computer will shut down and show the new blue screen of death, which shows the sad face and it says how it is collecting information. However the image is always at 100%, doesnt fill my entire screen, and is pixelated. Honestly it just looks like a picture ripped off google. Which makes me think it is a virus.
