Aug 15, 2015My pc used to be on windows 8.1 and I never had this problem. Ever since I installed windows 10 I have noticed that it has been randomly starting up. I shut it down and then wake up the next day finding that it had randomly turned on during the night. It shows the log in page as usual with no signs of being locked, standby or anything else. it shows as if i shut it down and turned it back on again manually but i haven't. This only started to happen after I updated windows 8.1 to 10 so i dont think it has anything to do with the motherboard.

Jan 28, 2016So as the title says, every now and then Windows 10 randomly decides to wake itself up from sleep. It doesn't happen at any consistent time, some days it stays asleep until I actually turn the PC back on. Using powercfg /lastwake just gives me a wake history count and doesn't provide any information.
I can't figure out why this is happening. I've tried googling it and have found similar complaints but no real solution. It's not hardware that is waking it up and I have already disabled the "allow wake" setting for my network adapters in device manager.
Computer Powers On During The Night
Nov 9, 2015Problem with PC coming on during the night? (W10) I get up in the am and it's running, when I turned it off the night before! I have resorted to switching it off at the back to prevent this from happening.
My friend said to see the scheduler which I had a look at to switch off any updates that was due to update during the early morning. Also had a look in my bios for wake on Lan, but could actually see where that setting was.

Oct 31, 2015I am having troubles downloading the win 10 upgrade from Microsoft. I have did the updates but my computer shutdown and then reboot in the middle of download. I have installed a new PSU already that seems to stabilizes win 8.1. I can't seem to get win 10 download from shutdown my pc from finishing the download.

Sep 3, 2015I've searched the board and found many similar problems to mine, but nothing exactly like it, and as such I haven't been able to fix it.
When put in sleep mode, my computer automatically wakes up at a set time.
I have disabled wake timers in the power menu, I have clicked of "allow [this device] to wake up the computer" on every applicable device (mouse, keyboard, HID-compliant device, NIC...)

Nov 5, 2015I am on 10565 Pro version though this occured in last build too. Whenever I come back to my pc in the morning after putting it in hibernate mode for the night my airplane mode is always on. I notice it first by my bluetooth mouse being disconnected and then wifi connectivity.
The one fix I tried is unchecking the allow to shut off option to save power under device manager properties for my wifi adapter.

Oct 5, 2015Title says it all. After waking from sleep mode the computer disconnects from the internet and I have to reboot to get a connection. Makes the whole point of having a "sleep" mode useless. This is annoying because often I go away from m y computer for a few hours during the day and don't want to have to reboot to get back onto my computer. Rebooting wears out the components and is uneccessary when it should simply wake from sleep mode with no hassles. I have a wired connection via ethernet cable. My router is always switched on.

Since upgrading to Windows 10, I have been losing the pointer when my computer wakes from sleep or is unused for a length of time. Whilst I agree this definately looks like a window glitch. I have done all the usual things like refreshing drivers, new batteries etc.

Oct 10, 2015My motherboard is a P8Z77-V, with Gigabyte 7950 video card, if that matters.
I did the windows 10 upgrade, and all seems well, except waking from Standby.
If I go into start menu, and choose sleep, everything spins down, and the computer shuts itself off. I am assuming this 'sleep' is some sort of hibernate.
But when I leave the computer over night I come back and the monitors are off,but lights on tower on. I am assuming this is standby mode? Anyway, I can't wake the computer from it, using mouse or keyboard (both USB). Clicking power button on tower does nothing. I generally have to click the reset button on tower and do a full boot sequence. When I log in, I do not get a message about windows not shutting down properly (maybe that message is no more in 10?), but clearly it is a fresh desktop.
I reset all bios settings, and update to most recent bios. I have the latest graphics drivers.

Customization :: Desktop Icons Moving After Computer Wakes Or Monitor Is Turned Back On
Nov 8, 2015Desktop Icons move back to the left (default) side of the screen after customizing. this happens when the the computer is put into sleep mode and is woken up or when the monitor is turned off and turned back on. I upgraded to windows 10 Pro 64bit from windows 7 ultimate 64bit. This problem never happened with windows 7.
-Automatic Sleep mode is turned off - when I manually put computer to sleep mode and wake it up the icons are rearranged
-Automatic turn off monitor has been deactivated - when shut off my monitor but keep my computer on and then turn back on the monitor the icons have rearranged
-I have small icons setting
-Auto align icons has been deactivated
-allow themes to change icons has also been deactivated

I have not changed anything that would indicate that this should occur. It didn't happen when I had Windows 8.1 and now that I have Windows 10 it does happen.How to fix it?

Dec 1, 2015I have recently upgraded to windows 10 pro from windows 7 and prior to this i have been getting BSOD and it turned out to be a faulty ram which i replaced. Now my pc runs with two different brand rams bu have same spec, ddr2 2GB 800.
anyway I have my pc connected to the 60 inch tv in our lounge and I have been getting this problem for a week now. My tv would suddenly lose signal and after 5 seconds the computer turns off. It's not a BSOD or instant shut down. This happens once or twice a day. When i turn the pc back on the lights on the pc turn on but then about 5 to 10 seconds after it shuts down again (still no signal on tv). After i turn it on a second time it turns on fine with signal coming back on instantly. This happens everytime (i have to turn the power on twice to have it actually come on and let the first time turn itself off).
I have checked the temp and its perfectly normal. I dont play games on it, just watch youtube or movies etc.
Could it be the new RAM? I haven't tried taking it out but my pc was fine up until last week (its been atleast 3 weeks since i've upgraded).
edit: only setting i remember changing is the display setting. "change the size of text, app, and other items: 150%(recommended)" this to 100%. the settings to this changes randomly after the restart or on normal boot. sometimes when i boot its on 150% even after changing it to 100% the day before. and after several hours pc would turn off and when i turn on again its on 100%.
Computer Randomly Restarts?
Aug 16, 2015So I'm a programmer. Sometimes I take breaks, go to my couch and watch TV for about an hour. However, I still have documents open on my computer. My monitors turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Randomly, I will see my monitors turn on and a blue screen on my computer saying something along the lines of "Getting your computer ready". Then the computer restarts. This happens at various times, I've seen it happen at 1:04am, 4:38pm and 10:15pm. The timing seems completely random and its a major issue because it closes all my documents.

The crash happens randomly and when it does it bluescreens with an error i can't remember but it says something like 'your computer crashed, please wait for us to gather data ;(' and then it counts up to 100%.

My desktop does not overheat, the CPU and the Memory does not go over 50%, have not installed any new programs since we've been using Windows 10. Right when I try to turn the computer on it goes to the HP logo screen and it turns off automatically.

Computer (Overclocked) Randomly Shuts Down Out Of Nowhere
Nov 14, 2015A few days ago, I decided to overclock my PC. It froze a bunch, then gave a ton of random shut downs. I tried replacing the power supply, and the video card. it was good for a day, then fried the motherboard.
So I went out, bought a new case. New motherboard, new processor, new video card, new power supply, new liquid cooling, new monitor and keyboard and mouse. I ran all the cables neatly.
The only thing I reused is the memory, SSD HD, backup 1tb hard drive, and cd rom drive. Installed everything, and have been playing fallout 4 all day.
10 minutes ago, same exact thing. PC shuts down out of nowhere. I check the event log, not a single notice. I am at a COMPLETE loss for words now. I have a moster power surge protector, but I dont know that it has anything to do with it. I did plug the PC right into the wall.
I am a loss for words. Im now down $1500, an I d i feel like it was for nothing now.

Sep 18, 2015I have a PC to 1½ years and recently I upgraded the VGA and Windows 8.1 for 10.
With the new VGA, I used it in windows 8 per 1 month and with the windows 10 for 1 week with no problem. Until in one weekend he gone crazy and began to restart from scratch, without notice. Simply restarted.
Makes 2 weeks to this problem, it was two bad days, Saturday and Sunday, then went one week without restarting, I thought it was neat. Until it happened again on Monday, and now again on Wednesday.
It happened every time when I was doing simple tasks, incredibly when I played games it does not restart. In the days that it was restarting, it restarts several times in succession, and without any warning or beep. One of the times it seemed that he tried to call several times in succession until it was.
What I did to try to solve:
- I changed the memory slots
- Full format (installed windows 10 again)
- I cleaned the pc
- I put it in one take (with power strip with fuse)
- Reseted the BIOS
- I saw the voltages and did not notice anything wrong (on the bios)
- I took and put the video card
- Monitored temperatures: Video card, motherboard and processor. Everything is OK!

The strange thing is that it shuts down when I'm doing beasts things, using chrome and worse, it is a few days without giving the problem, but when you give it gets the whole day restarting, and sometimes, he does not expect Windows finishes the boot, he ta still carrying (and looks that the ssd loads fast) he has restarts.
I tested it without HD, SSD and VGA and changed the memories in all slots and interspersing them. He restarted on the Bios.
We try to reset the bios again and he was 3h without restarting in those three hours we monitoring the temperature playing heavy games like The Witcher 3, but nothing happening. When he gave 4h the PC restarted again.
