Recently I downloaded a program but it came with a ton of malware. I booted my laptop in safe mode and ran a bunch of malware removal programs. When I tried to boot my computer back up, the screen lit up and turned grey.
View 1 RepliesMy screen saver does not work when my computer is turned on. I have to "restart" it and then the screen saver works.
I have not added anything or changed anything and all of a sudden for the past four days this has cropped up.
I have the bare minimum items in my start up folder.
So I have a bit of a problem where my screen flashes, I instantly thought it was display drivers so I uninstalled them only to worsen the problem, the computer restarted with a black screen which later turned into a desktop screen with no icons and a flashing screen (can't click anything or even load up the start menu with the windows key). I put it into safe mode but it does the same thing. Nothing works except task manager and i can't run task from it or it will exit out, system restore doesn't fix the issue either. Computer is a lenovo k450 i5-4440 8gb ram 1tb hdd with an evga gtx 760.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Win 10 on Friday, and since, despite several resetting PC attempts, Win 10 will not load to the login screen. Instead, it is stuck on a loop flashing between the lock screen and a gray loading screen quickly back to the lock screen -- instead of loading to the login screen. This only happens when I attempt to restart or update my PC. If I go to the lock screen because I locked my PC or it fell asleep, I can unlock it. I have also attempted to reset my PC to the previous build, to no avail. I have no restore points.
View 1 RepliesAfter installing Windows 10 I had a gray screen. I thought the laptop had gone to sleep so I pushed the power button to wake it up. It powered down so I powered it right back up. I got the small new Windows window icon and the spinning circle below it then the screen goes blank and nothing! ?!

When it says restarting or shutting down or when I'm signing in the background is blue, but in between a weird grey screen shows up?

View 1 RepliesSo I was doing a system restore on my newly upgraded Windows 10. It was stuck at 46% so I restarted it (which was a stupid thing I know). After that the laptop won't go beyond the black screen. Whenever I boot the laptop the lenovo logo appears and the black screen after and that's it. I'm really worried now.

How do I get rid of the Windows Defender message:
"This app has been turned off and isn't monitoring your computer"
It appears after every reboot.
Basically when i go to turn on the PC it turns on and gets stuck on the screen where it tells me to push DEL or f2 to go to the bios settings. The problem with that is it wont let me access the settings at all when i push either of those buttons. So then I turn my PC off and then on again and it boots fine. Then I check for updates to see if it's some bug and I'm up to date. So I restart to see if the problem has been fixed. And it gives me the same frozen screen of the BIOS options. Then i turn it off and it boots fine, wash and repeat.

I had a lot of files so I decided to reset to factory settings. Computer at 2% turned off, so I tryed to turn it on again,but windows refused to start, it turned off after the manufacturer's logo showed, so I decided to download windows 10 installer [URL] ..... and put it into my USB. I tryed to reinstall windows through usb port, but it needs to turn on the windows that can not be launched (possibly due to incomplete reset to factory settings that might have deleted important windows files). How can I re-install windows 10 without needing to access windows?
View 3 RepliesI can't turn on Windows Defender. When I try to launch it, a window saying "This app has been turned off and is not monitoring your computer" pops up. I tried everything that's listed on the MS answers thread. I am unable to start the Windows Security Centre service too. It doesn't stay enabled i.e., it becomes disabled as soon as I close the Services app. I have no anti-virus installed. Been using WD since I upgraded.

View 2 RepliesDesktop Icons move back to the left (default) side of the screen after customizing. this happens when the the computer is put into sleep mode and is woken up or when the monitor is turned off and turned back on. I upgraded to windows 10 Pro 64bit from windows 7 ultimate 64bit. This problem never happened with windows 7.
-Automatic Sleep mode is turned off - when I manually put computer to sleep mode and wake it up the icons are rearranged
-Automatic turn off monitor has been deactivated - when shut off my monitor but keep my computer on and then turn back on the monitor the icons have rearranged
-I have small icons setting
-Auto align icons has been deactivated
-allow themes to change icons has also been deactivated

I always used to set the turn off display after 2 or 3 minutes, everything was working fine with my old PC but after the new PC whenever the screen is turned off i can't turn it on again buy using the mouse or keyboard.
This problem was while using windows 8.1 and after installing windows 10 pro the problem is still there.
Tried turn off hibernate solution but with no luck.
Connection with monitor is throw HDMI cable with the internal Intel 4600 VGA Card
My laptop, an Acer, has been freezing multiple times a day recently. Sometimes I get a blue screen eventually that tells me there's been a WHEA error, sometimes none of that. Yesterday, I kept staring at the screen for a while instead of restarting, and eventually it recovered. I could see the processor activity climb to 100%, and that interrupts claimed up to 14% of the activity. Afterwards, the network adapter (Qualcomm Atheros AR956x) was turned off, apparently because of a 'code 12' - 'insufficient available resources'.
That problem was only resolved after a restart. When I shut the computer down, I got a screen telling the computer was being 'prepared' for a long time - sometimes I also see a blue screen showing the installation of updates at start-up, even if none were waiting to be installed. The drivers for the network adapter are up to date, version 10.0.0.318 (apparently dating from May 2015). I'm quite sure this is a software issue - 'chkdsk' doesn't find any problems, nor does 'sfc /scannow'. And a friend of mine with an Apple laptop running Windows 10 (we've never exchanged USB sticks or anything) has exactly the same problem since installing Windows 10 (different network adapter however, and seems to have improved recently).
This morning I turned on my HP All In One and the screen stays black. I had 10220 loaded but I don't know what happened until I went to this forum on my other system and discovered 10240 was released.
View 7 RepliesWhile using PowerPlanner7, I believe I may have accidentally turned off display or brightness to 0. I am unsure if I successfully made it back to the desktop after rebooting(my attempt to solve the problem). I have tried searching the Internet for shortcuts that re-enable screen or turn brightness up(my keyboard brightness buttons do not work since I am on Mac and the functions keys are all remapped- holding fn then function is same as just pressing function now too)
View 5 RepliesI have a new Christmas Windows 10 Laptop and it goes to vertical gray lines with a 1" colored block on the screen with the gray lines. I can not get my screen back unless I do a hard power shut down. I did all the current Windows updates on laptop. I then put the full version of AVG on the laptop. It continues to go to the vertical gray lines after a short time of use. I am plugged in to 110 AC and haven't use the battery setting as yet.
View 3 RepliesRecently I updated windows 10 and now whatever colour you choose when "show colour on start, taskbar, action centre and title bar" is on changes the title bar's colour as well. I don't want to disable this option because I like the start, taskbar and action centre being grey but I want the title bar to be white.

View 6 RepliesAll of the grey variants in 'Colors' make the Taskbar really dark/black, but ever since Windows 7 I've had a light grey taskbar so it feels like I've lost a very old and trusted friend.
I've tried Winaero Tweaker but I've only managed to get it to change my explorer accent colour - the taskbar stays stubbornly black.
one of the pc's with Windows 10 on, when opening settings has a gray background instead of white and it seems i cannot alter this. change this background?

Can it be removed or made transparent with Reshacker?
Note: I wanted to keep the Quick access feature so that I can still drag and drop in Nav pane.
