Control Panel Side Bar Text Highlight
Nov 18, 2015For some reason, the sidebar of my control panel has a highlight under every option. This only occurs on one user profile, but I'd like to keep this user profile if possible.

View -1 RepliesSo after my computer randomly restarting itself my desktop items have gone crazy. The text is miniscule, the alignment is insane and the (for lack of a better word) hitboxes are whacked out like so:
And then I go to access my Control Panel, no luck. Doesn't open.
I then go into Display Settings/Advanced Display Settings try clicking "Advanced sizing of text and other items", again nothing. Doesn't even change screens.
I then go to Windows Update and an update is "Downloading" but stuck at 0% permanently.
*EDIT* I am using bootcamp on a MacBook Pro
For instance, if I highlight a word in a text-entry field, it's a very bright blue. This is also true in Firefox, Thunderbird, Word, OneNote, various fora, etc. but not in Excel.
Prior to installing Windows 10, the highlight in a text-entry field was either pale grey (on dark backgrounds) or darker grey (on light backgrounds), which is what I'd like to have back.
For some reason tooltip/hover text and some other text (often for settings) is highlighted pink. This is shown in the screenshot. I believe in previous versions of windows you could change this in "advanced apperance options" however that was removed in windows 8 and 10 (I think). I would like to change the pink highlight to the default white (no highlight).
View 9 RepliesI just bought a new PC and installed W10 (previously was using W7) and when i plugged my headphones to front jack i did not have any sound at all. I googled for some time to find a solution and found that i have to check "Disable front panel jack detection" and i got the sound, BUT the sound was only in one side. When i was testing in Realtek HD Audio Manager it also played sound only in one side.
Headphones work fine so it probably is Windows glitch.also tried to uninstall & reinstall drivers for Realtek HD Audio.
When i open file explorer to view any drive or "my computer " etc , the folders , quick access panel , all are aligned to the right , and "minimize , maximize control" is shifted to top left , instead of top right , by default it is other way around , this is problematic , as i am habitual of using quick access panel in right , and maximize /minimize control in top right , it has changed unintentionlly , and now i can not correct it , i have tried many properties menu, but i can't find the setting related to this .
View 6 RepliesNow that I've got Win10,, I was looking around and clicking on stuff to see what was under the hood, I found that you can get to the Old Control Panel like in Win 7, problem is I don't remember how I got there. I don't particularly care for the new Settings menu in 10 but I guess if there is't enough complaints about it, I guess were stuck with it. I do like 10, there are some issues but just like with new stuff, you get bugs.

View 7 RepliesAny better way to get to the old style control panel? I don't like Win10 menu for the control panel.
View 3 RepliesInstalled Win10 and have the following problems.
1) I have no sound; Sound icon on task bars says "No audio Output Device Installed." When I run troubleshooter, it says Troubleshooting couldn't detect the problem.
2) Control Panel: When I click on control panel it opens, however, it shuts down in 15 seconds.
I'm not a techno person. Dummy me didn't back up before I installed and now I can kick myself.
this small problem started when my control panel wouldn't open, when I try it's like my entire desktop gets refreshed (black flicker) and half the app icons in the notification are disappear with no sign of the control panel opening.
I have looked around and found a couple "solutions" but none work tried this in cmd (admin) "sfc /scannow" which ends with no issues found.then tried this which also found nothing.

So I finally just tried a reset of my computer removing all personal files, apps and settings but that didn't work still have the same problem but now I have more problems!....my audio has stopped working, the icon has the speaker with the little red circle and white cross and when I hover over it it says "The Audio Service is not running." when I click on it it opens up a troubleshoot window which doesn't work it goes through the process and end with a "Not Fixed" and when I click the "Explore additional options" it does that stupid screen refresh thing like when trying to open the control panel, and after I reinstalled my VPN my internet wont work.
Today the Control Panel will not appear and Programs and Features is Missing. Also, I can not enter BIOS.
I cleaned and removed spyware to no avail.
After using a pc optimization program called Wise Care 365 I noticed that the windows 10 control panel is completely gone. Even when I search "control panel" it doesn't show up.

View 8 RepliesI am unable to find my Control Panel today. I see the words control panel when I right click on the menu after clicking on the start button. But nothing happens. It does not open. I have been researching it all day but to no avail. I am using an Acer laptop and I updated to Windows 10 last July. I have had this control panel until today. How to restore it?
View 4 RepliesWhen I had Windows 7, I put a shortcut to Control Panel in the startup folder (I used to need it to start at startup). Now I am on Windows 10 and it still starts at startup. I deleted from the folder (looked up where it was) and checked in task manager if it was set to run at startup but it wasn't there.
View 2 RepliesI find the control panel is a bit awkward to find and usually just luck that I find it on advanced setting for something to other. Is there any way to have the full control panel (not that settings nonsense) on the start menu, pin or otherwise?
I can pin it to the task bar if it's open, but I like a clean task bar, not cluttered with stuff that should be in the start menu.
After upgrading to Win 10 I noticed three old folders that are unusable, which are circled in the below picture. How can I get ride of them?
View 8 RepliesAfter latest update I find that Control Panel is no longer working --it starts (displays) and then locks up and then disappears after a few seconds. Is my system broken or is control panel now disabled )get to it via Right mouse from Windows start button).

View 9 RepliesI was about to change my Wi fi settings, to detect my working Internet, when suddenly I clicked Wi Fi button the whole control panel freezed. I used task manager to terminate it. Later, some links couldn't work, for example, I needed to press "change adapter settings" for priority, but it did not immediately open.
