Last night, Dec 3, 2015, windows automatically updated and this morning my computer gave me a new windows startup screen. All my stuff was there, it seems a new version of windows was installed.
Windows 10 home, 64 bit.
I attempted to check my email the usual way, by the Comcast web site, at xfinity.com. I received error messages that I needed to enable cookies. I checked my settings and cookies were still set where I left them, blocking third party cookies only.
I re-tried several times, getting the same error messages, so I enabled all cookies. I still get the same error message, I cannot access my email because cookies are not enabled.
I just updated to Windows 10. I always run pc tools to keep my pc clean. After i updated my PC to 10 i ran my super anti spy software and all my tools. I mostly just find 50 or 70 things to get rid of all tracking stuff but after 10 i run it and get 2172 tracking cookies . I think its the app store tracking me. Can i find something in settings to turn this off or don't worry about it?
My SUPERAntispyware (free) seems to do a better job than Norton at blocking tracking cookies. It blocked 7 or 8 a day on average on my Win7. It's just stopped 257 that have arrived in the past TWO days on my new Win10. Nearly everyone had the name Microsoft in its title.
(1) Should I just accept that this is now the normal way of life and not get angry with Microsoft for the intrusions? (2) Does Windows Defenders block tracking cookies? Being cynical, is it programmed to let through all those with Microsoft in its name?
I have just restored a saved version of a VM Windows 10 upgraded from Windows 7. It had a digital entitlement but the restored machine required activation. I chose what I thought was the Product Key of the Win 7 machine prior to the upgrade but it was rejected. I now realise that I may have used the wrong key but it raises a question.
How can you tell what Product Key you have used to activate an installation of Win10 which shows as activated?
Two weeks ago accepted prompt to reserve upgrade from Win7 home edition. It said my PC qualified. Yesterday, accepted prompt to begin upgrade. About 4 hours later after selecting Yes/No settings, and being told about the 4 included apps, the status worked up from 1% and must have reached 100%. Didn't turn off screen or power. Now I have just a cursor on screen. Is it safe to power off or was it a complete failure?
I installed Windows 10 on my laptop 2-3 weeks ago at which time I was prompted to create a PIN for easier log-in. I've been using the PIN every day since. All I've had to do is type the 4 digits (no enter) and I get signed in.
Then last night when I tried to sign in, nothing. I enter the 4 digits, and after the 4th digit, the cursor jumps to the front of the PIN characters and doesn't sign me in. I tried Enter which does nothing.
I also tried the alternate "Log on using a password", and it does not accept my password either, which I did not change.
I called Microsoft support and they told me I need to "refresh my computer", meaning reinstall Windows, which is absolutely ridiculous, as it boots up fine and has been working fine. The OS locked me out of it!
What kind of file types are accepted in Windows 10 for mobile for installation? Can it install android APK files or just the appx files? And should the apps be downloaded only from store? Or they can be downloaded or taken from other devices?
So I recently built my PC and had ordered Windows 8.1, but it said that it was upgradeable to Windows 10. So I started the computer up after completion, then installed windows. When I got to the desktop it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to Windows 10. I said no because I wanted to research and see if it was stable enough. So today I decided to try it, but found out that I can no longer upgrade.
I got a 128GB Flash Drive which I proceeded to install a portable, bootable Fedora install on. Of course, naturally, since Fedora is light weight, I had all sorts of other room left over. However, when I plug the USB drive back into the main Desktop, it no longer asks me what I want to do with the USB drive, even with AutoPlay stuff disabled. It's as if the USB Drive doesn't exist.
However, I checked quickly on one of my laptops that has never seen the drive and the AutoPlay on that device immediately popped in. When I selected "view files and folders", voila, I could see the Flash Drive with a folder for the Fedora install and plenty of other open space. How can I force my computer to see this Flash Drive all over again? it's doing the same thing with the storage on my fiance's iPhone. since I can't see her phone anymore when I plug it in (even iTunes doesn't see it).
I have had Win 10 installed and working well until this past week, when the Start button on my keyboard and the on screen icon no longer work. The screen icon will turn dark yellow with either touch or pen, but it does not open. I can right click it and get to that menu, but left click does nothing. Other than resetting Win 10
I upgraded to windows 10 on my desktop pc on july 29th and haven't had any problems since. I know that upgrade/updates are forced to happen so when random issues occurred today I feel that maybe there was an update sent out? My ethernet no longer works, only to connect outside my LAN, but I can still remote desktop and access the computer so the port/cable still work and the router works for all other comps over ethernet. The internet goes in for a split second when I reset the adapter but then instantly goes out. I also noticed when launching a steam game the xbox controller no longer works to control it despite it working yesterday and the controller will control steam itself just not the games. Should I downgrade to windows 8.1 again, since I don't have internet anymore any fixes wouldn't even reach my computer?
Since I installed windows 10 ( clean install ) the autohide worked great.. now all of a sudden although it is checked and everything it simply does not work at all.. It makes it very hard to work on my sites and other sites that have cookie notices displayed on the bottom of the page.
So ive seen this problem in the beta versions, but no fix for the full release. PC is no longer detecting my GTX 970 and my second monitor is also undetected.
I installed the win 10 driver from then nvidia sight. For a short while the second monitor works as it should, but then turns off again.
The graphics driver fails to install on all attempts to update.
SO I upgraded to win 10, then wiped and did a clean install of win 10 again.. verifying that it was activated. a couple days later my motherboard took a dive, so I ordered a new one with a new CPU. Now windows is no longer activated... will MS allow me to activate it again or do I need to buy in now?
Installed Win 10 a few months ago, everything was fine, have now istalled the latest update Win 10 version1511 [OS Build 10586.14] and the printer will not print.
I was intending to roll back to 7 before the final release of 10 so that be licence carries over, but while I was in the windows leading up to the roll back I ended up clicking cancel on the last window. Now the option to "Revert back to Windows 7" is no longer there. I have tried rebooting and I am just now seeing if installing updates will bring it back, but how I may be able to get this function back it would be pretty rad. I won't have to do a clean install of 7.
i have windows 10 installed and generally like it. and the only thing holding me back from using edge, is there is no extensions for it. But the problem i have is that it runs fine, but suddenly it will no longer recognize the hard drive, and even startup diagnostics cant fix it. then ill have to stick the windows 10 usb in and boot that way and once im up and running using that method, i can pull the usb and windows 10 will boot normally to my hard drive.
I just upgraded to Win10. I am using the computer as a HTPC and need the PC to boot up automatically each day so it can runs some scripts. I have been doing this by enabling the computer to automatically boot up within the UEFI . This no longer works after the Win 10 upgrade.
Windows finally bullied me into upgrading to Win10 from Win7 yesterday. Now some things that used to be clickable aren't. Like this little window, for example.... nothing on it responds to the mouseovers OR clicks.
