View 9 RepliesI just updated my display driver to the latest from Nvidia. Now the left half of the display is darker than the right half. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling, but the problem remains.
The driver is Nvidia 355.60 WHQL , and yes my display card in on the list of supported cards. This is the driver for Windows 10 64 bit and my Nvidia GTS 450.
I have never seen this issue before and I don't know if it is Windows 10 or the Nvidia driver causing the problem.
I move the icos to where I want them but as soon as I refresjh the Desktop they go to the left in an unordered fashion.
Now, I want to go back to 8.1 but would like to know if I can migrate back to Windows 10 in the future when all the bugs are sorted out.
Brand new Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) Dell Desktop.
Replaced old XP system (which ran like a swiss watch).
If I turn off the monitor (which I do every night as I need the computer on 24/7) when I turn it on all the desktop icons have moved back to the left.
This DOES NOT happen on a reboot or a shut the computer down and turn it on.
Medium icons, all power saving is turned off, auto arrange icons and align icons to grid are both unchecked.
When I try to customize my font size display settings (see attached), they revert back to default after a reboot.
I did a fresh install of Win 10, and this was the first thing I checked, just to make sure nothing was interfering with it.
So my laptop was purchased in China which came with authentic windows 8.1. I recently upgraded to windows 10 through official pop up notification. However after trying all means I couldn't alter the display language. In the settings-region and language-language-add a language/I am able to add any language in here but when I click options in one of the added language, there's no option of "download language pack" as many tutorials on internet.I have tried under English (United Kingdom) "set language as primary" but after restart, nothing's changed . Still display Chinese.
In control panel-add a language-options-windows display language/Again there's no option of setting a new language as display language, it says under windows display language "not available in this version of Windows" (something like this, I did the translation).I can add or change input keyboard without problem. The version of windows currently in my laptop is "Windows 10 Home Chinese Version" (something like this, again I did the translation). Is this the reason I can't change display language?
I have a Toshiba Satellite (P755-S5215) and the resolution is "squeezed" ... from top to bottom. In addition, I cannot change the resolution. I currently have a "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" showing in Device Manager.
Should I get the latest Intel Display driver from the Toshiba Support site? ... which is from 2013 and just over 300 mb (why so large)?
So I know pressing window+p brings up a menu that allows you to switch display but I want something like a bat command that when run, would switch the display to "Pc screen Only". How would I do this?

my laptop was delivered in my native language, Dutch. However, I always work in English and prefer that the Display language is also English. My start Menu says " instellingen" and not " Setteings".I followed the instructions added a language in the settings menu Region & Language set the language as defailt, logged out and logged in..Nothing changed Restarting has no result also.Might it be that HOME versions don't have the Change Dipslay Language option?
View 5 Repliesis there anyway to get a language pack for windows 10 to change the language back to English? I was able to manually download a language pack but I wasn't able to install it through CMD. I haven't bought the Windows 10 pro to change it for me, but was wondering if I am able to change it manually on the current version of Win 10

I installed windows 7 as a dual boot with windows 10 (as I was having some compatibility problems with some programs) but now the boot UI has gone back to the old black text based UI.
I was just wondering is there a way to get the modern blue boot UI back?
I hate the three circular lines. I keep getting it mixed up with volume speaker with soundwave lines coming off it. I want the bar chart back,
View 2 RepliesThis happened after the fall update. It's not a big deal as I can still read it, but it's annoying.
View 4 RepliesI've tried registry edits, tiny apps, but nothing seems to work.I'd really like the default .txt file icon back, but I use Sublime Text 3 to open them by default, and thus this app's icon takes over all my .txt file icons. How can I make W10 revert to the original extension's icon while it's default app is another program?
View 5 RepliesI managed to change the search engine to Google in the new Win10 search located in the menu and also in Edge. However, the little address toolbar, that can be added to the taskbar by putting a checkmark in the address toolbar after right clicking on the taskbar and choosing toolbars has suddenly switched to Bing as the search engine. I would love to have this set at Google as it always was. I find this toolbar so much more convenient than the one that came with the new win10 menu. I have already turned off Cortana over there.
View 3 RepliesI tried out the Insider Preview 10547 build last night, but chose to roll back to the full Windows 10 Pro build due to not being able to fully apply custom themes and the context menu not coming up on the desktop. Anyway, the rollback went fine, but now for some reason I can't make adjustment to the Start Menu. When my desktop had finished rolling back to the previous build, most of my live tiles had disappeared, specifically the Settings, CMD, and a few other apps I had pinned to the menu. The only tiles that were still showing were the games I'd pinned before applying the 10547. I can't even bring up the Weather, Store, or many other apps by searching for them. The apps still show in Apps and Features under System in Settings, which means the apps are still installed, I just can't seem to access them, although I haven't tried to get to them through a file explorer yet. Also, under Choose which folders appear on Start, every setting is grayed out. I actually rolled back from a previous test build before and everything came up normally, so I'm not sure what happened this time.
View 2 RepliesIts possible to customize one or more folders to a specific file view like "list" or "details" for example? Whenever I close the folder or go back to the previous folder the default system sets back default view which was adopted by the system or the view that was defined by me for all the folders in: Folder Options -> View -> Apply to Folders.
View 7 RepliesAfter upgrade from windows 7 everything works properly. After o while it was not possible to open the START MENY by left click the windows 10 icon in the lower left corner. Right click works ok. What is the reason to that?
View 1 RepliesI left-click on the windows icon, but nothing happens. Right-click, though, gives a pop-up list. How to restore the left-click behaviour?

View 2 RepliesI turned on high contrast mode. Now it won't change back to normal mode no matter what I do. I tried selecting None in the dialog box for high contrast mode and all the other modes.

View 5 RepliesI was running Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10. I lost no data or programs or pictures, etc. Windows 10 worked fine for about a month and then developed a "restart required" loop. After several attempts I tried the Recovery option, thinking it would take me back to a restore point as in Windows 7. Instead it took me back to Windows 7 and all data and programs (other than the Windows 7 default programs) are gone. How can I get back to either 7 with my data and programs or 10 with my data and programs?
View 1 RepliesI decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?
The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN.
