View 1 RepliesA black box appears and quickly disappears while I am online, after installing windows 10. It appears on the left side of my screen. It causes sites that I am on to close, and will also make the things I am typing disappear.
View 1 RepliesSince I upgraded to windows 10 and a new cheap ram 4 gb I have had this problem where the explorer.exe process refreshes.
It is the same thing that happens with android smartphones when you have open to many programs and when you try to go to home everything disappears and appears again because it is refreshing the home process.
Or used to happen with window 7 or 8 where everything disappears and you had to open explorer from task manger to continue to use the computer again if you remember.
Now this happens when i am using chrome because that is all I do on the computer and chrome is known for eating ram and the ram is constantly over 60% .
This happens too frequently it is not one of those things that happened once in a while like it would with windows xp 7 or 8.
These are my theories but I still don't know what cause this.
Do i need to add more ram or is this a bug from windows 10 ?
Edge appears when I click on it--or something does--then immediately disappears. Is there a way to reinstall it? or correct this behavior? I recently had huge problems with setting permissions and to solve them I restored to an earlier restore point.
View 2 RepliesI can't get Win10 build 10049 to install my Canon Pro9000 Inkjet printer. It is connected by USB and when I turn it on, an icon appears in the taskbar briefly and then disappears. Devices show Inkjet printer but no drivers available. I downloaded latest driver from Canon site and tried again following their instructions. No joy! My Lexmark 250dn installed automatically and so did my Canoscan 8800F as well as my Canon MP490 with no problems. I have also tried compatibility mode using Win8.1 and Win7Pro.
View 6 RepliesAfter successfully installing Win 10 it ran without any issues for about 1 day then Edge refused to launch, the splash screen opens for about 10 seconds and then disappears. The only change made to Edge was to import bookmarks from IE. Unsure where to start looking for an answer.
View 13 RepliesI recently upgraded my notebook to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and in like 1 or 2 days after my mum used it, it now has a blank screen on startup and you only see the white mouse cursor moving. This is apparant no matter how many times I HARD press the power button to switch it off and switch it back on.
Also, I tried to stick a Windows 7 CD in so I can reformat it BUT as soon as I press the power on button, the option to press Del or F12 to enter bios settings to change boot order does not work?
My cursor on Windows 10 seems to freeze / disappear every time when I wake up my laptop from a 'sleep' state. Sometimes it takes multiple reboots to get the cursor back. I have seen other posts online about this problem, but unable to find a fix. I am almost tempted to go back to Windows 8, which used to work OK for me. Details listed below.
Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit
Hardware: Sony Viao Laptop
Model # SVS1313AGXB
Synaptics Touchpad driver screen attached below. The "Update Driver" button is disabled.

I have for example two tiles pinned to my start menu in this order from top to bottom in one line:
DocumentsDownloadsGames
I am a person who selects everything in a blink of an eye so in one seconds, right after i click on start button I already have my mouse cursor on the tile I want to click and click it to open the thing I want to open, takes me 1 maybe 1,5 second to do this task. There is an issue with start menu in w10 over here. There is some weird lag or cursor alligement issue for about 1-2 seconds after you open start menu. When you hover over for example Downloads tile, and your mouse cursor is exactly at the downloads tile, instead one tile above the tile you are hovering is hovered and if i press it that tile will open. So if i hover over Downloads, Documents will hover, and if I click, it will open documents. If I hover over Games tile, it will hover Downloads and if I quickly click like i do usually, it will open Downloads folder instead.
The only workaround for this is to either not move my mouse cursor and wait 5-10 seconds for the cursor placement to hover over the right thing (so when im hovering over Games, it will hover over games after those 5 seconds) or if I am constantly moving my mouse cursor around Games tile, then it will hover over that tile 2 seconds later after my mouse cursor has landed on that tile so I can finally click on it and open what I wanted. It is happening every time I open the start menu: Press start button > Hover over tile I want to open > need to move my mouse curcor around that tile for 1,5 ~ 2 seconds, or not move my cursor and wait 5 seconds for windows to actually select that tile > then I can click it, start menu will close, my thing will open > after I need to use start menu again I have to go through the same thing again...
My computer went to a black screen again after installation, but after waiting for a while my computer fell asleep and I went to wake it up and the black screen was gone. I still get the black screen after I restart, but I just press the power button on my laptop, put it to sleep and then I press some button (any) and it's fine.
View 9 RepliesSo I was doing a system restore on my newly upgraded Windows 10. It was stuck at 46% so I restarted it (which was a stupid thing I know). After that the laptop won't go beyond the black screen. Whenever I boot the laptop the lenovo logo appears and the black screen after and that's it. I'm really worried now.
View 1 RepliesFor some reason the device manager on three of my computers has disappeared from the computer management console. I can access the device manager via control panel or the settings for windows 10, but not via the computer management console. It is there when I first install windows 10, but sometime between the initial install and the time I install all my programs it disappears.

How do I get rid of the Windows Defender message:
"This app has been turned off and isn't monitoring your computer"
It appears after every reboot.
Recently I downloaded a program but it came with a ton of malware. I booted my laptop in safe mode and ran a bunch of malware removal programs. When I tried to boot my computer back up, the screen lit up and turned grey.
View 1 RepliesEverything has been working great until very recently. After the Cumulative update my computer has been going into the "Recovery" screen when the computer tries to go to sleep. The problem with this is that my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard does not work at that time.
After connecting a USB mouse and keyboard, I selected to restore from a previous point (before the update). Though the system went through the motions, it stated that the restore was not successful. However when it booted back up, the system was restored to an earlier spot. System found updates and installed which started the loop again.
How to stop the machine from going into Recovery mode?
I have
Dell XPS8700
i7 processor
32 gb of memory
64 bit system
256gb Solid State Boot drive
1) I can boot into Windows 10 fine from a cold boot.
2) When the computer tries to sleep and I get the Recovery screen, I can select the option to reboot the computer and it boots up.
3) Normally I do not need to enter my password. After I reboot from Recovery screen, I have to enter a password.
4) Also if I use the keyboard to place the computer into sleep, it does NOT go to the Recovery screen but sleeps like it suppose to.
My screen saver does not work when my computer is turned on. I have to "restart" it and then the screen saver works.
I have not added anything or changed anything and all of a sudden for the past four days this has cropped up.
I have the bare minimum items in my start up folder.
I had a lot of files so I decided to reset to factory settings. Computer at 2% turned off, so I tryed to turn it on again, but windows refused to start, it turned off after the manufacturer's logo showed, so I decided to download windows 10 installer [URL] ..... and put it into my USB. I tryed to reinstall windows through usb port, but it needs to turn on the windows that can not be launched (possibly due to incomplete reset to factory settings that might have deleted important windows files). How can I re-install windows 10 without needing to access windows?
View 3 RepliesI can't turn on Windows Defender. When I try to launch it, a window saying "This app has been turned off and is not monitoring your computer" pops up. I tried everything that's listed on the MS answers thread. I am unable to start the Windows Security Centre service too. It doesn't stay enabled i.e., it becomes disabled as soon as I close the Services app. I have no anti-virus installed. Been using WD since I upgraded.
View 1 RepliesI have had windows 10 since the Insider program started but I never needed to use sleep until now. But whenever I put my computer to sleep it wakes up 30 seconds later. I have made sure that my network card, keyboard, mouse and controllers aren't allowed wake the computer. How can I stop my Computer waking up?
View 1 RepliesSo I have a bit of a problem where my screen flashes, I instantly thought it was display drivers so I uninstalled them only to worsen the problem, the computer restarted with a black screen which later turned into a desktop screen with no icons and a flashing screen (can't click anything or even load up the start menu with the windows key). I put it into safe mode but it does the same thing. Nothing works except task manager and i can't run task from it or it will exit out, system restore doesn't fix the issue either. Computer is a lenovo k450 i5-4440 8gb ram 1tb hdd with an evga gtx 760.
View 1 RepliesSince I've updated from windows 7 to windows 10, the computer occasionally freezes for about 10 to 30 seconds and nothing but the mouse pointer works.
It happens every now and then but mostly a few minutes after the computer has started and then every now and then. If it freezes in the middle of a download for example, the download simply continues after the freeze ends.
I have scanned the PC with numerous anti virus applications such as ESET NOD32, Malewarebytes and Norton.
Desktop Icons move back to the left (default) side of the screen after customizing. this happens when the the computer is put into sleep mode and is woken up or when the monitor is turned off and turned back on. I upgraded to windows 10 Pro 64bit from windows 7 ultimate 64bit. This problem never happened with windows 7.
-Automatic Sleep mode is turned off - when I manually put computer to sleep mode and wake it up the icons are rearranged
-Automatic turn off monitor has been deactivated - when shut off my monitor but keep my computer on and then turn back on the monitor the icons have rearranged
-I have small icons setting
-Auto align icons has been deactivated
-allow themes to change icons has also been deactivated

My Drivers are all up to date. and Motherboard Bios has just been updated to 2201
My laptop, an Acer, has been freezing multiple times a day recently. Sometimes I get a blue screen eventually that tells me there's been a WHEA error, sometimes none of that. Yesterday, I kept staring at the screen for a while instead of restarting, and eventually it recovered. I could see the processor activity climb to 100%, and that interrupts claimed up to 14% of the activity. Afterwards, the network adapter (Qualcomm Atheros AR956x) was turned off, apparently because of a 'code 12' - 'insufficient available resources'.
That problem was only resolved after a restart. When I shut the computer down, I got a screen telling the computer was being 'prepared' for a long time - sometimes I also see a blue screen showing the installation of updates at start-up, even if none were waiting to be installed. The drivers for the network adapter are up to date, version 10.0.0.318 (apparently dating from May 2015). I'm quite sure this is a software issue - 'chkdsk' doesn't find any problems, nor does 'sfc /scannow'. And a friend of mine with an Apple laptop running Windows 10 (we've never exchanged USB sticks or anything) has exactly the same problem since installing Windows 10 (different network adapter however, and seems to have improved recently).
So I upgraded to Windows 10 and I was using it and shut down my computer. Now my computer turns on but won't load anything. It shows the windows loading screen for about 5 seconds and then goes blank and sits that way till I turn it off and restart.

Windows 10 from win7
Intel core i7-3610qm
Intel centrino wireless-n 2230
Today, Windows 10 decided to act up.When I turn on my computer, it boots my UEFI interface, the Windows 10 loading screen with the spinning dots and then a black screen with no cursor.
It's not my 7870 or monitor as I tried it using the motherboard graphics and my other monitor.
In Windows 10's troubleshooting menu, System Restore won't work because of some file being deleted.Startup Repair requires a successful boot to enable Safe Mode, which I can't.Resetting with all files intact gives me the same result.Rolling back to Windows 7 is impossible due to Windows 10 deleting all my Windows 7 files.
What do I do aside from formatting?I need the files inside that HDD.
