View 3 RepliesThe symbols that show the battery percentage, the calendar, and the sound.... they are in the lower right corner. I want to move them to the lower right corner of my second monitor, without making my second monitor the main monitor. Is there anyway to do that? Or at least duplicate the icons so they show on the second monitor?
View 1 RepliesIn previous versions of Windows, a quick registry hack has let me create my main user (after the one in C:Users created when installing Windows) in E:Users rather than C:Users.
This is the method I've used before:
Use Regedit to navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProfileList
and alter ProfilesDirectory, in my case to E:Users.
Does this works in W10, or will I be a path-finder?
I have a large number of research articles on my laptop (via dropbox). One thing I loved about Windows 7 was that I could just hit the Start button, type a keyword into the search box and a results window would pop up that listed every matching document on my computer. I was also able to customize this so that it always came up in "Details" view.
I can't seem to get that same thing with Windows 10. When I type something into the search field on the task bar, I have to first select that I want it to search my stuff and not the web. After I do that it will only bring up a limited amount of results. I have to click again to see the whole set of hits--and then if I hit "Folder Explorer" at the bottom of the menu, it brings up the results in "Tile" view.
First, I can't figure out how to set the Folder Explorer default view to "Details".
Also, is there a way I search directly into Folder Explorer via the task bar search box?
Next, I don't mind that the taskbar offers me the option of websearch
I have 2 partitions in my PC. One is an SSD one is an HDD.It seems that Windows 10 put my users folder by default onto the SSD. I'd much rather it be on the HDD. Is it possible to move? My SSD isn't very large. Also, my user folder has a ridiculous name on it. It was cool when I was in high school when I first made my MSN account but it is a blight on my system. Can I change the name?
View 14 RepliesDoes the Users folder have to be relocated to an empty drive on an existing win 10 installation, or is any local drive ok?
View 9 RepliesI just recently installed my SSD and I was in the process of changing the location of my Downloads folder from my new SSD drive, to my 1TB HHD, so as to save space. I then changed my mind and wanted to keep the Downloads folder on the SSD drive, so I went to change it back by going into the "Location" tab under Properties and moving it back to the SSD drive.
Bad idea, because now my Users folder has been renamed Downloads and I can't change the name of the folder anymore. I've tried solution #147545 from the sevenforums.com but that didn't work for me.
It's weird because when I look at the folder with a different User account logged in, it shows up like it should with my original user name. So it's only different when I'm logged in as the original user looking at the folder, because I see it as Downloads.
Now if I right-click and select properties, under the "Sharing" tab, it shows that it's perfectly fine and not named Downloads. Also under the "Security" tab, the Object name shows up perfectly fine as well and is not named Downloads.
I am looking for the location of the Start Menu Folder in File Explorer. I searched the internet, found it, and did some quick rearranging to the All Apps menu a few weeks back. I want to make some more changes and rearrangements and cannot seem to find this location again.
View 6 RepliesI'm going to reload my OS. I haven't been able to find the folder that contains the calendar data so I can back it up before my reinstall.
View 1 RepliesI decided to use windows 10 OS in my organization, but the problem is Windows Start Menu. Is it possible to modify default start menu for all computer local and domain users? I dont want to see news, finances, Xbox etc tiles in start menu each time when new user will login to PC. I want to create the same start menu myself for every user.
View 9 RepliesI was wondering if I could redirect my documents, music and movies folder to a hard drive due to low space on my SSD, But my concern is, will it effect my programs such as Adobe, AutoDesk and other programs currently storing files in this folder? Or will they automatically look point to the hard drive after i redirect the folders to a new location.
View 1 RepliesI have Windows 10 v1511 Enterprise 64 bit.
From the Command Prompt, run as administrator, how should I do to remove any TrustedInstaller or Authenticated Users or System users from the ACLs of an entire directory structure also contains files and links (this must not involve the ACLs of their destination)?
During Windows 10 clean installation from bootable USB drive - using Users Folder - Move Location in Windows 10 - I've relocated Users folder into D: directory.
Operation went smooth but now I've encountered a problem mentioned in topic's title and presented on the screenshot: Start Menu
Basically, all Apps are not turning on for all current and future accounts. On the other hand, Search and Settings are working properly.
To get rid of the problem I've followed steps listed in this thread: [URL] ...but it didn't work out. Instead, PowerShell returned error HRESULT: 0x80073CF3 for all reinstallation attempts.
Following error applies for all Apps:
Code:
Add-AppxPackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CF3, Pakiet nie przeszedł weryfikacji aktualizacji, zależności lub konfliktw.Windows cannot install package Microsoft.3DBuilder because this package depends on another package that could not be found. This package requires minimum version 14.0.0.0 of framework Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00 published by CN=Microsoft Corporation,

As for relocationg Users folder back to default location - I don't want to do that because I want my system partition as clean as possible.
This is current situation, I've done nothing more to impede poor Windows' performance.
Where is this wallpaper stored? also, where can I find the different resolutions of it?
View 1 RepliesI was curious if there happened to be a location where the image that shows up on the screen where you enter your password is. Not talking about the lock screen. In Windows 7 it's located under "C:WindowsSystem32oobe", but that's not the case in Windows 10. Is there a place where this image exists? If not, it might be in one of the various MUI files...
View 5 RepliesCould not find "Notification Area Icons" in "All Control Panel Items" for Windows 10, but I could find it under Settings-System-Notifications. Is that normal for Windows 10? How can I add it in the "All Control Panel Items"?
View 3 RepliesI really like the current lock screen wallpaper (the one you see before you click and the password screen shows up) and I want to set it as my desktop wallpaper, but I can't find it! Where is it located?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to find the location of the icons located on the start menu (as seen in the image I uploaded). I am specifically looking for the folder explorer one as I am trying to set the taskbar explorer to that icon. I am using the program IconsExtract to scan my computer for icons but to no avail...
I figure since I'm not finding it as an icon, they must not technically be icons. As we are able to change their color via our color settings, they must be some sort of svg or something of the sort.
They are located in the Segoe MDL2 Assets Font. I was looking at this site and then realized that front-end uses fonts for icons as well. Then boom. win.
Now to figure out how to use it in xaml files and where the start menu is calling it.

I need to store files at a location other than my SSD boot drive. I right click on a folder icon e.g., "downloads" and go to properties/location and change the drive letter. I go to the icon, right click and the location has been changed.
However, downloads continue to go to C:users/myname/downloads.
How do I change where files are sent by default?
Windows spotlight under the lock screen settings set a picture for me that I'd like to make permanent. Unfortunately it will change when the new windows spotlight picture is sent out. What is the save location of this image file so I can set it as my permanent lock screen picture?
View 9 RepliesI have two desktops (work and home) with more than one screen, on these computers, I would like my start menu on the far right side of the right screen.
However, on computers with only screen (my laptop), I would like my start menu along the bottom.
Is there any way to set up an IF statement that places the start menu in a location based on the number of screens or, worst case, stop that property from updating across computers?
WINDOWS 10 PRO: Pursuant to the tutorial in Ten Forums, the FAVORITES folder in the EDGE browser is stored in the DataStore folder. Is that correct? Is the tutorial correct? My check of the folder indicates the tutorial was correct.
View 6 RepliesIs there a way to pin one or more folders to the taskbar?
I know I can access it through the file explorer's jumplist but this involves too many clicks, and I like to be able to access my Downloads and Dropbox folder from the task bar, not the start menu.
Or at least if I double-click on the file explorer icon in the taskbar, it takes me to my custom folder straightaway instead of 'This PC' or 'Quick Access'...
I accidentally deleted the default folder icon that comes standard with Windows 10 home. Well, I didn't delete it, I hit the "Unpin from taskbar".
Where do these icons go when you unpin them? And how can I get it back?
I know I can replace it with File Explorer, but I like the files that are displayed with the standard folder icon.
Slip of the keyboard. I unpinned the folder icon that comes standard with Win 10 on the taskbar. I replaced it with File Explorer but it's not the same format. The folder icon that comes with Win 10 on the taskbar brings up the Libraries on the left, then the right side, I think, had folder and file listings. Don't remember - I did this about a month ago.
View 4 RepliesTaskbar color choices are extremely limited in W10, very difficult to read tabs. What is wrong with MS.....?
I tried run<"control color">, but it was useless as well.
Is there any external tools that will allow me to customize taskbar color independently from accent colors and borders.
I saw some suggestions to modify registry, but I do not want to go this route.
